Sphynx cats are the best. Mine is so incredibly friendly and goofy. He gets along with the other cat and dog. They may look strange, or even scary, but give them a chance.

Contrary to popular belief, the hairlessness was a mutation. Two normal cats had kittens, one being hairless, and then they bred it with other cats and so on. One could say that the hairless feature is an act of God, just not practical by evolutionary standards and Darwinism.

@Shaylatheforestfairy No, unfortunately, the hairless cats will still trigger allergic reactions. It's the dander (dead skin) that makes people allergic, not the hair.

I don't understand why you think that because they are bald they are not needed. Cats don't have to have fur to be a great companion. If having no fur wasn't good for these cats then the Sphynx breed would have fur. No, this is not a fake. The Sphynx breed has always been bald. That's just how these cats were created when the very first Sphynx cats were born.

@bellabarrix ...I think people are turned off by the fact that they were BRED not to have fur and it isn't at all natural for them to be that way... this is a human creation not natures, not God's, not anything except selfish people. In a warm home they don't allow themselves to suffer from cold but come on... sun exposure and cold weather would surely kill strays and ferrals of this breed. It's not the cats that turn me off, it's the selfish desire to create a hairless, thus handicapped, breed.

From what I was told at the allergy doctor.. most people who are allergic to cats are allergic to there spit not skin/hair. So if a cat doesn't have hair do they lick themselves just as much? or not at all?
