I read/saw Shakespeare didn't actually write any of those works he is famous for. I would link if i could, was a while ago. It was saying a rich aristocrat gave them to him. The aristocrat was afraid it would mark his popularity and loose respect he had gained. Aristocrats also were too "upper class" to write plays/poetry/stories/etc., if was just frowned upon.. Shakespeare on the other hand, was actually a poor everyday kind of guy. True or not, makes you wonder.
@murdok620 News flash: Shakespeare was illiterate along with his entire family!! Like a lot of things in life, people have been trick, hoodwinked, bamboozled (lmao) into believing things that simply aren't true!! If you do some research you will see that I'm not just typing this to be an asshole!! Bottom line: Shakespeare was a fraud!! That is all lol
@mateo1000ful Way fuckin' wrong. Shakespeare was a diamond in the rough which means yes, he 'was' illiterate along with his family until he later on became a world renound poet.. :)
I know most people will ignore this, but to anyone who loves poetry and enjoys watching spoken word poetry please check out my poem entitled "Death sentence" .. if you like rap type in "Brandon E. Williams" in the search box and click on the 1st or second video.....this kids rap skill is amazing! you wont be disappointed.
years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand;sorry i didnt want that happening to me
look i understand dat ur native american but even tho your land was tookin u shudent forget the tragity thats what the gov... want so they wont have to feel bad apparently they dont an who cares african americans was tooken from land and made slaves not just that we lost our culture sure go back u say how not even africans will except us because us blacks i admit we feel were better than running around but naked like our ancesters so just stfu
What event is he referring to in 1:43 when he starts talking about the first flood? The, "They used dead black bodies to hold back the water" part got me interested to study it. Anybody help?
Your poetry is not going to change anything, so if you are so tired of how things are here...leave. I am a native american...and my family was pushed off of our land. But it happened, lets move on
@dragons1100 you think things are easy as "lets move on??" hell no! u say your people were pushed<< off your land....MY people were stolen from there land, enslaved, rapped, beaten, killed all bc of what? and you say move on....mofo get real!!!!!!
@queen850 What are you saying? You personally did not experience slavery or being moved over so you, with all due respect, do not deserve to speak on behalf of the ones that did, and slavery IS still alive but its not just blacks anymore. I realize the whole slavery thing sucked ass but there is nothing we can do about it, it is the past. But you didn't experience it, you have no say, and we didn't do it so why shove it in our face? That's like Jews blaming modern day Germans for the Holocaust
@FAMExSWAGG That are argument is olnly for those who don't know their history. Segregation did not end then or lynching; or currently if you take the time to read a book and read shame of a nation by john kozol. Pay close attention to the pay gap due to race or just pay attention to the statistics on education. You can re-zone an area to move funds for education or look up gentrification. Lastly who said we blame you or the average american.
@jjonesword top comment...TSGS21..."I see a white man in the crowd..." anybody that says "White America"...fuck we are struggling too...but Jewish people are not saying "We went through the Holocaust and Egyptian slavery.." living in the past won't help the future
@FAMExSWAGG You won't understand and I try to focus on those that I can help comprehend. I know everyone is struggling due to the economy but you won't see even then unemployment rate broken down by race makes a huge difference. Be blessed, I hope you will understand one day.
@FAMExSWAGG I kind of agree but then again slavery wasn't the end. After slavery there was segregation and nothing but hatred towards blacks, crippling their way of life for today, providing them terrible education, and putting drugs into their society. The whole idea of predominantly black areas should have never existed. Also I understand that everyone is not doing good, but a white American is in no position to compare their struggling with those of other races and nationalities.
@queen850 dragons1100 is native American...Native Americans were raped, beaten, murdered, enslaved, slaughtered, massacred, not to mention were the first to be exposed to biological warfare...and to this day Native Americans live on reservations they wanted their own sovereign states but from what i hear living conditions are poor and murder and rape are still constant among their people...from one time being the only race on N. Amer. now they make up less than 2% of the population YOU get real
@queen850 Yes, I completely understand when you say its not as easy as move on. However, we are in a different era where people treat each other better than before , where the people that enslaved, raped, beat, and killed "your" people are no longer alive. We now live in a time where we are trying to correct the mistakes of our ancestors and the ramifications are evident. Therefore, as of now, i believe the appropriate thing to say would be let's learn to live in harmony as each day progresses.
