  • the mission licked balls, and this version of serpents kiss shows you why, see also marian/wasteland. i still wish theyd stayed together for another album though.

  • 1:50 sounds like the temple of love intro.

  • i love both bands :)

  • hussey was penning his own material wile still with the sisters there is also a version of "garden of delight" sung by eldridge

  • Shame the 'classic' sisters never did album number 2! Gary Marx and Wayne Hussey were great tunesmiths!

  • This song is so good.I can listen to this til i die!!!

  • The only thing I wish is that there was a version out there with Andrew's vocals over it, like with 'Garden of Delight'

  • I love u guys,you're the best band EVER!!

    :)

  • Sisters of Mercy takes me back to high school every time...

Calm down 80s goths, I only graduated last year. I made vintage goth music a vital part of my high school life.

  • The Sisters' version is more danceable, and flows like a river, the Mission's version is more of a rocking out song.

Both awesome, it's a shame there isn't a version with Von reigning supreme over the top.

Brilliant song from my two favourite bands :)

  • This song was written by Hussey and Adams. The only difference between this one and the version released by The Mission is that Hussey sings and there are real drums rather than Dr Avalanche

  • I enjoy the flow of this instrumental much more than the Mission's edit, it has more feel to it even tho I enjoy Wayne's voice. I guess it has to do with more emphasis on melody on this one, and a slower tempo

  • I completely agree. I have nothing against Wayne, and I love The Mission, but this version outdoes The Missions in every way =/

  • @DarkLord61636

Often times an artists first version is the best!

  • I interviewed Eldritch in '90 and he was very tight-lipped about the legal proceedings that followed the split. Thank goodness the fellows stayed together long enough to release "Body and Soul." Hussey did have a talent for writing good music, but as far as his lyrical abilities, well...he wrote good music.

  • @MsShigo He was tight lipped cause the case never went to court, He released his own album under the name The Sisterhood to stop Wayne and Craig from usinsg it, and also to get the £250,000 advance from WEA

Eldritch also "lost" the case brought agaisnt him by Patrica Morrison. The case was settled out of court and due to the terms Patricia Morrison can't discuss the settlement.

  • @Potskiuk Thanks for the insights. One man, so many lawsuits -- he did have a penchant for pissing off ex-bandmates, didn't he?

  • Sounds better without the lyrics XD

  • give me the mission any day

  • Both bands are great, and I'd happily buy versions of this by both of them! Eldritch and co were brilliant, Wayne and co were brilliant. It's a genre of music we may never see again, due to the atrocities of todays music scene, so let's just enjoy it!

  • Well said mate!

  • @Criddington agree

  • "Whiskey and the devil and the witching hour..."

  • well i like it a lot

    =)

  • Thank you for posting instrumental version.

  • Wow what a beatiful song

Isnt there a vocal version of it?

  • Has anyone ever heard the bootleg lp from the Sisters, entitled "Saints and Martyrs"?

  • that's very interesting! Where did you get it from ?

  • sounds like temple of love slowed down

  • ORIGINAL MUSIC BY THE SISTERS OF MERCY

  • Great Post! Never heard it before..interesting!

  • Yes this is the Mission!

  • The actual song is by The Mission, yes, but this instrumental version [as far as I know, anyways] is by The Sisters of Mercy. It was taken off of their TRUE final album together, entitled "Victims of Circumstance", which is the same album featuring both versions of Garden of Delight, as well as Dance on Glass and Red Skies Disappear.

  • you are such right, many mission fans forgget that wayne hussey was the guitar player of the sisters in 83~~85 and wrote a lot of songs/riffs to the band

  • is not the doctor avalanche electric battery

    is Mick Brown drummer

  • Dear DarkLord,

Please tell me all info of album you are talking about becouse i have Red Skies Disappear on some cd with mixed singles and there is a Garden of Delight on that "album" too. So, please tell me more!

    Your's truly,

    DeepDarkOne

  • Dark Lord, I never read about this before... Sisters were making another album together when Hussey and Adams left the band?? I thought this songs were like b-sides.

  • Comment removed

  • it's from the Sisters yet, wayne made it, and took to The Mission, but the recording under ANDREW's touches has more power than the weak Mission's verson.

  • HAVE YOU EVEN HEARD IT?

you must have something stuck in your ears!

  • fuck you

  • idiot guy, I know Andrew doesnt sing in it. But he's near saying to the band don't play it like gays (as the mission does).

  • is a Missions`s demo

    is not Sisters

  • Do you know Wayne Husey started The Mission after the fall apart of Sisters, right? Then, do you know there is a record called Victims of Circumstances (1982) by The Sisters of Mercy where this instrumental song was released? and some songs are sang by W.Husey and some by A.Eldritch?

  • Well My comment was a reply to ABTE67 but it didn't shown under his comment.

  • Not 1982 but 1985.

There's also a song sung by Gary Marx.

  • er - wasn't that The Mission? Sounds rather like it - with Dr Avalance grafted in too..
