Yes wearing the make up is all about the money,the same way it was all about the money when Ace & Pete sold it.Tommy's just doing a job. And Bruce's exact words were, he was glad he was never asked ,because he wouldn't want to do it,but given the chance he would not be sure of what he would say. There's not too many guitarists that would turn down the gig..

Oh I see my friends have angered some that don't know the facts.The makeup is owned by the KISS Corp(Gene/Paul).It is being used by the people that bought it,if you don't like it,that's fine , your choice,but stop crying about someone using something they purchased, What do U think about someone that sold it for profit?

A total disgrace that the concert footage has Thayer and Singer when they are discussing the creation of the makeup. Just as its a total disgrace that Gene and Paul had no respect at all for Ace and Peter and slotted in Singer and Thayer in their makeup. Hmmmm..........it was ok when The Fox and The Pharaoh was created BUT when the money rolled in again ('96 on) G & P saw fit to go for the kill and NOT create new characters as the US wanted and desired the "originals". Disgrace....

As for the Fox and the Pharaoh, the SAME THING happened when they were in the band - stock footage of Criss and Frehley would be shown, so who cares? These days, there are more NEW fans than OLD fans who never heard of Carr or Vincent, but they know who the "Cat" and "Spaceman" are.

@murrayc1968 that comment is bs. i wore the fox makeup this past halloween (was featured on kissonline too btw) and a lot of ppl recognized me as ERIC CARR not "that kiss guy" that comment may be tru 4 casual music fans, but not KISS FANS. KISS FANS know of its history and music history in general. you dont speak for everyone. especially me.

So don't forget the contracts were signed that allowed KISS to use the images and makeup .So bitch on but all this good guy bad guy is pure bullshit . Also Criss played and toured with Tommy in makeup and ACE played and toured with Eric Singer in makeup AFTER the farewell tour as well . So if in some fans minds a "crime" has been committed all parties are guilty .

@KISSARMYHQHD they didnt sell it. peter and ace made a mistake. they signed contracts that lawyers said it was okay and got screwed. tommy and eric shouldnt be in that makeup. yea its their fault for relying on other ppl to overview a contract. but im sure their concerns were about how much money theyd be gettin and didnt even think their character would be stolen from underneath them.

@shinnox no, I saw a interview with ACE where he said he received royalties when they use the makeup on a on going percentage and Criss took a one time lump payment .From ACE' mouth himself . It's a well known fact, people have seen the contract . Personally I don't really care, ACE can do what he chooses . Also ACE has toured with Singer in makeup and Criss has done the same with Thayer . After the farewell tour . Tommy is also all over Psycho Circus as a uncredited musician .

@KISSARMYHQHD correction, he dont get royalties for just the makeup character, he gets royalties when they use actual pictures of HIM in the makeup. which is why they are marketed as "spaceman" nowadays. since early 2010 kiss removed the previous packaging and branding designs that used ace and peters actual faces with the makeup.they were changed to resemble tommy and eric so they dont gotta pay out the cash.

I'm not talking sound recording royalties, which even Criss still enjoys . Ace is on a ongoing percentage while Pete sold the catman character outright . ACE made the better deal . Maybe that's why we see Pete bitch so much. It's marketed as spaceman because spacetommy sounds funny . Like I said he allows KISS to use it . Not a lawyers mistake

@shinnox KISS bought Criss out of his contract in the early 80s, so they owned the Catman make-up way back then. Ace sold his rights to the Spaceman make-up as part of the Reunion deal. Nobody "stole" anything!

@shinnox Paul & Gene are the life-blood KISS. That's not to say that Peter and Ace didn't play their part, because they were part of the initial magic. I personally can't imagine KISS without Paul & Gene, but, when KISS was broken, they fixed it and made it better and stronger. Either enjoy the ride, or get off and stop whining!

@EricCarr5091 i never said kiss cant exist without ace and peter. but dressing up other ppl and them and cashing in on their nostalgia filled past is WRONG and thats what theyre doing. ive loved kiss all my life and it really hurts me as a fan to see them doing this. its all about the $. i dont have a prob with singer. great drummer. revenge is my fav kiss album. but tommy doesnt deserve to be in. at least bruce respected the fans enough to say he wouldnt be in the makup kiss

@shinnox That's where we have the biggest differrence: you are hung up on the makeup issue and I am not. KISS is making new music now and Tommy is an integral part of band. He fits the classic KISS sound perfectly. I hear this $ argument a lot from the older fans and it is crap. There is lots ofs tuff on sale out there, but people don't have to buy it if they don't want. It's called freedom of choice... Bottom line: KISS still delivers the goods for me, so I am in!

@shinnox Permission? If you look closely, Ace's make-up on Kiss My Ass wasn't used; it was a different design because they couldn't get the rights cleared in time. But, KISS already owned the Catman make-up, so that was used. That's probably the reason Peter's makeup used on his '93 CD was so different. KISS owned the rights to the original make-up. "yea thought so".

@EricCarr5091 thats exactly my point. they didnt sell the rights in the 80s. gene stated that fact in an interview bc everyone was asking "why was aces makeup different on the kiss my ass cover?" and he answered:"not everyone always plays on the same team. ace was one of those individuals. lawyers and other knuckleheads complicate things. luckily peter came through" peter even said in an interview on eddie trunk he lost the makeup bc of contracts he signed during the reunion