@mustbelieveinme Different era, same crap. Just like Ice said; the people that push the buttons, care nothing about those that built, hold up & carry this nation. Although the people who enslaved, raped, beat & killed my people are no longer alive, their spirit lives on in their descendants. & no, we are not necessarily treated better - the hate towards us is just hidden behind a grin which to me is far more dangerous than just showing your true colors. Wolves in sheep's clothing if you will.
How can you possibly believe that this era is the same as when African Americans had zero to no rights? Thing have improved an awful lot since slavery. The problem is people expect over night change. One other problem is that people tend to over dramatize things. It is true that there is still racism, but to suggest improvement hasn't happened is idiotic.
you must be an ignorant person, funny how you don't even know that native americans were also slaves, and a slave trade of the Indians formed and your people were transferred from here to europe. why do people like you even comment this ? people like you referring to dumbass's that don't know what they speak of.
@dragons1100 You can't move on from history. My people were pushed off too, and it's not something you can just forget and move on from. It's never as simple as that
I especially like the way he makes modern day rappers like Little Wayne, Rick Ross and *insert random rapper's name here* look like the simple-minded fools that they are. Black Ice is the kind of poet who makes you listen, then take a a break, rewind, then listen again.
Most of us here would consider themselves lucky if we could touch one-hundreth of the amount of people Black Ice touches with his poetry.
Much props to ya BI, and i'm sorry our species is so fucked up to force you into this!

@war0cloud. He's a poet and he speaks of issues that are close to his heart. People like to be critics and criticizes. I mean you no disrespect when I say your statement is foolish one. Because the only person displaying partial compassion is you. Next time you listen to a man displaying his heart and art. Try not to stand on your illusionary mountain top, casting down your commandment of 1. " I think, therefore I judge". Listen, hear and feel. Then contribute something positive of your own.LOVE
@yawfosu1@yawfosu1 I see no difference between my comment and yours. You're casting your own judgment.. not sure what you mean by your "commandment of 1" though (probably just trying to sound super deep and poetic)... So i ask a question about a man's view point and I'm 'casting judgment from a mountaintop'???? wtf really? You must be super oppressed... darn whites!!!!
@war0cloud I wasn't trying to sound like anything brother... I was just being me... But the fact is your statement came across like some one who is frightened and weak. And every time you write you show your spirit to be a feeble one. No one mentioned colour, only you have... I know you, more than you know yourself. So that in its self gives me the right, not to judge, but to tell you about yourself. ONE LOVE
@yawfosu1 You wish, brother. I don't see how you perceive weakness by my op. No one mentioned color, huh? Maybe you didn't watch the video there, o enlightened one. Please, please tell me more about myself! BIG UPS FO REALZ! WOOOOOOOOOOOORD!
@war0cloud Your trying to defend the indefensible bro. What im trying to get you to over-stand is that, this isn't a black and white debate. You have only comprehended this piece as one. This is a common phenomenon when people of what ever persuasion take a sides, when no side needs to be taken. And it comes about through a brain washing process based on base fear. If you hear a man rebel about a system of slavery, exploitation and hate. Why would condemn his words. You spoke about compassion
@yawfosu1 Again, blacks are not the only ones to have been f#ked by the system. I'm pissed at the system too. Testing on unknowing soldiers, rural lands being ravaged by greedy industry and left for dead, wars fought over lies. People of all races around the world... and all we hear from this type of thinking is about the oppression of the black by the white. I think this leads to your kind of victimization mentality that leads to a sort of, dare I say, reverse racism. Look up George Carlin...
