  • Gen 6 > Gen 5 > Gen 4 > Gen 7 > Gen 3......every other gen is irrelevant lol.

Gen 6 was simply amazing. ps2, gamecube, & dreamcast topped it off for me. All of them were GREAT console. Dreamcast being sega best console of all time imo. gamecube is nintendos 2nd best console of all time imo. and ps2 is sonys best console. i can probably live the rest of my life playing gen 6 games.

  • This is sort of a hard question, but my "Top Gaming Generation" would have to be the PS2/GC/Xbox era of gaming, simply because of the PS2.

Now I loved the PS1, but the PS2 was not only an amazing gaming machine, but it could also play CDs and DVDs. Not to mention that I could play all of the awesome games from my PS1! And it had a titanic variety of games, from hack 'n slash games like Sengoku Basara 2 to fighters like Tekken Tag Tournament. There was something for everyone to enjoy.

  • Really hard to say, Jason.

The 16-bit era resonated with me very well because of all the great gaming titles we had from SNES and the Genesis alike. I also like the early PC era when point&click Adventures and Flight sims were still king. And even though it had a few bumps, the PS2 era was enjoyable.

I have to say, I'm not too fond this console era tho, lack of substantial content and too much emphasis on online is killing my mood.

  • N64/PSX was the peak age of gaming.. the 90s ruled for gaming and wrestling.. now gaming's kind of played out imho

  • Nintendo: NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii --- Gameboy Color, Nintendo DSI XL

    Sega: Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast

    Sony: PS, PS2

    Microsoft: Xbox

All the consoles/hand helds i've ever owned. Nintendo will always be the nearest to my heart for all of the characters and great gameplay it provides. I still loved Sega, even after the Xbox and PS2 blew them outa the water. Playstation has the best RPGs to ever be made on it. As far as the Xbox, i don't really care much for it.

  • 4th generation ftw

  • sonic is the best

  • My favorite generation is N64/Playstation, after that the consoles all became the same.

  • The best generation is the 5th. Nintendo 64 and PSX RULZ!!!!!!

  • nothing compares to the snes/genesis era, generations past that WISH they had the level of gameplay those two systems produced rather than just having better graphics. On a side note Shinobi 3 is more fun to play than ninja gaiden on xbox imo.

  • There is a debatable amount of gaming generations generally everyone keeps saying there is about 7 gens but really I can count even more then that with the rare consoles that never really sold to much. There is just so many gens and so many of them argueing for the title for the first video game in existances most people will say pong. I have done a bit more research and came acrossed plenty of articles about sonar and radar games but also alot of other methods of gaming all debatable.

  • @Bob0p Thats some instresting points you made, i guess it really is debatable on the "exact" number of generations gaming as a whole, has been through.

But what gaming generation held the most "fun" & "Innovation" for you, in a personally way?

What games and system do you have the fondest memories of?

  • my faves have got to be the megadrive/genesis, snes and commodore amiga era. for me its the quality of the games produced on restrictive hardware, in them days it was about the gameplay and content and not the gfx but it did help. and the music on some games was just amazing. especially on the amiga and mega drive. for eg, streets of rage ost the first sonic quadrilogy and xennon2, harlequin, blood money, bills tomato game on the amiga to name a very few.

  • @oldskoolraveruk the reason this is my fave era is the makers put their heart and soul into the production of the game and ost in a time when gaming was still a nerdy undergroundish form of entertainment. theese old games will forever be timeless works of art in an ever evolving and growing franchise. and to think, it all started for me with nintendos game and watch lcd games! mymy how wev come, iv enjoyed my ride thus far. heres to the future!!

    dj rogue

  • So in my personal opinion due to the aforementioned and the associated influences made that era the greatest ;) Then there was the audio ability of the C64 via the legendary SID Chip! Then the Amiga's abilities that were so advanced for 1985 that it took many years before others caught up which in essence set the benchmark for which all others followed. The Mega Drive and SNES were awsome systems but the Amiga still kept up with them to some degree as the years rolled on :)

  • Well for me its the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Atari ST & Amiga era ;) Mainly due to the fact that many games on these systems allowed you to code your own game at home on Disk or Cassette Tape and have it published and sold if it was good enough. Many of the developers that are making great games today honed their skill on these early Computers and systems such as the Amiga for many years were used to develop games on the Mega Drive due to them both sharing a Motorola 68000 CPU ;)

  • PS, N64 era. Goldeneye, FFVII, Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, Conkers Bad Fur Day, Tenchu, Parasite Eve, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Majora's Mask, Ocarina of Time, need i go on?

