  • 0:16 Lu like "Who the fuck them niggas in the corner men?"

  • what song does this beat sample?

  • @unocname Idris Muhammad - Could Heaven Be Like This

  • and people Lupe is not the most complex lyricist he's top 10,and being complex doesnt mean your the greatest it takes more than complexity cayse if being complex meant you are the GOAT the Canibus would be by far the Greatest

  • Great song but you kinda messed up some lyrics

  • top 20 most creative song all-time top 15 most complex song all time not the greatest but top 20 mc all time

  • @Nigger115 I disagree sir, this is literally the most lyrical song I have heard. The metaphors are sick, wordplay is sick. Basically every single line is a metaphor. And unlike alot of rapppers each verse is actually conveying a complete message. Unlike some artist who just put together great punch lines but as a whole the verse makes no sense. No lupe is not the best rapper ever or even the most lyrical. But to me this is the most lyrical song in hip hop history.

  • @kwright2933 nah any song from rip the jacker is more complex than this song but besides that and Curriculum 101 this is very complex

  • @Nigger115 You might have a point but It's all opinion really lol agree to disagree

  • Great song. I love it!

  • THERES SNAKES IN THE HOOD! GOTTA WATCH FOR THAT COBRA BITE LET ME SEE: THERES SNAKES IN THE HOOD, A BIRD, A HORSE BEHIND A GRILL GATOR ON THE SEAT AND A FOX BEHIND THE WHEEL NO ITS NOT NOAH'S ARK...OCK!!

my favorite verse wit those lines in it..Lupe just ran thru this joint on everything..

  • This nigga iz ill.

  • Lupe has a boring style ....its cool he is trying to be intricate the way he spits about stuff....but dude spit something people understand cause trying to figure out raps is only for lupe nerds ...or o boy that takes 2hours per 16. get some swag lupe cause sometimes u come off as plan boring.. n stop trying to hide behind a skateboard...come harder dog

  • @yungsal hahahha c'mon, lupe isn't coming HARD,c'mon man, don't hate,go out now and find any dawg that is more completed than lupe, and then we can argue about his style,he is the only xxl freshmen that got the A+ since 2006,so what the fuck are u talkin' about ?

  • @ardithe1 xxl plz homie that mag is for kids same mfers on the cover every other month...u need to develop ur own opinon instead of jumping on what an ignorant mag says. another more complete easy nas.

  • @yungsal people hate that which they don't understand. and who you tellin to come harder? dawg you the one watching and commenting on pokemon videos so shut the fuck up about being hard. gotta be fuckin jokin...

  • @iseankimi son pokemon videos go harder than this song thats the sad part....the real joke is ur sac kings...tube my balls in ya mouth in ya mouth..

  • @yungsal lupe nerds? haha don't listen then, it's that simple

  • @Andohhh o snap we got a lupe nerd....take that bait ...with ur lupe dictionary ..

  • @yungsal ironic cos lupe is a nerd hold tight all the nerds around the world.

looks like i dont need to bother with you, seeing as you listen to shitty chris brown and fabolous hahahaha

  • @yungsal so u askin for him to "DUMB IT DOWN?" lmao

  • @Jbosshog123 bitch making sense aint dumbing down ho.

  • @yungsal let me just get this right, He's to intricate? Meaning too hard to understand. God forbid he makes people think. SWAG? fact that u used that word is enough, And you think the songs "plan" boring because you dont get it. Hide behind a skateboard? Kid has 2 songs about skating i know, Come harder? Lol this songs easily the hardest song to come out in the last...10 years. AND ITS OLD. Kid you need to listen to dumb it down. You're the guy they are talkin about in dumb it down.

  • @TheOriginalCoasta meaning the dude dont make sense...do u know what hip hop is n what makes it??? its relating to people...lupe aint reaching to everyday people...this is for ...nerds..talking space babble.. dont get me wrong i like lupe......hardest ok let lupe spit this in the streets...this is poppin in ur suburban area ya dig, i dont kno where else....son i got dumb it down on a cd....n that went hard....but i aint trying to throw my music on a chalkboard ya know...make sense is wat i mean.

  • @yungsal You dont want to take time to understand it. Thats you. Dumb it down is for you. Its relatively simple in comparison to this song.

And If you're saying thats what's keeping Lupe from being a huge success you're damn right. There's enough people making bullshit music as is.

