  • essendon should have played in this gf and we would have won with out a doubt

  • @DillZ91 essendon should suck a dick

  • NM flipped flopped from Kangas back to north melbourne because they are a desperate club. Despite all their success in the mid to late 90s they failed to breed ANY supporters and are still a dying a club. They can't keep (or shouldn't) relying on the AFL to keep bailing them out financially

  • @awde2 The reason why we chaged back to North Melbourne is because the supporters wanted it and the reason the AFL changed it was because they belived to call a club North Melbourne in a nationally played comp wasn't right. And you watch in 3 or 4 years we'll be a good side and more expericed than we are now. OUR SPIRIT WELL NEVER DIE.

  • @awde2 We didnt rely on the AFL to bail us out, we turned the AFL down big time. It was James Brayshaw who managed to keep the club from being moved interstate by finding new sponsors. Now we have a larger supporter base, new training facilities and also a good list of players and coaches who are going to take us back to the top.

  • North Melbourne - truly were The Team of the Nineties. Eight years in the top 4/5.

  • Great Post mate. Go You Shinboners!!! Kangas 2011

  • I do remember in the mid 80's ESPN had Australian Rules Football on Saturday mornings. I remember a team called Footscray.

  • I have noticed something in this video. The commentator refers to the (North Melbourne) team as 'The Kangaroos'. The scoreboard in the video reads KAN. and the final scoreboard says Kangaroos. North Melbourne is never mentioned. Why ? Did the team move for that year?

  • @fullmoondrivein No mate. North Melbourne were just referred to as the Kangaroos for a few years. Still playing in Melbourne as North Melbourne. Similar to Footscray changing their name to the Western Bulldogs.

  • @fullmoondrivein Nth Melbourne were renamed the "Kangaroos" in 1999. They were trying to cash in on the theory that in a National competition the name Nth Melbourne was unjustified. However, the traditionalist won, I think it had something to do with James Brayshaw restoring it's original name. Didn't last long anyway. That's just what I remember.

  • @mashfan72 Now we need to get Footscray back to the Western Bulldogs. Sounds like a basketball team.

  • @mashfan72 i agree im a doggies fan and i hate bein last in the order!

  • @mashfan72 they changed to the 'kangaroos' to gain more supporters. Talks about moving the team to canberra or whatever forced them to change the name back to North Melbourne to stick to their roots.

  • @AelitaDJShaffer Carlton (with all their money) tried to buy us that year....We simply had to win this one and we would have also beaten Essendon. Dont forget we had lost the 98 GF and were out for revenge, it didnt matter who it was

  • @AelitaDJShaffer Fuck you. The AFL started 1n 1990. Essendon have won 2 flags. Otherwise Port Adelaide have won more than anyone. The VFL was a different competition. When will you pricktorians fucking realise that?

  • @cliffy0026 the VFL became the AFL

  • go rooboys

  • haHAH dats wat u think comin from a team dat wont make finals or has lost 2 Carlton dis year and dat has less premierships den Carlton i wudnt be bagging Carlton if i were u

  • we beat north just lust week hahah suk dat haha :P

  • so carlton IS GAY!!! and richmond rocks!! nrths my mums team :(

  • and i dont think there is a AFL suporter out there besides a carlton suporter that wouldent agree with me !!

  • Lol. Carlton beat Richmond by 83 points in round one this year and then again a few weeks ago.....

I didnt see richmond making the finals.... However they almost won the wodden spoon hahaha

  • lol good 1

  • Channel Seven bloody hell, you should be showing the players when the siren sounds not the coach.

  • CARN NORTHHH!!

  • poor carlton

  • YEAHHH KANGAS!!!

  • 29 shots at goal each..accuracy was just the issue..so it was a good grand final..very good actually..i remembered watching it and thinking 'the margin makes no sense..theyre dead even on scoreboard scores' lol ah well im biast..i wanted carlton 2 win this..but eh seeing north melbourne avenging 1998 was sweet 2.

  • when bruce mcavaney said 'st kilda had them beaten' at the scg in round 5, there was only 2-3 goals in it all night .. how is that having a team beaten? lol in 1999

round 1 - lost to geelong by 6

round 2 - lost to essendon by 35 points

round 4 - lost to sydney by 2 points

so i dont understand why bruce said that..they were competitive..they could have easily won the close ones they lost and after round 5 they only lost to:

    round 15 - bulldogs by 7 goals

    round 17 - essendon by 26 points

  • ROOS 19.10 (Bell 4, Grant 4, McKernan 3, Abraham 2, Carey 2, Motlop 2, Sholl, Welsh) def CARL 12.17 (Camporeale 2, Lappin 2, Whitnall 2, Allan, Beaumont, Brown, Hamill, Ratten, Rice)

  • fuck come on carlton

  • w00t!

  • essendon handed the roos this one

  • I agree with you.

  • i remember listening to Carlton play Essendon on the radio and cheering for the blues because they would be an easier opponent. still, you gotta be in it to win it.

    go roos!

  • @zach336 i hoped they played the bombers!

  • i go for north melbourne but i would 100% agree with you mate..... essondon kicked themselves out of the againts carlton very unlucky not to get back to back........ but north melbourne were a top team too cant take anything away from them.......the thing i remember from that ess vs carl game was mark mercuri kicking that heartbreaking point

  • its all about luck in finals. North made up for it they were unlucky not to win in '98 they deserved that one. Adeliade didnt deseve either of their premierships they finished 6th on the ladder for both seasons.

  • I concur, however, I do believe Adelaide finished fourth in 1997 and fifth in 1998 when they won their two premierships.

Anyway, if their last encounter in Round 17 was to go by then the 1999 Grand Final, which should have been between Essendon and North Melbourne would have been an excellent match. Shame the Bombers stumbled by a point otherwise we would have been in for a treat.

  • @JacobBarton0003 wuts dat suppose to mean? say whatever essendon marshmellow's!