@war0cloud Ok! let me break this down to you in simple layman terms so you maybe able to over-stand. First of all, there is no such term as reverse-racism. Thats a term co-opted by people who have no understanding of the simplicity of the English language. (Racism) The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. Therefore the term racism isn't based on whites treating black people in a particular way.
@war0cloud Racism as a term stands by it's self. So to reverse it, you come out with a term MSICAR. Which means nothing to me. Oscar Wilde said.. If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you. I know a lot about G Carlin. (a good man and a fine comedian) He used this tactic to excellent effect, but as an educated scholar, I don't need to listen to a dead comedian to know the truth about life...
@war0cloud@war0cloud I don't mean to be personal but you have an almighty chip on your shoulder, which is blocking sound to your ears and blood to your brain. Which in turn makes everything you write come out sounding lame. Let me reiterate one last time. The poem wasn't about black and white. Its about power, politics and the mistreatment of people who are black and poor. You have taken this stance based on you own deluded colour prejudiced reality tunnel. Check yourself...
@yawfosu1 George Carlin was pissed too, but when I hear him speak he's pissed about the stuff that has been done to everyone, not just one particular group. (particularly because those greedy bastards are some of his ilk)... That's all I'm saying. If you're pissed, be pissed, but know that you're not the only one and you're not friggin special.
@war0cloud -Being a victim doesn't in anyway make you special. But some cases of victimization should be treated as special cases. Instead of listening to comedy read some books from time to time. Open your eyes to how big the slavery phenomenon was and see how it has changed the fabric of the Earth from Africa to the Americas. I could go on and on but, i just hope I have planted a little seed in you, you can now go of in to the world and water yourself with wisdom so that compassion you spoke
@war0cloud can flourish and grow. Because I feel you can do it, it may take time, in this life or the next, but if you truly believe you will get there. Next time you hear a man talking about his pain, try not to look at his colour look at his pain... One Love Peace...
@yawfosu1 I feel his pain, but also see the fact that he has a one sided view on the issue.. he's so upset about whats been done to HIS PEOPLE, but either isn't capable, or isn't aware of the fact that its a larger issue and then chooses not to speak on it. George c. was an example of someone who is able to speak publicly about issues without his race colored glasses mucking everything up.
I like stuff like this, but why is it when black people do it they make it sound like only they been exploited? If you talk about you soul and how much you care for fellow man then why only black man? There is some kind of hate there, not the love he speaks of.
@war0cloud so who exactly is he SUPPOSED to speak for?! It's not like people of other races have ever rushed to have our backs in fact the ONLY people to die with us were the Jews and even times they weren't always for the 'cause' you get what you give so what'd you expect?!
heard this poetry about two yrs ago and its like am hearing it for the first time every time i paly it. black ice is the truth.hope alot of ppl would see things in this light.
poetry changes with the times. i don't know why we spend so much time studying shakespeare in school, when its no where near as relevant today as this stuff. If i was an english teacher and i was allowed, i'd just show clips of def jam for poetry studies. bet no one would forget black ice's poems as fast as we forget bullshit like macbeth.
@chefawkes You study shakespeare and stuff because without shakespeare would there have been a Black Ice? No, it was the basis for a lot of poetry and who knows, it might've influenced black ice.
@chefawkes I don't know where this debate comes from, but Black Ice's form would not exist without Shakespeare. Content aside, Shakespeare did an immeasurable amount for the art form when it was stagnating. Then, there are many who would contend that Arabic poetry had the market cornered long before Shakespeare came along.
Basically you just sound really ignorant as to the whole of what poetry is.That's like saying "People don't give a fuck about Run DMC and KRS-One because Jay-Z is the truth."
@Noxshus he wasn't saying that mac beth and Shakespeare isn't important i thought that's what he was saying to until i read it again. What he was saying that black ice has much more of an impact rather than Shakespeare does.