  • @yungsal You goin over niggas heads Lu! Dumb it down!

  • Love this song! Anyhow anyone care to break it down. Also for me deciphering Dumb it Down entirely is still a home work and I love that one too!

  • Pennies from heaven is the same as the semi from the second (pennies falling form the John Hancock and a semi from second has no meaning. just a comparrsion)

And I reign supreme ("reign" and "rain"-reign-lupe is the highest, rain refers to semi shots- "rain of bullets")

Turn your umbrellas upside down (unbrellas catch the "rain" of pennies from the heaven and unbrella upside down is a kings crown-"reign"

Did you even catch the change in theme?

(he changes theme of bullets, pennies, and king

  • @possesedbyaclown or the sears tower whatever you want

  • @possesedbyaclown semi from the 2nd means 2nd floor. pennies falling from heaven will have the same force as bullets from a 2nd story window from a semi auto gun.

  • This is saran wrap and aluminum foil

Some potpourri, a little machine oil (these are the items used to distract drug sniffing dogs to get rid of the smell of drugs)

I stack my paper and throw off my cents

This is top floor, better look out below

(paper-money and rap sheets, cents-refers to the "scents" of the previous lines and throw cents off the John Hanock bc supposedly if you throw a penny of the tower, you can die. last line is self explanatory. watch for lupe bc he is supreme

  • "wit da cats that push, 40 ounces thru da hood, like king cobra see we sling soda, cuz da extra 4 in da split is mix its really 36" a kilo of coke is 36 grams. when u cook it into crack u wanna add an average of 1/9 parts baking soda (4 grams)which is how u end up with 40 grams of crack. it is said that a king cobra holds up to 40 ounces of venom and we all know a cobrahas a (hood). also refrence to the malt liquor 'cobra' which is sold most famously in 40 ounce bottles. =) ur welcome

  • like he said "And I shake niggas up every time I drop a bar

    (2 for 1)"

  • turn the fuckin umbrella upside down so the fuckin pennies wont fall threw your head they will bounce off like rain duhhh

  • Who Produced this track Nottz or Needlez

  • I just found a complete breakdown of this song. Lupe is fuckin insane lyrically. I missed like half of these lol. Oh, and Lasers is coming out March 8, 2011!

  • by this track, you can tell that Jay-Z is one of his main hip-hop inspirations. Lupe needs to release that Lasers album!!

  • Lupe>>>

    U Mad?

  • @ santiw616 dos r lyrics rit der lol nvr knew wat he meant by dat

  • the metaphors in this song are waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy over my 15 year old head :(

  • @RileyFree1

not over my head, and im only 18

  • Pennies from heaven is the same as the semi from the second

    anyone care to explain?

  • @possesedbyaclown i think there is a legend/myth that someone dropped a penny or something from the tower in chicago and killed someone. The velocity and weight built up from the penny fallin would have enough power to kill someone on impact. So its like pennys fallin from heaven is the same as a semi (semi-automatic rifle) from the second floor. I THINK

  • @FlashCLownP Uh, no. Terminal velocity of a penny is about 65 mph. It would require well over 10 times that to break the skin. Pennies killin people is simply a myth. (Sorry, physics major here, couldn't help myself lol) BLUNTS UP FOR LUPE THE GORILLA!

  • i get tired of this song everytime i listen to it cuz i alwayz have it on repeat

  • Comment removed

  • Great flow, and it quietly stands as the sickest song ever written...

and mainstream listeners are still lyrically ill-literate...

  • its like every time you listen to lupe fiasco you catch some new genius line in the song you missed before... this man with a beat is like jordan with a ball

  • its like every time you listen to lupe fiasco you catch some new genius line in the song you missed before... this man with a beat is like jordan with a ball

  • people think jr writer is better than lupe. I'v never laughed so hard in my life.

  • I dnt normally try and advertise other artist on lupe's songs but check out Black Dove. ( symphony, the matriarch of my heart, mental entrapment etc) he's one of the few artist ive heard who come close to lupes lyrical content lol

  • did yall catch at 4:51 u see world is brail hear, im bumby johnson ( a deff blind piano player) i stick to the streets (the stick thing blind people tap on the streets and ground) keep my dogs oun in front of me (the dogs that guide blind people on the sidewalk) u c what im sayin ( super sayin from dragonball z ) and i push keys wonderfly (blind man playing piano, and those energy ball things dragonball z throw at eachother) ...AHHHH!!!!!

