12 years later, in 1979, Spanish actress and singer ANA BELÉN recorded a DISCO VERSION with dramatically different lyrics in Spanish written by her husband VICTOR MANUEL. The track, renamed " Vuelo Blanco de Gaviota" (White Flight of Seagull) , opened the B-side of her CBS-label debut album "Ana" .
Actually somehow this song talks about the "Included" & "Excluded" from Society, from the group. I keep thinking on someone who is like the Christ....
To Exclude means generate an Emotional Crisis, to put a task upon the shoulders that can solve that out in benefit of the group. So the Exclusion becomes a "Social Method". ..to put the Christ One to Serve. To serve so the group avoids its present condition. ..but if the group doesnt solve it out by itself what the point ???
I was talking about Global Social Strategies such as putting the smarter one under the ruling of the less smarts (a sort of slavement) to benefit the mass. Or another is to saturate a whole market with low quality/prices products in order to benefit low profile (mass) producers.
Or to give (instead of let buy) high priced products to the mass so they stand higher vs the most deservative ones LOL
i think the chorus is great like this...i used to hear the song on the radio as a kid and probably wouldn't have remembered it without the effects in the chorus.
I heard this song when Iwas 10 long time ago ......in 68
the sound looked so magic that i ve always been haunted ever since
for me it is one of the best songs of the 20th. When I heard htat David was dead I really cold not believe the information; this song is my chidness and will be forever
Hi nice Video - There is a rare upload of David McWilliams - Is living realy worth the dying now on YouTube no pictures though but its probably the only copy on YouTube.
To find it search David Mcwilliams then search, if it is not there then change to recient uploads and search again
Single was 1967. I have it in my collection. Days of Pearly Spencer was a one-off. I have an LP - David McWilliams Vol 3 ! He did write some nice songs but they got the 'Laurie Paramor' type production with strings and orchestration which ruined the songs. '3 o'clock Flamingo Street ' sounds like a follow up to DOPS. Maybe I'll grab the vinyl and post some more on.
Agree with you on that...David didnt like these productions much but i doubt he had much say....a more rock or folk rock approach would have aimed him at a different market.....a la Donovan perhaps
Just came upon your comment on '3 O'Clock Flamingo Street' ..this song was released in late 1967 by the Bachelors..same time as DOPS was issued. I have the original 1967 album by David McWilliams, of the same title, which was produced by the late Mike Leander.. who later wrote and produced for none other than Gary Glitter in the 1970s.
OMG I F**KIN" LOVE THIS SONG!!! Why was this NOT a Top 10 hit??!! It's one of the BEST pop songs of the fabulous 60's. The melody, the beautiful vocals, & those haunting strings, I love it. P.S. David is one groovy guy! Those side-burns, & that terrific shirt, he is too cool!! R.I.P. David, Gary in PA USA.
yo quisiera que me bajaras la version de trademark por que no la he escuchado , tengo la de ana belen que es muy bella e inclusive igual a la de david mcwillian
