The album not selling that much might sound a bit like an excuse. They could promote further sales by playing the good songs off it, specially this one which is a gem. But the vocals are very demanding of Brian's high register, he couldn't possibly do them today. He even struggled back then. Probably shot his voice because of it. He sounded terrible in FOTW.
The reason they don't play anything from FOTS (and haven't done since 1984) is because it wasn't a particularly successful album. It has nothing to do with their opinion of it as a band. It's about the fact that a very good percentage of their audience on any given arena/stadium night has never heard it. As for the opinions of "big fans", I can assure you if they ever did some small club dates again and dusted something from FOTS off - GFH say - the place would go f*cking ballistic...
ACDC MAL AND ANGUS SEEM LIKE THE MOST HUMBLE DOWN TO EARTH KIND OF GUYS..IF YOU LISTEN TO THEIR INTERVIEWS THEY ALMOST ALWAYS SPEAK ABOUT WHAT THE KIDS WANT...THEIR FANS DO COME FIRST...AND THATS A REAL REFRESHING SIGHT WITH ALL THESE MATERIALISTIC ASS HOLES IN MUSIC NOW..THE GOOD OLD DAYS..THANKS MAL ANGUS AND THE ACDC BAND
There's good reason you'll never hear a song from "Flick of the Switch" or "Fly on the Wall" in their live shows. Being one of the biggest and longest running AC/DC fans (since 1977) it pains me to say that these are by far their worst albums. Malcolm was in the height of his own alcoholism problems, and Phil had lost his mojo. In fact it was during the recording of FOTS that Phil had quit following a physical altercation with Malcolm. They just didn't have it going on during these 2 albums.
If they ever do one more tour(hope so), i would like to see them doing atleast one track from this album and FOTW aswell. Those albums needs to be praised in some way in the end. They were not successful albums back than, but still many people became fans around that time, and are still around as huge fans, i am one of them.
Althoug they stand for it, AD/DC themselves underrate FOTS by no including a single song from it in ther setlist. It's a shame 'cause this album really rocks, I wish could see Nervous Shakedown, Deep In A Hole live... On the other hand, people keep on stating this is their most underrated album, on and on, this means, after all, that it's not that underrated. True AC/DC fans gotta love the whole album, just like I do.
@JeronimoPalma At the time, in 1983, you had a lot of new talented bands, especially in hard-rock, like Def Leppard or Maiden, who were really breakin'through, and the rock music was more sophisticated, including more videoclips. With FOTS, ACDC was really not mainstream, and even the so-called die-hard fans, criticized the band for having made something quite basic....
there is, its on the backtracks box set only, from big gun all the way to anything goes. and bonus never before seen vids, like alternatives to the back in black promos, and some from the bon scott era.
Nervous Shakedown - what a f**king awesome track that one was..the guitars, solo, the intense vocals, the raw production...great stuff. Good interview.
FLICK OF THE SWITCH, POWERAGE and FLY ON THE WALL are all underrated.

Great song and album - but I sometimes wish they did care more about their vids. Their best ones have a little bit of concept to them.
