  • I normally add a bit of sugar into the rice as well as the rice vinegar - it gives it a bit more flavouring.

  • Salmon roe are the big eggs, called Ikura. Tobiko is some other kind of fish egg

  • @aliciakay444 i think by the name "Sweet rice" it's used in more sweet or desserts? i'm not sure. any short grain right will do. i'm sure if you go to an asian market, you can find short grain rice. i THINK you can use jasmine rice. i'm not sure :x

  • You need sharper knife, try getting a ceramic one or something, plus it doesnt stick to it as well! honestly...and I love the ziploc trick, gonna try itIm a veg, so I dont put meat in it I use carrot green onion and avocado in mine, and squirt a little mayo on the rice ans spread it on first, and I use hemp seed. Someone I know used quinoa instead of rice, and it was super good!

  • Freakin genius using the ziploc bags to put your bamboo mat in. I, like everyone else have been using the cling wrap which tends to come off and get fish and rice in the mat. Thanks!!!

  • that is not california roll. you do not mix crab or crab imitation like that and not with mayo. the whole pieces should go in. also where is your cucumber?? so in conclusion the california roll is crab/lobster or imitation, avocado and cucumber. this is the nice combination...

  • firrrst off. not enough rice. second, tobiko is the more common version of masago. which is not salmon roe. salmon roe is a bigger egg. masago is capellin roe.and tobiko is flying fish eggs.

  • Thanks for the excellent video on making sushi - tried out the ziplock and ir worked great! One thing I did find was that the Nori peeled the printing off the bag, so make sure you use the unprinted side! :) My favorite filling so far is fake crab, mango, cucumber, and some pickled ginger.

I guess you could say I'm addicted to sushi (which was hesitant to eating it until my husband talked me into it LOL) and it gets pretty expensive buying it in the grocery store or at the restaurant so i decided its high time i learned how to make it... And out of all the videos I have watched yours was far more informative and interesting not to mention your sushi looked awesome!!
