Congrats on your Win Win (literally, double wins!) in the We Love Your Songs contests w/ uPlaya! Can't wait to see what's to come of this band in the future!
Thank you for posting this! I have a tape of Roman Holiday. Good stuff! I like them because they were diffrent. Thats what new wave music of the 80's was about. Bands doing diffrent things. Unlike todays music with rap/hip hop bands, and other bands too, do samples and shit. Pepole that don't write their own music because they probibly can't. Shitty music!
I was at Swansea in 2003 whan they supported Belle Stars. As a memeber of the SU I sat in an empty hall as the only member of the audience whilst they did their sound check. They just played their set.On the night they blew Belle Stars out of the water.

I had the good fortune to meet Steve...the lead singer a while back as I did some work on his house. I saw a gold record hanging on the wall and asked him about it. Naturally (as a musician myself) I asked him if we could chat a bit after I was finished my work. We chatted for 30 minutes or so and I found him to be a super nice English gent. Very humble guy considering the success he's had over the years. Never heard of this band before meeting him, but they were really quite awesome!
carl, your right. 83 was the last great year for mtv no doubt. no born in the usa yet or purple rain or missing you by john waite. plus by 1984 videos were more like big hollywood productions with real long intros...
Thanx so much for this...oh wow!!! i still have my record of roman holiday...they were a different style in the 80's...course that is what made the 80's...the different style of music...unlike today's music (blah)
I always thought Roman Holliday was what happened when a doo-wop group ran into the pit band that just played a production of "South Pacific," shot a speed-ball, and decided to jam.
I just loved these guys. When we first played stuff from this record on the radio, the phones just lit up with people wanting to know who it was. Same goes at the college bar I spun records at. Saturday night, the dance floored packed to their song, "Stand By,' and the kids didn't even know how to swing dance.
I wish I had this in college! Dr. Brian Bonhomme was one of my professors! I used to go to a coffee shop and watch him play a few songs with a couple of my classmates. Cool dude in person.
I remember seeing this on MTV back when the record companies didn't dictate what songs they played. They just took the videos they liked best and played them. Those were the days...

@LolaCrazy222 To be fair this is a mish mash of the swing era. i would not blame urban/hip hop music for rock and pop music's current failure.