  • @MoeTuesday13 i agree with this comment

  • This has been my favourite gen, mate.

  • @AstuteClass what gen did u start gaming?

  • @GpB217

    NES, MasterSystem gen, mate.

  • @AstuteClass yeah, i know. i was too young to appreciate my nes.

but i think everyone can agree that for the most part technology is getting better but not so much games...

  • @GpB217 - How old was you! when you played on the "Nes" ?

  • @JASONMOORE87 like 6-7 i think

  • sub

  • fav meal, who does not say pizza? same for games, the snes and PS1 era were definitively the best era of gaming EVER... ever since the grafix addiction came in... the fun depaarted, the replayability became a sacrificial lamb... in the past you had 30 people on a game and it was enough, 50-100 and you worked on games like CastleVania SOTN or Super Meteroid... now with 300-500 people they still manage to make the game only look good but i swear i rarely replayed any games of today... GOPS1!! lol

  • ps1 n64, sega saturn era was for me.

  • well I cant really say since I first got into gaming in 7th gen soo umm ill say this gen just because ive only been in two lol

  • @tyrikmoney Well this is a good generation. so its not all bad :P

  • this one.

  • @yourtwistedable - it is a good 1 :-)

  • 3rd Gen ftw :P x

  • damn, im off topic, huh? I think, the best generation was the PS original, there were so many incredible RPGs that were never as big as the FF series. I dunno, legend of legaia, legend of the dragoon, chrono cross, tactics ogre - they all bring back good memories. Oh yeah, MegaMan legends, i really like that game

  • God of War FTW!

  • @ManUtdFoEver - So the ps2 gen?

  • And how can I forget when the PC actually had it's own library of games instead of beefy multiplats? LMA Manager - 90's PC game of the decade!

  • @strykah92 - Its a shame, since Half Life & Crysis, there really hasnt been any major PC exclusives :S

Like you mentioned, they used to have alot, now its just console games, alittle bit more graphical (not even the case anymore they are mostly ported from console structured code :S)

PC used to be King, Consoles was just an alternative, now consoles are gaming to an extent.

  • Even though my favourite console of all time is either the SNES or PS2, I'm gonna have to say the 5th gen (PS1/Sega Saturn/N64)

This gen is just asking for another gaming crash atm.

  • @lZaZaBoYl - ps1 & ps2 had a large range of quality games, and of course at THAT period in time - that was the best graphics at the time along with xbox! this gen will become old at some point, so games innovation & quality are important when looking back.

  • teh newest genaration is betar because of graffix

  • @tulud what games do you like this gen for its graphics?

  • @JASONMOORE87

crysis, killzone , uncharted, mass effect, etc etc etc

  • @tulud - i love those 4 games, cant wait for crysis 2 & kz3 :D

  • The sega genesis, super Nin & the 64, ps1 generations were the best. Every game that came out was a good game. It was just countless hit after hit. I also have to say that this gen may be the worst. I say that for 1. because this gen & it's gamers are all about mindlessly running around in circles shooting as many people as possible [multiplayer] & 2. The IQ of gamers this gen seem to be comparable to the IQ of an apple but hey this is just my opinion.

  • @xkrazyxboix101 - i think you said what many dont want to say! games have changed have changed alot, online is basically the game in many peoples eyes these days (im talking about mw2 etc)

i hope people remember what games used to be and what many are still to this day TRYING to do!

  • The 5th 1

  • Man, doodoostank said it best. I love those ancient games, can't really say why. There is some strange appeal to the NES. it's a completely different world today, we expect things of games with the current technology. Poor graphics can ruin a great game, people will scoff. However, I'm playing final fantasy 5, SNES version, untranslated Japanese. Can't stop, addicted. On my computer by that obvious method. Two birds with one stone, and I think FF5 could easily be better than several 3d episodes

  • @CherishWiseShouting - So how are you enjoying FF5, does it put some modern games to shame?

  • last gen (ps2 + xbox were my fav consoles to date

  • people said it's PS1 and sega saturn Generation...

but for me it's the PS2 Generation ... too much memories of games that we will never forget such FFX and FFX2 and don't forget the Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2

    persona3 - digital devil saga 1 and 2 - devil survivor - Xenosaga 1 &2 &3

also don't forget about star ocean 3

there is too much great games to mention and they are the reason why the PS2 Generation was the best for me !!!

