although i agree that a lot of 'indie' music has become over popular, and therefore inevitably more poppy, that doesn't mean that all indie music is bad. there are still many great indie bands and singers.

as you said, they want the song to get stuck in your head as a marketing strategy. for the people who like the song, when they think of it, they think of the cell phone and associate it with good music. so yeah, there's a reason they chose an upbeat, catchy song.