@Noxshus not biased fact arabic poetry is well known and so is arabic language.in fact arabs call non-arabs a'jam which literally means some1 who cant speak cuz the arabic language is so advanced that other languages is like u cant even speak in compared 2 eloquence.i mean traditional arabic not that hybrid rubbish being spoken 2day
@LilBlitz116 I understand your point. I already stated that in my comment long ago. What I'm saying is, that's your opinion. You can't make a subjective statement and say it's a "fact."
@Noxshus it is a fact though.name 1 language that can come within 100 miles of arabic as far as eloquence and expression.hebrew is pretty deep but falls short and 4get all european and african languages
@chefawkes Well you did say that you would "just" show def poetry clips. I hate to say it man, as much as I hated having Shakespeare shoved down my throat in high school, it should not be done away with. Do I think that more modern forms of poetry should be paid attention to in school? Well sure, it's only right. But if we ignore the past then our futures have no chance. Every thing we are is because of every thing we were.
@chefawkes Shove off imbecile. Shakespeare had far better mastery of his language than this performer.
If you were an English teacher you would understand how repugnant this performer's language is, how completely unsystematic and borken down his morphology and syntax are.
@federalist29 Art is art, my friend. It is not made to be criticized, just appreciated. When you start putting judgements on any art form, whether it appeals to your personal taste or not, then you are doing even your own art a terrible injustice. Also, just an FYI, just because this chefawkes has a different viewpoint from you, insulting his intelligence by calling him an imbecile is a horrible way to show your maturity. Debates are won with intelligence, not insults. Thanks
First, if you never criticize art, it never improves. 2. I like this guys performances--he is very compelling. But there is very little in his language that is asthetic, only his delivery is so. 4. Since chefhawks's opinion is based on sheer stupidity, he kinda deserves the insult. If his opinion were only an opinion based on taste, it would be different. Such as my dislike for the cavalier poets of the English civil war period. But You can tell I know what i am talking about, in contrast tochef
@federalist29 That is only if you are arrogant enough to believe that your own criticism on another person's art will improve it. That is also considering whether or not that artist is looking for criticism or "improvement." Art is a reflection of self. How can you improve someone that is expressing what is inside (of course this is discounting obvious, concrete mistakes such as grammar, spelling, and diction). As for Chef, I refuse to speak of a person's intelligence whom I do not know.
@SchizophrenicSamurai It is true that art reflects the self, but reflection itself does not make something artful. It's all in how the relefction is represented that makes art, no matter the medium. And it does not take arrogance to think a criticism will improve someone else's art if you yourself know something about the artform being discussed and are trying to be constructed. But my original comment said little about the video, I was just pissed to see something as stupid as chef's comment.
@federalist29 Then our opinions differ greatly on art. If reflection of one's self does not equal art then what is art? Is there a council or jury that a piece of work must pass through before it can be considered art? No, I'm sorry, but I must disagree. I do not like techno. I find it very aggravating and literally refuse to be in the same room when it plays. This does not mean I do not recognize it as an art form though, regardless of it being outside of my preference. Anyways, nice talking 2u
@SchizophrenicSamurai You recognize techno as an artform because you also recognize the skill, the technique, and the dedication required to make a well constructed piece of techno music. But you would also recognize the difference in a well made techno song, and one poorly constructed. You would also say that some techno artists are better than others, I am sure. In any form, an artists must not merely reflect life but reflect it with skill and diliberate intention before he will produce art.
@federalist29 You are suggesting there are rules to art1 If there were rules to how to create a "correct" piece of techno then surely that would make it absolutely impossible for new forms of techno to emerge because in order for new forms of techno to emerge they would have to bend the old "rules" of the former. BTW no, I do not recognize the difference between good and bad techno, only the skill, technique, and dedication. Besides, skill and deliberate intention does not describe abstract art.
