Thank you for uploading this trailer. This takes me back to my childhood. I remember seeing it then and never again. for forty years I have have remembered the little boy playing with a little bubble in his hand;)
I saw this when it first aired 40 years ago. I own it on DVD, and I enjoy it. But, it's got some uber physics, engineering and even medical whopper-bombs in it. Even so, it's not worse in that way than most TV sci-fi.
You make an interesting point. I myself enjoy writing short sf stories set in O'Neill-type space habitats. But it can be a challenge coming up with interesting plots in such an idyllic setting.
While I greatly enjoyed this TV-movie/pilot,I'm wondering just how the producers & writers would have handled Earth II as a weekly series? Once the newness of the show wore off & we became used to the terrific sets & models, where would they go every episode with this premise? How fresh & interesting could they keep it week in & week out?
@cmsahe Introducing new visitors/inhabitants to Earth 2 would provide plots for a time.Eventually though it would become formulaic & repetitive though. Even the Love Boat sailed to different ports. The space station would have only orbited the Earth,it was not capable of exploration at all. Perhaps the show would have included exploration of our solar system via spaceships working out of Earth 2,maybe there were even colonies on the moon as well as Mars. This could offer material for more plots.
Thank you,I remember watching this TV movie back in 1971.As with many made-for-TV movies this also served as a pilot for a weekly TV series. It was a fairly realistic look at life on board a space station & it was presented in a sophisticated manner. The visual FX,sets,& production values were of a high quality.
THANK YOU....it had no chance because what could you write to keep it going for so many weeks and the production costs were horrific...but this is great..thank you from an old fart
Saw this several times while at home sick.

@theironclads The first colony on the Moon could be called Earth III. Or, alternately, just "Alpha".

The soundtrack for this is available at film score monthly under the title 'TV Omnibus', for anyone interested.

I think this is worth looking into. I'll see if the IMDb has anything on it.

I had mentioned getting mine at Deep Discount. There's also a page for it on the Warner Brothers website (wbshop).
