After studying astronomy, astrophysics and biology for a very long time in college I can tell you this much... That the chances of an advanced race of aliens even visiting us is 1000000000 : 1 You can work this out on your own. First estimate the amount of time it takes a civilization to advance, then factor in the amount of stars that are capable of life, the distance...

@tjxkid That's exactly what I am talking about, you can't make uneducated ASSUMPTIONS about something you don't know. If you study or keep up with astronomy you'll understand that the closest planet with even the remotest possibility for life would take them longer than a civilization could possibly develop from the time of the known universes formation.... hundreds of light years to even arrive to us and better possibilities elsewhere for colonization and exploration.

I exactly know what "planets that are capable of sustaining life" meant I just wanted to hear it from you. That's where Science shows its blind side. looking for water whenever they look for life. Again why can't life exist without water, O2, or anything which we need desperately to live? Simply saying there's no proof that life could survive without water is absurd. Isn't it as ASSUMPTION from sciences point of view that certain things are a must to have life forms..

@tjxkid You cannot say something can exist unless there is evidence for the possibility it can exist. There is evidence that life can exist in extreme conditions, using different sorts of elements to survive, but water is VITAL, life has been proven to need water, biochemists have proven it and if there were any other possibilities there are planets in our own solar system which should have it if what you say were remotely true. It is only assumption if there is belief without evidence.

@tjxkid Science never makes assumptions, in fact if there is something it doesn't know it simply says it doesn't know, if it is possible it will have evidence for it and say so. Do you have evidence that life doesn't need water to exist? Science is completely sure it does and that is why they look for water on different planets, if they find water then they find out if anytime during the existence of water on this particular area that cellular life might have happened.... understand?

Because Science hasn't found life without any need for water.. how many planets have the so called scientists have visited ? wandered atmospheres..only moon. and only a part of it.. How much has science explored earth for that matter? Science never makes assumptions ? Science assumes water is a must for survival just by looking at earth.

@tjxkid science doesn't do that. its looks for places where life would be similar becuase its what we know. we knows the signs and directions that point to it. scientists don't know how to look for life that isn't what we know. we need some leads because we can't fly to every planet, can't scan every bit of the sky, can't enter another dimension, the mars rovers couldn't even find life when tested on earth so they narrow it down because its more likely because of basic chemistry and bonds.

@fteoOpty64 ...even us, if we say got to our most advanced in space we could still not go fast enough to reach the closest star in less than 100 years.... the closest star does not have a living planet according to spectral analysis.... radio analysis indicates there is no intelligent communications anywhere close enough for us to hear it....
More to the point, any alien coming to Earth would have to do it en mass and would not use us as hybrids but as food.
