he has this funny staccato like playing style, with a lot of fretboard "width".. for some reason i think of him as the paul gilbert of blues? i hear some "style" similarities.
Sounds a crap load like eric johnson. But i like when joe plays blues. When he plays his eric johnson style of blues its kind of too much technique. Joe is at his best when he just plays regular blues.
To me, Joe sounds like Joe. That said, he does have some obvious influences. On this piece--to my ears--he's got a Warren Haynes-meet-Eric Johnson vibe. On other tunes, he definitely has that Clapton Bluesbreakers vibe/tone. I've heard him compared to Stevie Ray Vaughan, but I don't hear it, myself.
lol he's just copying everything eric johnson does.... watch eric johnson interview demo's about rhythm and tones. The way he slides into notes etc...and adds vibrato like that...and the notes he picks... he is just ripping on eric johnson!........he's so unoriginal and unauthentic. He's got badass playing though...... just the most unoriginal artist around at the mo.
i dont see anything wrong with being unoriginal. he might be stomping over old ground but its what he likes. so why shouldnt he? the man digs the blues. and its next to impossible to make an original sound with the blues now.
well, to me, joe sounds like a bunch of players wrapped up in one. like eric johnson, srv, warren haynes, and many players along those lines. he seems like he's one of those guys that when he studies someones playing, that he just dives right into it, almost like mocking, kind of like what shawn lane would do. but he still kind of has his own sound. but i know what ya mean, when ever i hear him on audio, it's hard to tell who is playing lol. but still an incredible player.
It's a practice amp for crying out loud. solid state i presume. Far from sound quality of the amps he cranks up on stage. It sounds shrill and trebly. rather than full and multi layered. But because he plays so great, it sounds good, even with a practice amp.
Funny how people always compare JB with SRV. I never made the comparison myself. They are two totally different players with different styles.
If you feel offended than I am sorry, I am a huge Bonamassa fan and have seen him three times
@karsterik Karsterik, yeah it's funny. I've been noticing more and more people (of two distinctly different age demographics) see some really well accomplished guitar player, and he/she could be playing a Neil Young song (an exaggeration) and "they" will walk over and say, "Hey!! I really like that SRV lick you just played!! Yeah you sound just like Stevie..." and they couldn't be further off of the mark. Like NOT even close. Since when did SRV replace Les Paul in pioneering?
AUDIO..???

great player. Even nice to hear good with such a bad sounding amp.

so...why do you think his amp sounds so bad? because he doesnt sound like SRV, and that he has his own sound? just wondering