@federalist29 Sorry, I had just a little bit more to say beyond the text limit of YouTube. Anyways, if you feel that this person's opinion is based in not having enough knowledge of a subject, then perhaps you should take Noxshus' as a good example of trying to teach and educate people rather than simp

Like a lot of things in life, people have been trick, hoodwinked, bamboozled (lmao) into believing things that simply aren't true!! If you do some research you will see that I'm not just typing this to be an asshole!! Bottom line: Shakespeare was a fraud!! That is all lol
mateo1000ful 4 months ago
@mateo1000ful Way fuckin' wrong. Shakespeare was a diamond in the rough which means yes, he 'was' illiterate along with his family until he later on became a world renound poet.. :)

years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand;sorry i didnt want that happening to me

queen850 8 months ago 24
@queen850 What are you saying? You personally did not experience slavery or being moved over so you, with all due respect, do not deserve to speak on behalf of the ones that did, and slavery IS still alive but its not just blacks anymore. I realize the whole slavery thing sucked ass but there is nothing we can do about it, it is the past. But you didn't experience it, you have no say, and we didn't do it so why shove it in our face? That's like Jews blaming modern day Germans for the Holocaust
FAMExSWAGG 2 months ago
@FAMExSWAGG That are argument is olnly for those who don't know their history. Segregation did not end then or lynching; or currently if you take the time to read a book and read shame of a nation by john kozol. Pay close attention to the pay gap due to race or just pay attention to the statistics on education. You can re-zone an area to move funds for education or look up gentrification. Lastly who said we blame you or the average american.
jjonesword 2 months ago
@jjonesword top comment...TSGS21..."I see a white man in the crowd..." anybody that says "White America"...fuck we are struggling too...but Jewish people are not saying "We went through the Holocaust and Egyptian slavery.." living in the past won't help the future
FAMExSWAGG 2 months ago
@FAMExSWAGG You won't understand and I try to focus on those that I can help comprehend. I know everyone is struggling due to the economy but you won't see even then unemployment rate broken down by race makes a huge difference. Be blessed, I hope you will understand one day.
jjonesword 2 months ago
@FAMExSWAGG I kind of agree but then again slavery wasn't the end. After slavery there was segregation and nothing but hatred towards blacks, crippling their way of life for today, providing them terrible education, and putting drugs into their society. The whole idea of predominantly black areas should have never existed. Also I understand that everyone is not doing good, but a white American is in no position to compare their struggling with those of other races and nationalities.
duke1fan90 2 days ago
@queen850 dragons1100 is native American...Native Americans were raped, beaten, murdered, enslaved, slaughtered, massacred, not to mention were the first to be exposed to biological warfare...and to this day Native Americans live on reservations they wanted their own sovereign states but from what i hear living conditions are poor and murder and rape are still constant among their people...from one time being the only race on N. Amer. now they make up less than 2% of the population YOU get real
templarmoney1 1 month ago

YouLaToya 1 month ago 2
@YouLaToya

Then contribute something positive of your own.LOVE
yawfosu1 1 year ago
@yawfosu1 @yawfosu1 I see no difference between my comment and yours. You're casting your own judgment.. not sure what you mean by your "commandment of 1" though (probably just trying to sound super deep and poetic)... So i ask a question about a man's view point and I'm 'casting judgment from a mountaintop'???? wtf really? You must be super oppressed... darn whites!!!!
war0cloud 1 year ago
@war0cloud I wasn't trying to sound like anything brother... I was just being me... But the fact is your statement came across like some one who is frightened and weak. And every time you write you show your spirit to be a feeble one. No one mentioned colour, only you have... I know you, more than you know yourself. So that in its self gives me the right, not to judge, but to tell you about yourself. ONE LOVE
yawfosu1 1 year ago
@yawfosu1 You wish, brother. I don't see how you perceive weakness by my op. No one mentioned color, huh? Maybe you didn't watch the video there, o enlightened one. Please, please tell me more about myself! BIG UPS FO REALZ! WOOOOOOOOOOOORD!
war0cloud 1 year ago
@war0cloud Your trying to defend the indefensible bro. What im trying to get you to over-stand is that, this isn't a black and white debate. You have only comprehended this piece as one. This is a common phenomenon when people of what ever persuasion take a sides, when no side needs to be taken. And it comes about through a brain washing process based on base fear. If you hear a man rebel about a system of slavery, exploitation and hate. Why would condemn his words. You spoke about compassion
yawfosu1 1 year ago
@war0cloud but there has been nothing compassionate about your own remarks.
