what group is this piece? (i'm thinking about doing this solo next year) and, stylistically, how is it written? it sounds baroque in some parts but in others i'm not so sure
Well done & articulate performance by both musicians. And thanks to the camera operator who held the camera still (tripod ?) and also let us hear the comments by the judge.
WOW!! This was one of the best versions of this song that I ever saw! I'm serious! I imagine that playing tuba is very, very hard, so here is another motive for my congratulations! Keep playing, because you really have talent for it!
Not bad. I think you could benefit a lot (if you haven't done this already) from putting the instrument between your legs rather than on your thigh. This will create a more downward angle with the lead pipe and hopefully a more open tone.
Your Tone is generally good in the middle range, it needs to be a lot more open in the lower register and upper. In the upper it was tight enough to create intonation problems. To correct this try playing upper notes without 'smiling.'
Great job I really loved it, you did get a bit pitchy in some areas but nothing you can't fix I'm sure. :) I wanted to ask who the arranger of your piece was because I am very interested in playing it for Solo and Ensemble
ug it is so pretty and i love this song :) <3 at first when you played and then you stood up telling him what you were going to play i was like ".... is that it" but then you told him what you were playing lol <3
I LOVE PLAYING TUBA i'm going to TTU i'm not accepted i'm only a sophomore but i know i'll be accepted. my band director said that TTU's director is really hard cause that is where he went and he knows but that makes me afraid to lol ANYWAYS do you have sheet music to this?
Thank You very much for all the nice comments and constructive criticism thus far! The solo itself is NOT complicated. Rhythms are easy and tempo at around 70 bpm. What makes it a challenge is the amount of durability one must sustain so you are able to play it well for its entirety in the high register. The highest note is an E above the staff (bass clef) but you hit it literally only twice. The rest of the piece lies in between the C middle-low staff and the D above staff.
Beautiful. I like the way you emote this piece. It sounds very free spirited, yet precise and flowing. Wonderful job. I should attempt this on tuba some time. I looking for a solo piece to have fun with. This seems like a fun piece.

Did you hear about the story that Jacob's just use to play everything on the big tuba and change mouthpieces.
I play a CC at the moment and I just performed the first two movements of the Gregson on it.
How's it going now? :)

Hey great job! That was really nice.
I don't know why the judge told you to play a technical piece. I think this piece is great. What rating did you end up getting?
I'm also playing it for a recital coming up pretty soon.
Check out my video on my channel!
