It's a beautiful song, but the picture makes me laugh. Une onde is French for a physical wave (like a sound wave, une onde sonore) as opposed to un vague which is a water wave.

@aSteveinaBox Yes, but the title's not in French. It's in Italian. Einaudi is an Italian composer. "Le onde" is Italian for "the waves" (plural). And it means waves of water.

And this music is divine!!! I think languages carry so much with them as you learn them. It's like discovering a whole new world. that's before you hear the music :D!

@zairuku You have to know that every region of Italy has a different sublanguage, an Italian from Milan can't understand another from Naples or Palermo or Florence, so you have the same problem of mine (i'm Italian) anyway the most important thing is learn Italian through school and books and not to learn from dialect or you can visit just a part of Italy but everybody in the world knows that it's has to be visited wholly :)

@pianowoozle As has already been pointed out, it's minimalism. And music isn't always about the complexity, it's about the story the music tells. The thing with this is the fact there's a re-occuring theme which develops and the dynamics help to change this theme to the end. The adding of different layers also help to create the melody - so yes not hard to write, but to make it sound this beautiful requires skill and musical genius. Oh and there are no key changes - just melodic progressions.