yawfosu1 1 year ago
@yawfosu1 Again, blacks are not the only ones to have been f#ked by the system. I'm pissed at the system too. Testing on unknowing soldiers, rural lands being ravaged by greedy industry and left for dead, wars fought over lies. People of all races around the world... and all we hear from this type of thinking is about the oppression of the black by the white. I think this leads to your kind of victimization mentality that leads to a sort of, dare I say, reverse racism. Look up George Carlin...
war0cloud 1 year ago
@war0cloud Ok! let me break this down to you in simple layman terms so you maybe able to over-stand. First of all, there is no such term as reverse-racism. Thats a term co-opted by people who have no understanding of the simplicity of the English language. (Racism) The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. Therefore the term racism isn't based on whites treating black people in a particular way.
yawfosu1 1 year ago
@war0cloud Racism as a term stands by it's self. So to reverse it, you come out with a term MSICAR. Which means nothing to me. Oscar Wilde said.. If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you. I know a lot about G Carlin. (a good man and a fine comedian) He used this tactic to excellent effect, but as an educated scholar, I don't need to listen to a dead comedian to know the truth about life...
yawfosu1 1 year ago
@war0cloud @war0cloud I don't mean to be personal but you have an almighty chip on your shoulder, which is blocking sound to your ears and blood to your brain. Which in turn makes everything you write come out sounding lame. Let me reiterate one last time. The poem wasn't about black and white. Its about power, politics and the mistreatment of people who are black and poor. You have taken this stance based on you own deluded colour prejudiced reality tunnel. Check yourself...
yawfosu1 1 year ago

war0cloud 1 year ago
@yawfosu1 George Carlin was pissed too, but when I hear him speak he's pissed about the stuff that has been done to everyone, not just one particular group. (particularly because those greedy bastards are some of his ilk)... That's all I'm saying. If you're pissed, be pissed, but know that you're not the only one and you're not friggin special.
war0cloud 1 year ago
@war0cloud -Being a victim doesn't in anyway make you special. But some cases of victimization should be treated as special cases. Instead of listening to comedy read some books from time to time. Open your eyes to how big the slavery phenomenon was and see how it has changed the fabric of the Earth from Africa to the Americas. I could go on and on but, i just hope I have planted a little seed in you, you can now go of in to the world and water yourself with wisdom so that compassion you spoke
yawfosu1 1 year ago
@war0cloud can flourish and grow. Because I feel you can do it, it may take time, in this life or the next, but if you truly believe you will get there. Next time you hear a man talking about his pain, try not to look at his colour look at his pain... One Love Peace...
yawfosu1 1 year ago
@yawfosu1 I feel his pain, but also see the fact that he has a one sided view on the issue.. he's so upset about whats been done to HIS PEOPLE, but either isn't capable, or isn't aware of the fact that its a larger issue and then chooses not to speak on it. George c. was an example of someone who is able to speak publicly about issues without his race colored glasses mucking everything up.
war0cloud 1 year ago
I like stuff like this, but why is it when black people do it they make it sound like only they been exploited? If you talk about you soul and how much you care for fellow man then why only black man? There is some kind of hate there, not the love he speaks of.
war0cloud 1 year ago
@war0cloud... One hour devoted to the pursuit of beauty and love is worth a full century of glory given by the frightened weak to the strong.
yawfosu1 1 year ago
@war0cloud so who exactly is he SUPPOSED to speak for?! It's not like people of other races have ever rushed to have our backs in fact the ONLY people to die with us were the Jews and even times they weren't always for the 'cause' you get what you give so what'd you expect?!

chefawkes 11 months ago
@chefawkes I don't know where this debate comes from, but Black Ice's form would not exist without Shakespeare. Content aside, Shakespeare did an immeasurable amount for the art form when it was stagnating. Then, there are many who would contend that Arabic poetry had the market cornered long before Shakespeare came along.
