Note, this is NOT so out of place as some may think, its actually the first games FInal Boss theme against Medeus. I must admit the Dark Dragon theme from FE 3/remake is the best against Medeus
@BballNintendo Frey sucks, dont worry. Medeus wont be hard as long as you have Bantu, cause you need to recruit Tiki, who is beast against Medeus, or have Marth on a pretty good level. Preferably both :D
@sackboy024 I dunno about you, but every time I kept Frey for a playthrough he came out as my best mounted unit and my preferred mimic target for Xane...with the Gradivus and a Dragonlance to boot he cleared half the final chapter by himself while the rest of my guys struggled through the other half...yeah...
@zeoxyman Nice. I hate the final chapter. Marth is such a douche, seperating into groups like that. All of you weaker people get owned by ballista. >.>
@sackboy024 Or have both Tiki and a strong marth that'll work wonders cause really everyone else should be making a path for those two so they can reach medeus on hindered
If you think this guy was a bitch in FEDS, then you have not faced his FE3 incarnation. The guy only has 15 in both def and res, but his weapon HALVED attack power before applying his defenses. This means that even if you had a dude with 20 Str and a regal weapon(40 Atk), you would deal only 5 DMG because you would have only 20 Atk against him.
I would say Medeus got dumbed down over the years, in FE1 he was immune to everything save the Falchion (And keep in mind Marth was a sucky unit), in FE3 Book 1 you could deal 5 damage max, and up to 10 max with the Falchion, and in 11 he is easy mode.
Oh, he also looks best in FE3, idk where they got the idea the FE11 version looked like an *Earth* dragon, but w/e
Also in FE1, he seals all ranged attacks and is immune to all magic. So if royal weapons can hurt him, only the Gradivus can (And Miracle Sword, but in that game it was Marth only if I recall, so the Falchion would be the only one worth using for Marth).
Actually in FE1 he was immune to everything but the Falchion, Dragon Stone, and any weapon with less than 15 attack power (An individual's strength maxes out at 20, and despite what the status screen says, Medeus has 35 defense, not 12). Then again, does anyone ever use anything but the Falchion?
@CamusTheDark They got the idea that he looked like an Earth dragon from the first game - he looks more like a rock-coloured dinosaur with wings there.
Medeus kinda hard. I made Wolf a berzerker though and he stood up to Medeus solo and PWNED THE CRAP OUTTA HIM! He had Hauteclare, and I had Nina with phychic nearby. He didnt need it tho.
I beat Medeus without the Falchion all the time. Despite the fact I have it, I generally see if my other units can defeat Medeus, sometimes with amazing sucess.
Seriously, my 23 Str. Navarre(SwordMaster) does 17 damage with the Miracle Sword(and doubles thanks to a speed of 30). Chiki can muster about 45(then again, Chiki is cheap vs. Mamkutes).
I killed him with Frey who did 18 damage with Gradivus x2, and then finished him off with Tiki who did a whopping 41 damage. Of course Tiki is broken as hell against Manaketes though. >.>
Gotoh can go fuck himself. Basically saying that you can't beat him without Falchion...
Wait a second, that's how Medeus looks like in this game? I was frankly expecting Gharnef's portrait 2 be Medeus' and vice versa. Much more menacing that way.
Medeus no question. I mean it does matter cuz he never appears as a dragon xcept 4 the final battle and even there he looks like a weak old bald priest!! Gharnef looks like a damn cool menacing demonic mage. I think that suits him better.
I know, wrong reading, I started comparing the mage 2 the dragon, then u said he was a dragon so it doesnt matter. Next point, u asked who would win in a fight, I answered Medeus. I know who the hell they both r. And I say Medeus cuz in FE3 he's resurrected and transforms into a huge ass dark dragon son of a bitch who's face occupies nearly the entire screen and has a dark demonic dragon portrait.
It was just a mistake on both parts. Whatever. Still, I think Dheginsea would be plenty powerful...especially because in Dawn he becomes blessed by Ashera, making him completely immune to all damage except other blessed weapons.
Even then, he's a bitch to kill. For argument sake, I'm comparing FE1 Medeus to FE9 Deghinsea (pre-blessing). Medeus was pretty weak (then again, he wasn't at full power) and Deghinsea could tear Ike to shreds...and this is IKE.
Uhm actually Deghinsea was blessed like at the same tiem Ragnell and Alondite were blessed.
And if we take aside those ridiculous stats of RD and just looks at whom the characters are, I'd say Medeus would win. Why is he an Earth dragon in Fe: Shadow dragon anyways?
I'm pretty sure he didn't have that Aura ability or whatever it was that prevented damage by anything not blessed by Yune. He was blessed, and that made him very powerful. It didn't make him nearly invincible until he was blessed again by Ashera.
Note, this is NOT so out of place as some may think, its actually the first games FInal Boss theme against Medeus. I must admit the Dark Dragon theme from FE 3/remake is the best against Medeus

i was actually suprised that normal weapons could hurt him. i thought only blessed weapons would damage him, or somenthing like that.
i never played those only in japan games, but it would be cool to try how hard this guy is in original or in fe 3
gronndar 2 years ago
In FE3 he had 15 defense and 15 magic defense, however the Earth and Dark Dragons had an ability that halves attack before defense is applied.
So someone with maxed strength (10 at the time) and a royal weapon (20 attack) (40 total) would be reduced to 20 -15 defense, 5 damage.
You can also harm him with weapons like silver weapons, but they only dealt about 1 damage.
I think royal weapons might hurt him in FE1, but I don't remember (He has a straight up 35 defense in FE1).
CamusTheDark 2 years ago
Err, meant 20* at the time not 10

Does it matter? Medeus is a freaking dragon.
But now, this raises the question of who would win in a fight.
Medeus vs. Deghinsea...who wins?

ganondorf59 2 years ago
Wrong fight. I wasn't comparing the mage to the dragon, I was comparing the dragon king to the shadow dragon.
Deghinsea from Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn is, what I would consider, the penultimate boss (Lehran doesn't count, he was way too easy).
Deghinsea, the legendary dragon who helped seal away Yune, or Medeus, the Shadow Dragon who threw a continent into war.
shunkwugga 2 years ago
And is way more powerful of course, Deghinsea is King of Dragons but not Dark Dragon Emperor who nearly destroyed the world thrice.
