  • Whenever a scam was attempted by staff or punters in work,'Pound' was our codeword!

  • Booking Fee LOL!!!! Now I know where the Credit cards picked up that scam from

  • LMAO, ahh good old british comedy, ya can't beat it

  • Peter Butterworth should have won an Academy Award for this performance.

  • Someone should film in poundland then put this together, then upload, very funny!!!!!!!

  • You never told me about the clothesline with occupies 10 acres ,which is a pound per acre.

  • 0:08 All Asses must be shown.

  • @A5HLEYHALLOW51 He asked Bob Holness for a P.

  • Its quite sad that British comedy now is just a group of sniveling crass old men degrading and insulting other peoples success.

    This was absolutely brilliant.

  • "I don't know if anyone's told you this Mr Fiddler but your name certainly suits you!"

  • It upsets me so much to think that pretty much every main character is dead :\ its horrid. apart from barabara windsor, theres literally none left. </3

  • Fantastic .

  • Come to think of it, this scene reminds me of buying a flight from RyanAir.

  • Peter Butterworth just found out he was in a pow camp you woudnt think of it to look at him

  • When men were men and women WEREN'T

  • we go to mr fiddlers camp site in bala.....pound

  • The carry on films always put me in a good mood. Amazing cast and soundtrack.

  • hahahaah

  • He should work in the pound shop

  • @Illyria0O7

    haaa i agree!

  • My utterly fav carry on scene od all time, Butterworth is on top form here.

  • @stacksovids12

The dinner scene in Up the Khyber is fantastic, too. He's a nervous wreck while everyone else at the dinner table takes no notice of the bullets and cannonballs that are knocking the house down around them.

  • get his gag in carry on doctor, again.....one of the best.

    fanatastic character actor, blessim.

  • pound notes... hmmm

  • Those were the days.

  • Definitely worth a pound!

  • mr fiddlers facial expressions are so wonderfully acted! the way he eyes up the money, ya know as soon as he's seen that load of cash he turns into the equivilant of a drug addict! lol :P

  • You should see him as Reverend Belcher in Up the Khyber. The dinner scene is almost as good as this one.

  • My user name's from this fabulous film! Joanie's face at 0.13 when she sees "All asses must be shown"! Absolutely priceless!

  • Gone for a P Brilliant

  • hehe a pound was a lot cheaper then, wonder how much that is today.

  • What do they call that sort of humour? Is is a 'running gag', where something is repeated and it gets funnier each time. Laurel and Hardy used to do it alot, and when it's timed well, it's great. This 'pound' joke is one of my favourites in the film.

  • mr fiddler should work in a pound shop.pound...

  • @REECH321 or an italian bank!

  • Any Carry On film with Sid James in it is gold. The ones made after he passed on were shite. The one shown here (which is Carry On Camping), Carry on Cabby, Carry On Cleo and Carry On Up the Khyber are particularly well done, but the rest of the Sid James ones are good as well.

  • All asses must be shown..hahahahahah

  • hahahahahha golden comedy!

  • gone for a pee hahahhaa

  • Lol love this so much can watch this 'carry on' again n again

  • 'Bernie...we're in!'

  • lol

  • 2:02 I love when he goes to take a fifth pound, then pretends he was just scratching his face.

  • Josh Fiddler is played so well. IK love the way his face lights up when he sees the money.

  • totally random fact: Peter Butterworth was "the Meddling Monk" during Bill Hartnell's time as Doctor Who and Bernard Bresslaw was an Ice Warrior in a Patrick Troughton episode.

  • Here's another random fact for you, Jon Pertwee (who also played the Doctor), was in Carry on Cleo briefly, as the old Soothsayer.

  • He was also in "CARRY ON COWBOY"..with ginger hair!

  • Absolute Class. Greatest scene from any Carry On Movie !

  • he he he he he

  • Mr Butterworth. God bless him.

  • Fuck me, its the Haven Holidays staff training video. I wonder who taught them

  • Absolutely brilliant! - a true masterpiece on its own of good old fashioned comedy by the experts, Peter Butterworth & Sid James!...the rest of the film is a bonus!...thanks for posting!

  • I actually L<3VE carry on films!

I own all of them ahaha :)

    x

  • 'Gone for a P' is the best gag ever commited to celluloid.

    And it was BRITISH!!!!!!

    Makes me howl every time.

  • Classic 'P' gag!

  • One of the best carry ons!

  • If anything costs a pound, my daughter and I call it a Butterworth!

  • @devonrod so sad these guys are all gone, breaks my heart

  • Peter Butterworth, the Human Credit Card.

PB - My usual charge per week,

    SJ - Yes, which is?

    PB - £1

SJ - I Knew it. Per tent?

PB - Or per person, whichever's the greater.

  • Ha Ha Ha. Sid James is funny and that dirty laugh he does. Pound for this and a pound for that.

  • "Pound..."

  • Gone 4 a P

  • "Per tent or per person, which evers the greater" Lol

  • Peter Butterworth is a legend!

  • lol "all asses must be shown" when he talks to the guy he sais he gone for a pee and he comes up with a letter P lol

  • Yeah. I know. I've just watched it. Why waste your time typing this crap out?

  • Because that's what amused curtis445566 the most and what they wanted to draw attention to!

  • Hmmm. I think I would have noticed the joke without having 'my attention drawn to it'. I think that their intention was either to somehow associate themselves with the joke,or simply that they are mindless and get some kind of thrill by repeating what they've just heard. Either way, this army of parrots on youtube succeed in contributing nothing, and potentially spoiling it for those who read the comments first, or while the clip is playing.

  • I like parrots.

  • its the dumb down brigade again, got to pander to the lowest common denominator, probably a "teacher" in one of the new labour acadamy's

  • New Labour didn't exist in the 60's/70's

  • haha great. i didn't know about the pun with pee and p cause i'm used to the german version where the pun doesn't work :)

  • lol "all asses must be shown" when he talks to the guy he sais he gone for a pee and he comes up with a letter P lol

  • I've got this DVD from the SUN newspaper. :)

  • it's whats more what you call a show case lol

  • Best sketch ever, so surreal.

  • pound

  • class clip!, pound,! a real dodgy dealer one o my fav ever bits canna beat this humour lol

  • does anybody no where that camp site was or if its still there.

  • Most of the filming was done locally around Pinewood studios [ due to very tight budget] eg Chaste Place , Terry Scott,s house [8 Pinewood close Iver Bucks] Mrs Fussey,s House Pinewood Green Estate other locations were in Maidenhead [Camping equip. shop] The camp ground was apparently in Burnham Beeches Bucks but i dont know if it still exists, couldn't find it on google earth?

  • I think the "camp site" was in fact the backlot of Pinewood. They very rarely went beyond the studio grounds except for "CARRY ON GIRLS" (Brighton), and "CARRY ON UP THE KHYBER" , (Sussex).

  • The scene at Chayste Place where the girls were boarding the bus was filmed at the back door of the main building at Pinewood. Most of the Carry On's were filmed nearby, but sometimes they had to venture further afield to get the right atmosphere. I think parts of Up the Khyber were filmed in Snowdon. Cabby was filmed all around Windsor. You can find great sites that investigate the filming locations if you Google.

  • Yeh from memory it was from one of these internet sites I read the locations from this film and if it was in Burnham Beeches thats not so far from Pinewood ?

  • Sweet