Basically you just sound really ignorant as to the whole of what poetry is.That's like saying "People don't give a fuck about Run DMC and KRS-One because Jay-Z is the truth."

ShivMan007 10 months ago
@chefawkes Well you did say that you would "just" show def poetry clips. I hate to say it man, as much as I hated having Shakespeare shoved down my throat in high school, it should not be done away with. Do I think that more modern forms of poetry should be paid attention to in school? Well sure, it's only right. But if we ignore the past then our futures have no chance. Every thing we are is because of every thing we were.

@chefawkes Shove off imbecile. Shakespeare had far better mastery of his language than this performer.
If you were an English teacher you would understand how repugnant this performer's language is, how completely unsystematic and borken down his morphology and syntax are.
federalist29 10 months ago
@federalist29 Art is art, my friend. It is not made to be criticized, just appreciated. When you start putting judgements on any art form, whether it appeals to your personal taste or not, then you are doing even your own art a terrible injustice. Also, just an FYI, just because this chefawkes has a different viewpoint from you, insulting his intelligence by calling him an imbecile is a horrible way to show your maturity. Debates are won with intelligence, not insults. Thanks
SchizophrenicSamurai 10 months ago
First, if you never criticize art, it never improves. 2. I like this guys performances--he is very compelling. But there is very little in his language that is asthetic, only his delivery is so. 4. Since chefhawks's opinion is based on sheer stupidity, he kinda deserves the insult. If his opinion were only an opinion based on taste, it would be different. Such as my dislike for the cavalier poets of the English civil war period. But You can tell I know what i am talking about, in contrast tochef
federalist29 10 months ago
@federalist29 That is only if you are arrogant enough to believe that your own criticism on another person's art will improve it. That is also considering whether or not that artist is looking for criticism or "improvement." Art is a reflection of self. How can you improve someone that is expressing what is inside (of course this is discounting obvious, concrete mistakes such as grammar, spelling, and diction). As for Chef, I refuse to speak of a person's intelligence whom I do not know.
SchizophrenicSamurai 10 months ago
@SchizophrenicSamurai It is true that art reflects the self, but reflection itself does not make something artful. It's all in how the relefction is represented that makes art, no matter the medium. And it does not take arrogance to think a criticism will improve someone else's art if you yourself know something about the artform being discussed and are trying to be constructed. But my original comment said little about the video, I was just pissed to see something as stupid as chef's comment.
federalist29 10 months ago
@federalist29 Then our opinions differ greatly on art. If reflection of one's self does not equal art then what is art? Is there a council or jury that a piece of work must pass through before it can be considered art? No, I'm sorry, but I must disagree. I do not like techno. I find it very aggravating and literally refuse to be in the same room when it plays. This does not mean I do not recognize it as an art form though, regardless of it being outside of my preference. Anyways, nice talking 2u
SchizophrenicSamurai 10 months ago
@SchizophrenicSamurai You recognize techno as an artform because you also recognize the skill, the technique, and the dedication required to make a well constructed piece of techno music. But you would also recognize the difference in a well made techno song, and one poorly constructed. You would also say that some techno artists are better than others, I am sure. In any form, an artists must not merely reflect life but reflect it with skill and diliberate intention before he will produce art.
federalist29 10 months ago
@federalist29 You are suggesting there are rules to art1 If there were rules to how to create a "correct" piece of techno then surely that would make it absolutely impossible for new forms of techno to emerge because in order for new forms of techno to emerge they would have to bend the old "rules" of the former. BTW no, I do not recognize the difference between good and bad techno, only the skill, technique, and dedication. Besides, skill and deliberate intention does not describe abstract art.
SchizophrenicSamurai 10 months ago
@federalist29 Sorry, I had just a little bit more to say beyond the text limit of YouTube. Anyways, if you feel that this person's opinion is based in not having enough knowledge of a subject, then perhaps you should take Noxshus' as a good example of trying to teach and educate people rather than simp
