it really pissed Stalin off that we(the Allies) didnt cross the English Channel in 42 or 43. Makes me wonder how different the last 70 years could of been if we did come sooner. If they come in 1942, maybe we never have an "iron curtain", no Cold War, maybe we dont drop the atomic bomb because Stalin would of been more sympathetic to sending troops to Japan after Europe was over. It seems the Allies only came over when the SU was taking new land. Lots of Russians died 41-44.
@lukkyluciano I'm just glad we didn't bow to Stalin's pressure to open up a new front in 1942/3. So much preparation was needed for D-Day, and it would have been a disaster if we had gone ahead with it just to appease him
Why didn't Hitler just go after the oil fields? He could have cut off the supply of oil and destroyed the Soviets ability to wage mechanized warfare. Even the dumb ass patsy Roosevelt couldn't have supplied enough oil to fuel the fuck head Stalin and his evil left-wing agenda.
I don't know why the series leaves out the fact that Churchill, in 1919, as first lord of the Admiralty, assembled and sent an army of various allied divisions to destroy the 2 year old Soviet Union. Perhaps that's why Stalin was so mistrustful.
@ElFrankus A little correction - there was no Soviet Union in 1919, it was formed in 1922, when Bolsheviks realised that they failed to instantly spread revolution across the Europe and the world, but on the other hand they just crushed last remnants of Russian resistance, and gained control of most of former Russian empire.
I would describe entente's intervention as (unfortunately too weak) help given to young Russian Republic in fight against bolshevik band.
@ElFrankus And yes, You are right in that Churchill's role in attempt to stop bolshevism probably largely shaped Stalin's attitude to him. Creators of this documentary could have mention it, as they did earlier in the series with the Polish-Bolshevik war of 1919-1921, when origins of Katyn crime was described.
@ElFrankus Stalin should have been distrustful because he was well aware of the fact that he was an evil self-serving bastard who deserved to die a lingering death.
@whiteej21 Yes, we can leave it there, but the mafia created by bolsheviks NKVD, later KGB) and its legacy is still alive. Those people are united willingly or unwillingly by the oaths they gave and still today are ruining life for millions.
Smashing series! Love it.

@whiteej21 I wish we could leave in in the 20th century, but North Korea and Cuba show us that we still can't.
