@funkyrob great vid bro really helped thanks! One problem I'm having is my tracks are not as loud as my other mp3s in traktor, is it something I need to do on my mixer or audacity ? I've selected all the track and normalized as u said but sound quaility is poor in comparison!
@aw5omeFRAZA Afraid so. If you have full albums, sometimes it may be better to purchase from a download site. My vinyl collection is primarily 12" singles with extended, instrumental and sometimes acappella versions of the same song. Not usually the kind of stuff you get from the download sites.
I know you posted this a LONG time ago.. But i just wanted to say thanks.. I was looking for a way to get my LP's into MP3.. So i can take those tunes on the go.. and with your help. I was finally able to.. So thanks man.. I appreciate it..
FunkyRob I thank you on an important tutorial on converting vinyls (LPs) to CDs or MP3s (one of the other), I been fucking learning this stuff how to get my favorite music to an mp3 player and soon on keep my files to a thumb flash drive, et cetera. U Familiar with mediaconverter, zamzar and youconvertit?
Glad I could help. This particular video is pretty old now. At the time, I couldn't find anything on this subject on youtube. Not familiar with the programs you've mentioned. Recently my focuses have changed on adding MP4 music videos to my dj library.
FB another thing man I finally got audacity installed to my acer laptop and now been getting used of converting my favorite music from wavs to mp3s or certain ones I copy off from youtube and others. I'm so used to the effects added on the program. Again special thanks.
i downloaded the audacity and when i go to record vinyl i dont hear any sound. i have the rca to stereo plugs but i dont see the signals indicating the software is recieving the signal. what port do u plug the rca plugs into if the turntable rca's are already in. i dont see a record out on my mixer. i have several lines, phono, booth, and amp. i tried connecteing to a line but i doesnt work. can anyone help.
Hey I downloaded a copy of the audacity software and i'm having problems operating it. It appears that the functions are all grayed out. I realize that this is an indication of inactivity but I dont know what to do to activate the functions of the software. Can anyone assist me?
Very informative tutorial. I've been doing vinyl rips of my records since getting a NuMark TTUSB. I use Audacity on a PowerBook G4, but save the files first was WAV files, then convert them with iTunes to gapless VBR mp3 files (mainly because I rip whole albums and burn them to CD's), archive those, and then do another conversion to AAC files for my iPod.
That's actually the default file format for iTunes and the iPod. A 128kbps AAC file sounds just as high-quality as a VBR mp3 file, but will only take up the exact amount of space as an "almost-CD-quality" 128kbps mp3 file. Thus, the ability to have as much music as possible on an iPod without compromising sound quality.
I've kinda given up on traktor scratch. It runs like poo, once I moved all my songs to an external hard drive. My powerbook is now listed as the minimum mac on the spec list. I guess I'll hold onto it until I can afford a newer computer.
How long u had the mac? I got an Acer it's kinda kewl. I'll check out audacity and yes check some software around at local computer stores or online. I had someone recommend to try either Roxio or Honestech. Don't know which 1 will work. Time will tell I just got 2 be patient. Again thank u.
Sounds like you've got a slow computer, or low memory.....or you have other things running. My computer will do that too on occasion, it doesn't necessarily mean that the file has drop outs though. It's probably OK.
Ok. Will this also work for cassette tapes,or will I need a separate program for that? Also, what if the record (this is from personal experience) sounds like it was used as a frisbee?
Same exact concept from a cassette, just watch the levels and I guess move your computer near your stereo. I once recorded a cassette by hooking a walkman up to my computer. Sounded OK too.
As far as super crackly records, there's tons of software out there. A few years back when I was using Windows, I used a program called Pyro that had some built in noise reduction tools. If you turned them too high though, the recording would actually sound "over processed". I can't really describe it, but you could tell. I've been thinking about getting something call SoundSoap. The demo was pretty impressive.
I'm transferring,as we speak,a tape by a band called Icehouse. Not just one track, the whole tape. I'm,and I was surprised this worked, using my friend's Panasonic home tabletop stereo via headphone jack!
omg is that club noveau or however that vinyl can u please please send me that instrumental... is it WHY YOU TREAT ME SO BAD... btw what kinda tables do you have i have some stantons and i was jw cuz im gonna upgrade..
No instrumental. 4 tracks: Club Mix, Radio Edit, Ultimate Nouveau Mix, & LP version. Turntables are actually black Technics 1210 MKII's that I've had since 1991. I bought those metal blue covers, sanded them down, and spray painted them with a gloss white. So I got White 1200's :)

Could you take a little more time explaninig the process?
klavoz2 8 months ago
Jeez, do you have to do this with every song on, say, a 2xLP??? that would take ages!!!

Does anyone know of Software that will Automatically Create Tracks for you by recognizing low noise in between songs?
Will Sony Sorce Forge do it?

good tutorial.
but mp3s suck. especially for djing. on loud soundsystems there is a decrease in lower frequencies on mp3s as compared to wav or flac.
you forgot to mention things like having a really good stylus on the turntable, etc.

why not record in flac? or in a lossless file?

To my knowledge, Serato doesn't support it yet.

but traktor scratch it does :D

after i record and play the tune back its real spazzy at some parts(dropouts, skipping) - also why are the files so large?

Cool. Thanks for the info.

The files are huge because they are .wav files. Once you save them as mp3, they become much smaller.

Good video. Youve convinced me to go from Goldwave to Audacity for recording my Traktor mixes.
I record live, using one sound card, and rear speaker output for headphones.