  • I would have to say the PS1, Sega Saturn and Nintendo 64 Generation as there was loads more variety in games in terms of there were still the classic 2D side scrolling games but at the same time games were breaking into new ground with 3D gaming which was a good balance. I find in this generation of gaming all I tend to see about 80% of the time is First person shooters, third party games which are to go on the band wagon to just make money and there is no sense in achievement in games in now.

  • all generations are great. but all have their problems.

    Atari- E.T.

    NES- Action 52

    Genesis and SNES- Shaq Fu

Ps1- South park (the n64 version was good.)

    n64- superman 64

    sega saturn- sonic r

after that generation. there are too many bad games. but their are also a lot of good ones.

  • @xFIRERUSHx what was bad about the ps1 version of "South Park" wee snowball throws ftw! lol. i loved that game so much, i really did, i cant rem if i owned that game for ps1, sega saturn or n64, (i own all that gen)

  • @JASONMOORE87 i think you had either the saturn or n64 versions. those were good. but the ps1 version was glitchy and broking.

  • 8 bit. WHY you ask? Soundtracks man! Difficult games. High replay value, not necessarily because you like the game but you probably had to play one stage 100 times to get through it. Then of course you would want to master it. Best game of all time you ask? Hmm damn that's tough. I don't think you even asked all these additional questions haha. But I would also like to say the next generation for whatever generation we are in, forever! Because who knows what will be next. 21 characters remaining

  • @doodoostank - When you discribe the difficulty level of the 8bit games, what do you believe made it hard, its trail & error type gameplay? i was only raised on 16bit gaming, however i believe the master system was 8bit and i loved Alex the kid, 2d was very innovative in its design and style, its almost a lost art.

So long as another next gen is coming we can have hope i believe.

  • @JASONMOORE87 Yeah I would say that the pattern recognition aspect is what made it difficult. A few are Super Mario Bros., Duck Hunt, Batman, TMNT, and Spy Hunter. I remember being a kid and thinking how the hell am I ever going to do this haha. I just remember when games were so simple in design yet so complex. It gave them so much more value I think. Oh and I hope I didn't come off wrong in the last message I was trying to be funny haha. I hope that didn't backfire :)

  • @doodoostank @doodoostank :P your message was fine, and raised many good points. with each generation, i wonder how far it can max out too. CGI type graphics, lifelike models & structures? in our heads with us wearing glasses? lol who knows, but the oldschool type games will always have a fondness.... at least from people of our generation.

  • N64,Ps1 and Sega Saturn era because donkey kong 64 was one of the best 3d platformer I've ever played,Xenogears on ps1 change the way I looked at games from a story prospective and Panzer Dragoon on saturn was just fun as hell if u had the 3d controller for it.

  • @MrPlaystationFan - So i take it, the 32 bit era is in your eyes holds something special, also i loved that gen as well, Xenogears is an amazing game, & very unique!

  • check out my montages, and subscribe please.

  • I like the current generation because games become more fun and detailed in my opinion.

The previous generation PS2 etc. was great too and that is from where my favourite games come from, the GTA series started in 3D and there were more of a story to them aswell.

My favourite games from that generation is

GTA series, Hitman, Max Payne, Mafia Bully, the Warriors and Freedom Fighters. but alot of these games will continue to this generation and thats why I prefer this generation.

  • @Ls1820 - So in your eyes what games that was on the last generation "ps2" resident evil / final fantasy / metal gear solid for examples, are now released this gen & are better now on the ps3 than they was on the last gen.

  • @JASONMOORE87 Actually I haven't played these games like the others I'm talking about. The games I mean are GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption they are both better than their previous titles. I played Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil and Final Fantasy a few times in my life and it was'nt really me, so I can't really answer for them.

I think games are only getting better by the years yes

  • @Ls1820 I like the current generation because of games Like Assassins Creed, GTAIV, Red Dead Redemption and Batman Arkham Asylum. The DLC formular is great to as long as its not map packs and special weapons. I play games for the story and sometimes for multiplayer too, but the story is my main priority and I don't like paying for something without that. I think Rockstar Games did a masterpiece with The Episodes of Liberty and that should be how a DLC should be, adding new layers to the story.

  • @Ls1820 "The Episodes of Liberty and that should be how a DLC should be"

exactly they was massive and almost like a "NEW" game! then you get others offering a gun & new costume! :S

just not the same is it!

  • @JASONMOORE87 No way that is the Modern Warfare way and I don't like that at all. It makes me kind of sad that R* is going in that way with Red Dead Redemption, with their new DLC its not about the story anymore. Its about modes and mappacks and money. I hope its only looks that way on the surface and they show the same love for the gamers as they did in the Last game "GTAIV" I always called R* the best in the business and I hope they will they that way.

