Pierce brought tons of charm to the Bond character , he didn't need huge muscle to play Bond he relied on good looks and charm! And that is what Bond is all about ! Daniel Craig doesn't even look that smart to begin with ! He has no facial expression , just a serious look and big muscles! Julian McMahon should have been the next Bond IMHO!

I don't doubt that Pierce is a genuinely, down to earth nice guy, but I can't say as much I would like to that he's a good actor, he's very limited. He made a decent Bond but then I'd have to argue that Daniel Craig is more superior and a generally better actor to boot. But never the less is a very charming guy who if I met him I think I would have a lot of time for.

Brosnan's hard-nosed, cynical spy in The Tailor of Panama gives lie to the notion that he can't do tough. Nothing cheesy about him when he's doing his spy stuff in his Bond movies. The World Is Not Enough director Michael Apted said he was constantly under pressure from the studio to NOT make Bond too rough. Brosnan wanted to play him tough, less gimmicky. I guess he played the smooth Bond so convincingly that people now believe it is all he is capable of. Craig is a brutal, dour substitute.