  • @oUNIVERSALo yeah its not just any blind man playing piano either its stevie wonder (wonderfully) Lupe has sick lyrics man. hes got like 3 meanings in one..

  • @oUNIVERSALo lol, the fuck u talkin bout nigga? Bumpy Johnson was a fuckin Harlem drug lord

  • @oUNIVERSALo WHY??????????? IS THERE SO MUCH BEHIND ONE FREAKING VERSE!!!! lupe are you some sort of wizard......

  • @oUNIVERSALo that all made sense, but ive never heard of bumby johnson. googled it too. i believed that it was bumpy johnson though, until reading this and u made alotta sense, now that i cant find any bumby johnson, imma say it is still actually bumpy johnson lol

  • @oUNIVERSALo holy shit i found him. you sir are CORRECT!

  • @sosadagr8 lol yup, theres still more to the song

  • Dude has mad style, lyrics r hella fresh

  • Lupe killed dat. Check me out! Haters welcome!

  • what song duz dis album come off

  • "turn your umbrellas upside down, did u even catch the change(like the money he threw off the building) in theme?" he is by far the smartest rapper alive

  • what if we are all just over analyzing things?

  • @tpl89 How is lupe wasting the beat

  • No one comes close ta Lupe, on lyrical wordplay, like he leaves his verses at Chuckie Cheese's all day... He goes thru the lunchline, but he's just thirsty for a punchline... Add all his tracks together and it equals a positive more than sum-times...

  • This, and every other song that Lupe does, should come with a warning label! like "Warning: Brain Rape can and will occur! Side effects include nightmares, not listening to Lil Wayne, inprovement of your own rap skills and a brighter intelligent view! Call your doctor to see if Lupe Fiasco's Music is right for you" lol every song gets better and better! LUPEmperor all day

  • @DynastyEmpire I can't like that enough. Lupe made me got from good to HOT DAMN. Somebody asked me how did you get so good. I said I listened to lupe and laced him in my style.

  • lupe is like one of the greatest like cory gunz, j cole, old skool drake... etc. but i aint like dis too much

  • @montanadash20 just read the comments and u will see that it is the most gangster song ever recorded

  • Runners at Interscope are not as Stoute as him

  • u can't get more lyrical than this, waka need to take notes

  • @Rahlo718 did u really jus say that? be serious dude he's 1 of the worst mc's to ever to get in the game ever. No exagerations

  • dang aint heard this in like 3 years. one of lupe's hardest tracks

  • all that gas cant help you but solar might so just call on SUN...drop an S (UN) pick up an O (UNO= one in spanish) you know (or U NO) put it all on ONE...........genius

  • @jcvens lol daaaang,,,thanx 4 pointin dat out, i wud of neva caught it

  • It's so SEARS every time I write my John Hancock like

    Could damn near see Detroit

    Niggas is scared of heights

sears and john hancock towers in Chicago...u can damn near see detroit...

    deeeeeeyum LU KILL EM!!

  • [DROPS MIC]

    [WALKS AWAY]

  • @fiftytimez

    exactly

  • have you noticed that alot of chi town lyricists have really complex wordplay?

  • @possesedbyaclown ya but lupe takes the crown.

  • wahts he talking about in this song

  • lol you cant tell?.....take your time....you'll figure it out

  • "This is saran wrap and aluminum foil

Some potpourri, a little machine oil

I, stack my paper and throw off my cents

This is top flo, better look out below

Pennies from heaven is the same as the semi from the second

    And I reign supreme

    Turn your umbrellas upside down

Did you even catch the change in theme? (this is gangsta man)"

    damnnnnn this is defintely gangsta!!!

  • One the the best rap songs ever made. Period.

  • See, I couldn't walk the walk

    Couldn't really talk the talk

Had to get my talk to properly explain my walk

Cause this lack in talk had my walk lookin' off

    Now I'm over the limp

Watch how they mugs drop when they see my verbals able

    (that's the usual)

    speechless... lol

  • Good rappers use similes, dope emcees use metaphors, but Lupe's goin crazy doin double-entendres, he aint my favourite MC yet, but this is one of the illest hiphop songs ive heard in a long time

  • @SlawtaProducer 100% right anybody can use similes but if ur really intellgent u use metaphors and dope wordplay.

