The first amendment is not jsut about the freedom of speech but also the freedom of expression. Therefore you think that your right to express your opinion should be protected. On that point you are correct, but at the same time the right for the business to express their right to express their right to do business--which is another form of expression--is also protected. What I saw in all the video footage, was a peaceful protest.

up UNTIL the police told them to disburse. At which time, be it right or wrong they should do just that and reform somewhere else or if the police are really being out of line, make a dicision to stand or flee. I'd say flee, regroup, storm them in numbers, try not to beat them up and zip tie there hand & feet together and drop them off at the police station as a citizen's arrest and press charges.

permits are not about asking the government for permission. Rather they are about securing the right for people to protest peacefully and securing that people and property are not harmed. You do not have a right to walk into someone's house and boycott them, so why should you have the right to stand in front of a business and stop people form entering that business? Who is unamerican here? Permits and police are a means of securing that people and property are not harmed.

That's NOT true. Some people hide their identity at protests because of a better sense of history. They KNOW the military is taking pictures and making lists. They also KNOW that being on those lists may end up getting you MURDERED in the street by a guy on a uniform, with a badge, a gun, and some flag on his sleeve! Some just want their PRIVACY respected. Depending on the protest, a mask isn't such a bad idea.
