  • I think the small town out-of-the-way thriftstores are the most fun. You'll find the best vintage and unique merchandise here. I disagree with bedfordpreneur in that the average income in my area is around 35,000 and it is here where I found Moschino, Fendi,Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade, Nannette Lepore, Anna Sui, Gucci, Roberto Cavalli clothing, purses and shoes. I've shopped in a neighboring city's (100,000 a year) Goodwill and the merchandise sucked.

  • Thrift stores are only good if they are located in a high income area and good neighborhood. The Goodwill here in my town of 13,000 with average income of $31,000 per year the merchandise is disgusting. The merchandise however in a nearby city of 120,000 and income in the $60,000 range the merchandise is pretty decent. The stores are also cleaner.

  • Small town thrifts rock! & Goodwill does quite a bit for the employment of people who otherwise might not be employed.

  • I've been to a few. The thing is you have to scope out which thrift stores get good stuff. After a while you will see that some tend to have better things than others.

Here in Oregon, a lot of people shop at the goodwill.
