  • This I like. It shows its influences immediately. But its combinations and sheer diversity of sound & gesture and the way he mixes it all up so that it is integrated means a lot to someone who is trying to do some similar but more austere things.Here&there someBolcolm etudesbegins Ginastera- especially some Boulez aggression and leaps 3:28-4:39-then jazzythen late expressionism at 7:40 & before..More Bolcolm .Who is better known than Helps or Session or a million others so not surprising.

  • Wow, the beginning of the piece is just breathtaking! Why is Kampela almost unknown?

  • He's not unknown, he's just highly unknown to the contemporary classical scene because he doesn't normally write in this style. As I said, he often writes MUCH more accessible music, and usually works in electroacoustic mediums.

  • @John11inch  Actually, he's written a lot of AMAZING contemporary music. Please check it out, his string quartet is unbelievable.

  • I like this a lot, although it's not on his website (so far as I know).

    Wonder how long it took her to learn this?
