If you guys really think that players like Rajon Rondo, John Salmons, Michael Redd, Hedo Turkoglu, Kirk Hinrich, Michael Pietrus, Raymond Felton are more athletic than players of the past than you people are out of your minds.
Andre Spencer averaged 11 ppg with the Warriors that season. I don't know what the hell happened to him after, but pretty much anyone averaging double figures in the NBA should be known to bball fans.
@americanaccents To be fair, Spencer did average 11 ppg for the Warriors that season, but he only played 17 games for them, which all came late in the season. He more or less played out the final month of a lost season for Golden State, as nearly everyone except Latrell Sprewell missed significant time due to injury. So yeah, technically he averaged double figures, but only in a handful of games that didn't matter late in the year on a horrible club. I wouldn't blame folks for not knowing him.
I wonder if you could say Reggie Williams (out of the D-League) is a lot like him. Getting no-business scoring totals while barely sitting on anyone's radar.
@americanaccents Yeah that's a pretty solid comparison at this point. Though, as anonymous as Williams may be or seem, he was at least able to put together a full season in 2011 with pretty moderate statistics. Spencer never played more than 28 games in a season, so he may out-obscure Reggie in that regard.
better make way for the PACKMAN! Robert Pack best under 6'0 dunker there ever was in nba, screw Spud and Nate they could do it in a dunk contest The packman slammed guys in thier face once a week!
wow, sick plays. I especially like the beginning =) Can you believe I recently trained enough to start dunking?! I just followed the training program at snipurl[dot]com/nbatraining and did it in 2 months!
We had Reggie, MJ and Pipp, Kemp, Payton, Richmond, the Knicks, Zo and the Heat, Shaq and Penny, Grant Hill, Mutombo, Barkley, Drexler, Stock and Malone - all those in their prime.
Now we've got pretty little starlets who, sure, are fun to watch, but nowhere CLOSE the intensity level of that last golden decade...
pretty sure all of shawn kemp's average dunks are better than these dunks, the john starks one is sick but to not even have any kemp dunks on this list is a straight up diss
first off, i'm sure these aren't the best 10 dunks of the year. second, yes guys do dunk better today, but i think thats more about creativity and the standard already having been set than it is about athleticism. i know everyone will think i'm crazy, but i don't think the guys are that much more athletic today. Average height is same, and avg body weight is higher. the players are definitely stronger, but also bulkier, which slows them if anything. vertical is probly just a bit higher
for the guy below me, VC wasn't around at that time as he came in 99. Do you homework.
And for people saying the dunks are shitty, probably not paying attention real close, the beauty to those dunks is that they did it in traffic, I liked that era because of that.Real in your face dunks and put backs.
shitty dunks..psh no way.. they are just as good as today.. in fact better. cuase skill level increases as the years go on.. but there are always those exceptions such as kareem , magic, and jordan.. etc..
Skill level hasn't increased. Skill level was superior back then. Now, there might be a little more athleticism due to performance enhancement, but skill level definitely isn't better today.
Yeah that was funny as hell. How the Hell do u let "Chris Mullin" dunk on you. Nothin against Chris, but he was more of a jumpshooter. He wasn't much of a dunker.
You are right--the 92-93 season was Utah, Houston, and Phoenix (robbery) in the playoffs and 91-92 was Golden State (with said "Lister" play) and Utah in the playoffs.
Thanks for posting this...I have some of these on tape also.92-93 was the first year I watched NBA,and I loved NBA Action..still do!! I especially love Chris Mullin laying out Alvin Robertson...mint!

yea sure today's players are more creative especially in dunking. I mean they have to lol. but athletic wise? I don't think so.
