  • Is that the line that connects the old Southern Pacific line in Montello to the line that goes down to Ely? I've seen it from the freeway, but it was looking mighty dilapidated. Are the rails still there today?

  • @randommagnum Yea it's the line you're thinkin of. They are by no means in great enough shape to run a train down right now. There's areas north of Cherry Creek where the ties are almost completely rotted out with rails left to do their own thing. There's 3 hopper cars sitting in a railyard at Cherry Creek still full of ballast. And yes the line still remains in its entirety with the exception to intersections on 93A and the jct with the UP line. It's the only surviving abandoned line in NV.

  • you need to true your wheel, wobble wobble....

  • Looks like the design might be a Bentley, check out their site. Google railbike.

  • why not have 2 bikes each side instead of a tandem...go faster and carry much more weight in between!!

  • do you have plans for this design?

If so where did you get them?

  • muy interesante el video

  • did you get permission to ride these rails?

  • These rails are abandoned.

  • yes but they still there tho

  • Is it hard to balance the bike without the third wheel?

    I'm just wondering.

  • its like riding straight down a road line, what do you think?

He may have found something the rest of us don't know.

Think about when I'm on the bike, front wheel wobble side to side slightly. Not being able to do that on the rail, it may be hard to balance.

It's a pretty interesting way to travel for sure.

  • Very nice Bike! (*****)

  • haha nice work. Does it go through points? Seems to me the outer guide wheel would get stuck on the frog. Maybe if you used only the inner guide wheels, with a similar setup on the outrigger it could fit through the flangeways?

  • menido ciclorail mas curioso

  • I would love to see a slow all around view of the bike components. ie how did you attach everything.

  • nice! would like to try one someday =)

Be sure to play it safe!

  • how fast XD

  • I am also interested in your design. Is there a way to get a photo of your bike. I have build a tandem also but side by side.

    Hal

  • Great video and nice railbike design!

Where did you get the plans?
