  • I was looking through your playlists and saw this. I was thinking: "how can an entire playthrough be so short?" Then I watched the video. :S

That's one weird game. The ending especially was effed up, to say the least.

Your commentary sounded like you were spouting off a series of cheat codes! ;)

Oh well...time to watch the other route now.

  • @AtsumaKarin and to echo what Toshimi said: I was thinking the exact same thing. VERY ironic! :P

  • So awesome to see this game again after all these years. I spent countless days in the amusement arcade watching people play this game on the original arcade cabinet. Even now when I hear the "I'll save you Kimmy!" I get nostalgic chills.

You sir, have an incredible memory for the moves and I am now going to watch you do the Ace run. Many thanks for 10 minutes of sheer Heaven!

  • I like your reviews on this stuff. Unlike most gamers try to talk to have conversation and as a result sometimes speak over what t hey are saying, you explain how to play the game as well as staying on topic. Nice job man.

  • @TheCrackerSoup Thank you very much for your positive feedback, it's very much appreciated and I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

  • I play the game on the pc anyone have a walkthrough for the pc version?

  • Funny how Dexter sounds so much like Mandark.

  • @Toshimi1043 He does actually sound a lot like him come to think of it lol.

  • cool

  • lol you died less but got a lower score.

    Game 1

    HBG 0

  • @acj540 Yeah the game is really fair like that, could have used a lives left bonus!

  • Great vid i downloaded it on the dsi ware and just completed it my nintendo dsi xl :)

  • 3,270 views, no negatives.

You are a GOD, Mr. HalfBlindGamer.

  • @rabidrabbitshuggers Hah, yeah, never noticed it got so many views, that's kinda crazy!

  • WOOOOH CD-I! =D

  • The game is an 8 minute QTE. With all the timing and speed of action that implies.

  • How does a game like this calculate a score, may I ask?

  • @DarkJusticeMetal It just gives a set amount of points per correct button press.

  • I never even knew you could play as Dexter all the way through (almost). I always assumed you had to Energize whenever it told you to.

    And man, Kimberly is gorgeous.

  • @charlesajones77 I used to think that too at first, until I messed up a step once while the video kept going to a new part as Dexter, then I died of course lol. But it did show that there was another way to continue on and after some experimenting you'll soon learn that there are two ways. Really neat I think, something not many of these FMV games let you do.

  • Ha ha, a ray to make you young again. I'd still it and be well off. X} Muahahahaha...

Life forever baby, and you can always change your name. murhahahahahaha.

  • This was a video game in the 80s, it came out right after Dragon's Lair. The animations were by Don Bluth. I had this whole thing memorized way back then, I was in 7th grade and at the time it was the greatest thing ever. You had a certain window within to enter the next joystick direction or fire or energize and it would bump you to the next part on the laser disk. There were 3 levels you could play it on, the Ace level had a battle at the end on roller skates.

  • My god!!! THIS is a FREAKING VIDEO GAME!?!? IT'S SO FREAKIN AWESOME!!!

  • This game looks intense. Though I would probably get too frustrated that I'd quit but seeing someone doing it fast like you is exhilarating.

  • the voices in this game are very weird. they are so fast and sometimes in desperate situations they are calm like.

  • That was fun! Now I don't have to do it! lol.

  • LMAO

  • Yeah, it looks great, but playing it isn't as much fun. It's pretty frustrating to find out all the moves. I put a lot of trail and error into this game before I could make this video haha.

It's one amazing looking game (actually came out in the early 80s, can you believe that?) but for fun, there are way better games out there. Even on CD-i!

  • I seem to recall seeing this as a TV show when I was a kid.

LOL. I love your comments in-between levels and at the end. Looking forward to the Ace run!

  • Hah, I remember checking up on that show. It was pretty 'meh' and way over the top. The animation is also really crappy compared to the game. Same pretty mcuh goes for the short lived DL cartoon.

  • @HalfBlindGamer Well, I WOULD say that the animation with Don Bluth would've saved the series, but if the cartoon was done during his "Dark Years", then that really wouldn't have help the series.

Still, comparing the T.V. series to the game, THIS ONE does look nice. That and I've only recently discovered the fact that the T.V. series existed. This was probably done during his "Secret of Nimh" and "An American Tail" days.

  • Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it a lot.

  • damn it goes fast

  • Haha! I loved it when Dexter shrieked due to apparently being struck by an invisible projectile at 1:02 despite looking as though he were relaxing casually. Apart from the ridicolous concept of the game I'm thoroughly appauled at the graphical representation. The game gives no indication as to when your in control of the supposed defender of the Galaxy, it seems to be as though your watching a movie rather than playing! And I can't stress 'Regain your manhood' so you have to get your dick back?

  • Wow, you did pretty damn good there. Were you doing a few practice runs beforehand? :P

The biggest downsides to this game are:

    1) It's very short

    2) Dexter's voice. God damn, his voice is horrible...

Other than that, like DL it's a fun way to spend a short time. Unless of course it's the SNES version, in which case removing your own thumbs is more appealing.

  • I had a lot of practice to get some footage for the review I did before this. So it wasn't very hard anymore.

  • The blonde guy has an annoying voice. Good playthrough :P Very dry just hearing you telling us which way to go.

  • Yeah, there is not much room for comments, it goes a bit fast!

The only voice that was actually a paid acter was the announcer guy I think. The others are all from the development team to press costs. Don Bluth plays Borf by the way.

  • That was awesome! So close to a perfect run (no deaths) :D

Now let's see how much harder the next run really is!

  • Yeah, to bad about that one death, but I'm surprised as to how well I did either way lol. Usually I goof up some more. You'll probably see some more death in the Ace run lol.

The Ace route has more commands and often they need to be keyed in faster too. Ace also uses his gun a lot more then Dexter, you'll see ;)

  • Wow. Short.

  • Indeed, compared to Dragon's Lair it has way less levels to go through.

  • ooo nice 1, after ur review tried to look for a decent lets play of this game but cudnt find one, so glad u decided to play it

  • Thanks, glad you liked it. I also checked out if there were any and thought it would be fun to do. I couldn't find one that showed the Dexter route at all either.

  • So what happens if you miss the appropriate key?

  • You die in some way. Sometimes there are multiple ways to die, like getting shit if you do nothing or falling to your death if you go in the wrong direction. There are a lot of death scenes, but most are pretty boring.

  • Kimberly is Hot!...i'm pathetic.-_-
