I dont know I've watched and so can you, he cymbal solo on WSS 82 montreal. This is exactly what he does. Also on Good News off of BR Jazz Legend he does this again. Buddy never "thought" about using fingers, he just used his hands as he needed, if his fingers were a part of the motion then his fingers were were a part of the motion.
So since you know the story so well why don't you put the correct stuff on an upload? Buddy also said he never used matched grip.
I'm not really buying into this at all. Buddy has said in an interview that I recently saw on you-tube that he doesn't do any of that finger shit that Joe Morello does. That what he himself does is all wrist. And thats exactly what I see; his wrist twitches almost imperceptably because of his superior conditioning and yeilds even strokes w/o the shuffling effect that everyone demonstrates when analysing him. And while on the subject why can't anyone play on the drum for crying out loud?
