its a high speed video camera meaning it instead of 'taking an image' every, say 33fps it takes it at 400fps slowing it down alot, im tired and thats the best i can explain.

And oddly enough what they call "stop action" video usually sped up a lot and not stopped at all!

You can slow down standard video a little and see some interesting things. Almost any video editing program would allow you to do that. But this video was taken with a special high-speed video camera. If you have to ask... you can't afford it.

I have played with one, and it's far too limited to be worth the money.

e.g. it has a fixed iso, and doesn't work in anything but bright studio lights (which sometimes isn't the effect you want.)

Usually looks great outside in sunlight though. But you're very right that the range of contrasts is very limited. I find that I'm tweaking lighting and Fstop trying to get a reasonable image.  I usually end up washing out some part of the frame.