  • lol this film made me watch The Usual Suspects, dope film by the way, finally realised what "Verbal's Able" meant

  • @SlawtaProducer also check this out...walk the walk-now im over the limp

talk the talk- verbals(words) able. just incase u missed that

  • @SlawtaProducer EXACTLY!!!! god damn i wish people would stop sayin "wayne got those metaphors and shit" no nigga he got simple ass simile's. this is metaphors and intellect

  • @SlawtaProducer i hope you realize similies and metaphors are the same thing basically..Only difference is that similies use the words "like" or "as" while metaphors just straight up compare stuff.

  • @Koolakobs its harder to make a metaphor than a simile is basically what hes saying

  • does anyone know what mixtape this is on

  • @mgp266 Its on "Touch the Sky" and " Da Exam" mate

  • fahrenheit 1/15 part 1

  • "Its so serious (Sears) everytime i write my John Hancock" as a nigga from chicago i can appreciate that shit

  • he sad we sling sodas (COKE) aka CRACK he killed drake on this beat

  • @Youkj3 you dumb as as shit boi

  • and thats wht hip hop is dead cuz dumb fucks like you dont understand lyrics...but i bet u understand im wet like i just jumped in a pool lol...

  • @ballstothewall44 aint that some gucci man line? i cant stand him flow so elementary. i like intellectual raps

  • @Youkj3 then find another rapper cuz he just not for u then cuz he not gone dumb it down.

  • @Youkj3: It can be kind of hard to get at first but the thing I like about Lupe is you can get a lot of his lines the first or second time and continue figuring out new lines as you listen. Wasn't the half you got good enough to make you want more?

  • "Pennies from heaven is the same as the semi from the second And I reign supreme Turn your umbrellas upside down Did you even catch the change in theme?" Damn Lupe is a Best

    "K"

  • "You see i'm a roller right...so it might be a 'ROVER' right. But everytime i drop a 'R'(get off the streets) its 'OVER' ïight"

    Lupeeeeeeeee

  • @HipHopWisdomAndTruth u gotta take the r from rover(over) and right (ight) just incase u missed it

  • check my freestyle on this...

    /watch?v=ym_Nctnx0ao

  • is this an og or did someonelse do this?

  • Idris Muhammad created the original but juelz and lupe sampled it....Lupe has done it justice..... Could Heaven Ever Be Like This

  • when he says" its the foundation the i beams and the antenna's im so serious" serious is actually sears(double interpreatation) bc hes tlking about the sears tower bc u can see detroit from the top of it and aluminum foil and potpouri etc. are thing you buy at sears then he compares his stack of money being as tall as the sears tower and if he throws a penny off it "pennies from heaven" it'l kill you (like the myth) so its the same as a semi from the second (if a semi-truck hits you you're dead)

  • i think he ment semi like the gun

  • he's talkin about the hancock building no the sears tower

  • Comment removed

  • Not only do u know great music and understand it...u are a fan of a great team....Go Broncos lol

  • @broncos1579 semi (automatic)

  • @broncos1579 also those things he named are used to mask the smell of drugs. and u left out the former line. "niggas is tall as yao ming, where LUPEmperor, is the foundations i beams and the antennas" hes saying niggaz think there big but compared to him there yao and hes sears towers.

  • Gave me the Green light like YODA KNIFE

  • take my time but wait (weight) behind only pertains to that porche grill....

talkin about the bricks in the box earlier in the song.

ive memorized every word in this song and ive analyzed it down to everything i think but i still think im missing shit BECAUSE HES JUST THAT DAMN GOOD

  • @jthomas4psh yup horse (heroin) in the porshe. also there is a horse on the porshe emblem. and some porshes have the trunk in the front. and bricks (coke) in da (glove box) isay the trunk in the front to analyze the line u just said with the "wait behind.

  • If you are not feeling Lupe on this one, then you're not smart enough. He did more on this song, than most rappers do on an album.

    LUPE the KILLA

  • ANY RAPPERS HAVE EVER DONE ON AN ALBUM

  • I've listened to this song 1000 times and finally caught the "watch how they mugs drop when they see my verbal's able (that's the usual)" is from the movie "The Usual Suspects" and at the end Verbal the main character shows that he is not actually handicap and the coffee mug drops. Too Sick!!!!

  • damn thats deep, even when u explained it it took me like 10 seconds to get it lol, lupe too deep gotta luv it

  • @santiw616 OMG....I just lost my mind.....

