My guild's active players claim to be about 50% female. The thing is that you can never be too certain who is and who isn't female, I've seen plenty of sad frustrated teenage guys pretending to be girls, sadly enough. But I honestly don't care as long as they fulfill their role in the guild/raid properly and keep the game as drama-free as possible.

Nobody sees the median, they only see the extreme ends of the spectrum - awful and amazing. The stereotypical ditzy girl gamer a negative stereotype that some female gamers might encounter, but in my experience they're often judged based on their ability, not their gender.

In my experience based on guild representation, and Blizzcon attendance I would estimate that between 20-25% of the WoW player base are female. A bit higher on RP Realms, a bit lower on PvP realms, but I think that is a pretty good estimate.

well, 1st of all we had a couple of girls in my guild and they didnt stand out as particulary good or bad. i dont think it has anything to do with the gender. gaming is to some point a skill, how well you play is somehow related to the time invested.

Well what i find funnny is even tho in world warcraft both genders are equal. In Lore they are not . The elven races are probably the most sexist, ngiht elf druids are all male , in the game can be both. Same with night elf hunters all female .
For blood elves , the priesthood are all male , and since paladins are ex priests that would mean all blood elf paladins are males too. Thats in the books and lore but in game not to upset anyone both can be them xD
I'll not say that I believe the majority of WoW players are female, but I will say that in my own experience the majority of players I've met in person are female (They often remark on my Horde earrings and shirts). It could be that the guys are not as vocal when it comes to expressing their gaming habits.
Over 60% of my guild are also female, and WAY better raiders than some of the men in the guild. It makes you think...Especially when people say that WoW is a game only for male virgins. :P
The friend I play WoW with the most is a girl. She plays a night elf hunter who was transfered from the horde (not sure what she was then), have been playing the game for decades, have a couple of 85s (her main is a draenei pally) and is pro a gold farming.

Nobody sees the median, they only see the extreme ends of the spectrum - awful and amazing. The stereotypical ditzy girl gamer a negative stereotype that some female gamers might encounter, but in my experience they're often judged based on their ability, not their gender.
I hope this growing population of femgamers keeps up. The world could use more women talking about the noob they ganked and the epic loot they picked up.
I think I just gave myself a geek-on from thinking about it.

In my experience based on guild representation, and Blizzcon attendance I would estimate that between 20-25% of the WoW player base are female. A bit higher on RP Realms, a bit lower on PvP realms, but I think that is a pretty good estimate.

well, 1st of all we had a couple of girls in my guild and they didnt stand out as particulary good or bad. i dont think it has anything to do with the gender. gaming is to some point a skill, how well you play is somehow related to the time invested.
i think why most boys go crazy in wow, when theres a girl arround is the fact there arent many in wow and they probably dont see many in RL either. its just a lack of social skills therefore, cause they havent "trained" that in any way ;)

Well what i find funnny is even tho in world warcraft both genders are equal. In Lore they are not . The elven races are probably the most sexist, ngiht elf druids are all male , in the game can be both. Same with night elf hunters all female .
For blood elves , the priesthood are all male , and since paladins are ex priests that would mean all blood elf paladins are males too. Thats in the books and lore but in game not to upset anyone both can be them xD

I'll not say that I believe the majority of WoW players are female, but I will say that in my own experience the majority of players I've met in person are female (They often remark on my Horde earrings and shirts). It could be that the guys are not as vocal when it comes to expressing their gaming habits.
Over 60% of my guild are also female, and WAY better raiders than some of the men in the guild. It makes you think...Especially when people say that WoW is a game only for male virgins. :P

The friend I play WoW with the most is a girl. She plays a night elf hunter who was transfered from the horde (not sure what she was then), have been playing the game for decades, have a couple of 85s (her main is a draenei pally) and is pro a gold farming.
My ass girls can't play WoW, it's just the unsecure little brats who talk shit again cuz they need to feel better than anyone that much
