Thank you Arlene. I am seriously being evaluated now for the implant. I cannot wait to get an approval for this surgery. As a late deafened adult i celebrate your encouragement on thsi matter.
The public and the medical community, as well as the insurers and the providers need to open and keep this dialogue. YES there is hope . Yes. You can hear again.
@newstartstoday My two books mentioned on the show contain a vast amount of information about hearing loss and cochlear implants. They are "Listening Closely: A Journey to Bilateral Hearing" and "Hear Again - Back to Life with a Cochlear Implant". Both are available at all booksellers and online at amazon.com and bn.com You can see many reviews - particularly by consumers - on the amazon.com site.
Thank you so much Arlene and Robert. I've watched 3 of the 6 videos and wish it wasn't so late or I'd continue watching the remaining three. The information you provide is so helpful to understand the many differences between deaf, hearing, and hard of hearing, as well as understanding how assistive devices actually work. You explained everything so well I hope other hearing people will take some time to watch these interviews. Great presentations and so very informative. Thank you so much.
@melowout - Your kind words are encouraging. I will surely invite Arlene to do more programs. My remarkable crew, average age, 84, & I are very gratified by the quality of her presentation & the response to the interviews. Much credit should go to the "ACCESS with Richard Rosenthal" crew average age, 84, & to Local Television East Hampton NY, which has never tried to influence our programming. Do you think commercial TV has such freedom? Or even PBS?
CCAC would like to thank the professional captioner, Nari, who donated her expertise for these videos. We also thank Arlene for allowing us to publish them on the CCAC channel called Caption Up! CCAC Advocates. .
Both Nari and Arlene are CCAC members who connected in the CCAC, all volunteers. Find our website, and join us.
