People should see what is being shared and then judge if they think it would work for them. i watch vids of many women who def. do not have my hair texture, but what I get from them are styles, tips and info about products I may not know about. The product may not work in my hair how it does in their hair, but may be good for me to use for another usage.
In my opinio this is a Diss to the YT community. A lot of YT'ers have put in a lot of work and research. Take Kimmaytube for instance. She really has shed a lot of light about caring for natural hair. Should she be overlooked? I think not. How this article reads to me is that we should look to Naturally Curly and Essence for advice. Well Essence just jumpd on the band wagon and now they want to tell what is best. I am not saying YT is the best or only source, neither is Essence or Nat. Curly
When i first my journey of being naturl I didn't even know about youtube. When I got into it, I was trying all kinds of products that didn't work for my hair and I become very frustrated. The article didn't bother me because its true for my case. I think basically people need to get to know there hair and if youtube can help cool. If you can find information somewhere else that's cool too. To me there is no need to get upset
This is one of the reasons why I love watching your videos, you bring up topics that makes one think, your videos are always interesting, and important. Keep up the great work sweety may God bless you always : )
@Wela143 that is such a nice thing to say and I do appreciate it very much. i'm just glad that I can talk into my camera and voice my opinion, cuz I do have a lot to express sometimes. you know I am so glad you feel this way, thanks for the comment.
Honestly, It doesn't bother me either. it could have been worded differently but nowadays, everything is controlled by corporations and they just wanted to promote themselves and Naturally Curly. I do agree that one shouldn't just blindly follow someone else regimen, especially if they don't have the same hair texture but that doesn't mean that the only other option is to go to essence or naturally curly.
@jemy1415 like I said I don't want to seem insensitive at all. maybe the way it was said could have been different. I just see a lot of people were so offended by the quote. I myself watch videos here on YouTube and only read articles from NaturallyCurly when they send me an email. so you see who I turn too for advice. i'm glad you stopped to watch my video.
Now, I felt exactly the same as you with the carols daughter issue ~~but on this one I do feel as if Essence was throwing a little shade on Yt vloggers...but I dont know if it was mean spirited or not because I do not know the individual...I feel that now that Essence is trying to be apart of the natural hair community that they need to embrace the ladies here on the tube and that statement was divisive...I have been reading Essence for years and will contune to do so
@kylahsmom1 i'm sure you will agree Essence has stepped up their game a lil bit? in the last few months they have done a lot of articles on natural hair. yea, it IS because the ladies on YouTube have made it popular to be natural. let us not forget they did do a lil spotlight on Kimmaytube also. I can see why women would feel the way they do. as always it's nice to hear what you think. thanks so much for the comment.
@EbonyGirlSpeaks I agree..they have really tried to embrace the natural community..hopefully only gets better from here,...it is exciting to see...:0)
@thepeelingqueen I hear that. there was a time I felt the same way, but they have gotten a lil better and very informative about issues that women should know (excluding the recent article). thanks for watching.