  • @santiw616 never heard of the movie but now i know what it means... this fuckin guy is a flat out genius.

  • @santiw616 haha- now i HAVE to watch that movie! ive heard this song over a thousand times too & i still be catchin new things every now & then.. my newest is the vending machine part (hats on tilt; shake; drop a bar etc- 2nd verse) i almost jumped out the chair when i broke that one down.. What i have yet to discover is what the hell he means when he says turn ya umbrellas upside down

  • @REIGN131 Turn your umbreallas upside down like to float in the rain because he rains/reigns supreme/so hard is what I always thought.

  • @santiw616 ...that is dumb nice..i'm glad you cleared that up for me

  • J.cole claim he made beat similar to this

  • See, I couldn't walk the walk, couldn't really talk the talk

Had to get my talk to properly explain my walk

'Cause this lack in talk had my walk looking off

    Now I'm over the limp

    Lupe is a beast

  • The double entendres in this are unbelievable. Reminds me of a young Jay Z with his wit.

  • the greatest lyrical masterpiece lupe has put out , && possibly the best in our history

This is top flow better look out below !

  • @fyekid101 i wud have to disppute that with 'dumb it down'

  • check my verses on this beat what yall think?

    /watch?v=ym_Nctnx0ao

  • it's not for sale.. which is pissing me off!! royally.

  • thats because it was on mixtapes, that are available for free.

  • me too!

  • can any one find this song on itunes cuz i cant

  • 好, I like dat!

Lupe keeps Rap and Hip Hop alive!

  • Werd its like Soulja Boy is the AIDS thats slowly killin hip hop. And Lupe is the treatment for the AIDS that keeps it alive

  • @yomotha617 u mean Drake is da antidote

  • @skdatzme lol drake. Good one.

  • Lupe's best song hands down, he kills every single bar... crazy lyricisim

  • will he make more songs like these?

  • @RikAmmo: Look up Enemy of the State by Lupe also look up Fire by Lupe.

  • did you seriously say yung la is better than lupe fiasco? fucking LUPE "best rapper alive" FIASCO?!?!?! kill urself

  • wrong. he still spits out of his mind lyrically on his last album. and he mixes up the beats and tempos. its variety, i dont agree that he has gone pop. cant wait for his next album.

  • thanks alot 4 puttin up one of the greatest lyrical performances of the young century.

however just a slight correction... instead of niggas brwonose they are like "after him" i think it should be

niggas brownose they are like ALF to him. as in the long time television show .thanks again yo.

  • just out of curiosity, does anyone know what song he sample from, bc i love the beat but i wanna tweak it a lil.

btw, lupe fiasco is like the luke skywalker of hip hop, he is the one and only true hope for hip hop to go back to the way it was, the way it should be but at the same time is progressive. god we need more peeps like him in the game

  • Who got the original beat? This dude got bars for days man.. dude is ill!, haha this auto preview is crazy haha!

  • are you actually serious? please name someone to go against him. i guarantee you lupe would straight fry them. im not saying hes the best rapper alive but hes getting there. plus hes better than the garbage lil wayne comes up with

  • Kool Keith, GZA, anyone from The Roots or Blackalicious, Rakim, Ghostface Killah, Del the Funky Homosapien.....the list could get quite long my friend. Its unfortunate that so many of you haven't been exposed to real hip hop. Dr. Suess wrote better rhymes than some of the shit niggas are writing today. Today's hip hop is straight up unlistenable.

  • most of those rappers are sick and your absolutely right today's hip hop is unbearabley bad but the point is if you actually take the time, i think that you will find that lupe is actually pretty good.

  • Then I will try to remain objective and give him a chance. So far I ain't feelin' it though.

  • @kkobra30: All those rappers you mentioned can rhyme bar for bar with lupe but I wouldn't say any are better.

  • @kkobra30 I laughed at this comment. LOL May God bless your soul.

  • if you don't like failure then you don't like lyrics. this guy has line with up to three metaphors. which is fucking insane , his word play is on point ...so if you don't like this song you really don't understand it .....

  • I no im late to this convo but i have to agree wit my mans above me. Lupe is 1 of the sickest lyrisit to ever grace tha mic. nevamind tha rest of those mc's u mentioned. besides out of all of tha 1's u mentioned Ghostface is tha only 1 that can keep up wit LUPE.

  • try jay-z nas and andre 3000
