The last debate was an entire policy debate. As far as I could tell it was a push. A policy stump speech is silly. There is a difference between the two. A stump speech is intended to inspire and rally. A town hall perhaps could involve more policy, or a debate.

Speeches shouldn't give specific details on specific issues, they SHOULD address the overall problems and his feelings about them. I agree that specifics are very important, but I can look those up about candidates. A speech should motivate people and inspire them.

Cleary rhetoric assuages the fears of many Americans. Despite increasing the popularity of participating in political processes, Obama plays only on Americans' taste for simple, soothing solutions. It's difficult not to be a cynic in this world. I admire Obama's "hopeful" attitude - but I recognize that this word "hope" has an enormous influence on the weak & desperate. It's a Santa Claus & Black Pete paradigm for adults. People don't care about eventual action, only the peace of being coddled.

The last debate was an entire policy debate. As far as I could tell it was a push. A policy stump speech is silly. There is a difference between the two. A stump speech is intended to inspire and rally. A town hall perhaps could involve more policy, or a debate.
Clinton may be more substantive but that isn't necessarily a good thing. Hell, G-Dubs screamed no nation-building in stumps, debates, ads, and townhalls back in the day. How did that work out?

I appreciate how Obama ends his speeches. He hardly ever says - God bless you. I also like the Langston Hughes reference - dreams will not be deferred.

Speeches shouldn't give specific details on specific issues, they SHOULD address the overall problems and his feelings about them. I agree that specifics are very important, but I can look those up about candidates. A speech should motivate people and inspire them.
I'm tired of politicians saying "no you can't!" I want people telling me "yes THEY can!" I want them to run on what they CAN do, not what there opponent "CAN'T".

Great job Barack and congratulations to your organization! This man will put together a fantastic cabinet when he becomes president. He will boldly lead the populace and keep all of us focused so that we can get things done. The haters will get over themselves and join the rest of us once their psychic wounds have healed. His "Obaba-can" schtick was fantastic! If he shows well, even losing, but closely, in Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania it'll be a nightmare scenario for the Clintons and the party wheels. If the super-deligates hand it to Clinton in any way that is perceived as underhanded or based in quid pro quo's, this could destroy the future of the party. I say this because B has electrified the youth, and they'd be disillusioned and unlikely to show up for Clinton in November.