  • Great vid Jay :) For me its always gonna be the 16bit era with the MD and SNES because thats when games became more popular and accepted in the mainstream plus games themselves really evolved in terms of graphics and sound and also gameplay.

  • @Snestastic - i knew snes would be in your choice for obvious reasons Snestastic lol. but thats true that was the first time games was really accepted in the mainstream, the mario films, and the sonic tv series etc, it was what i was raised on also!

  • I like the current gen and the only reason for this is online play. I only play games for online and the fact that games bring so much depth to online play is amazing :)

    FIFA - 10vs10 LOVE IT! :D

  • the ps2's games were great. I dont know about you or anybody else I would be spending weeks even months on a single game mgs3 and gta san andreas for example. I dont know what was about mgs3 i loved so much but I could not stop playing through that campain and I dont need to go into detail about gta san andreas. But now the longest i would spend on 1 game would be a week.

  • @lilshane199 - You sound like my brother lol, he loved re-playing GTA SA and Snake Eater for months / maybe longer, games had a hold the users back then, i dont feel that as much these days! it was a great time to be a gamer!

  • Ima say snes/megadrive for the simple fun gameplay

then the ps2, xbox and gamecube as i think thats when 3d graphics were getting mastered by the designers, take final fantasy x and wind waker for instance.

  • @Tonyippee - Exactly, like you mention, i think each generation has so far, contributed something to the table, the 5th generation for example gave us final fantasy 7, zelda, mario kart, goldeneye, mgs, chrono trigger, medievil. now i point out, these was the first time we had ever seen 3d games like this.. and you mention ps2 / gamecube era for mastering 3d, i believe that to be the case, it was a amazing to see some of the things that they achieved at the time.

  • @JASONMOORE87 yeah every generation has brung something to the table!

  • -]. I think 3 eras was the best, 8 bit, 16 bit and PS1 days .[-

  • @TEMPHUiBIS ok! in a more simplistic question for you, 2d or 3d gaming?

  • @JASONMOORE87 -]. 2d gaming .[-

  • xbox and ps2 because there were so many addicting games for me like conker live & reloaded plus battlefield 2: modern combat

  • @LeM8oR Battlefield 2 : Modern Combat was simply badass, i spent months and months playing it online.

  • @LeM8oR - They was amazing games, i really did love Conker: Live & Reloaded, the graphics and innovation, its almost a lost art.

  • @JASONMOORE87 i just used to love watch squirrels EXPLODE or just knockin heads off

  • I love the current generation of consoles. Never have so many gamers been able to play together from anywhere in the world...

We all love to moan about the PS3 / Xbox 360, but hell they're a lot of fun.

  • @TheBratterz - So online gaming has really made a big impression on you mate?

  • @JASONMOORE87 I think it has, I've made so many friends via online gaming and I think it's made video games a much more sociable hobby. Don't get me wrong I love jumping into a single player game but having the option to play and talk to my friends has really created a new experience.

  • for me is ps2

  • 5th gen. Ps1. N64, Dreamcast

  • I would say that N64 and super mario 64. I know that people around the world had countless hours playing that game, still to this day.

  • 2nd gen is my favorite.

  • @sinistermoon So what 8 Bit Machines & Games did you like?

  • i think the ps2 genration they had some classic games

  • @gteam123 - What PS2 Classic's, do you like?

  • SNES gen and the N64 gen because the games were amazing.

  • The PS2 generation was beyond amazing. Some of the best games I have ever played on the PS2.

  • @AcidSnake87 - Care to share any of these games you hold in high regard?

  • @JASONMOORE87 Final Fantasy XI, Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3, Grandia II, Dark Cloud I & 2, Manhunt, GTA III, Tekken Tag, and many more games. Way to many to list. Let's throw in Jax and Daxter (greatness) and Max Payne in there to. Can't forget Twisted Metal Black either.

  • @AcidSnake87 - That list brings back so many memories for me also, it made me smile to see you mention games like Jax and Daxter "Pre-Uncharted's" & MGS Snake Eater, my fav of the series. :)

  • @JASONMOORE87 Yeah, a lot of forgotten games are the reason these games exist today.

  • 5th gen because it started it all for me. . .

  • @cjasko94 "first to 3D" thats a good point, looking back thats a massive stepping stone in gaming history. plus split screen was all the rage, Goldeneye, Mario Kart, etc! Pc was amazing at that time also your right "Half Life anyone lol"

  • the current generation will always be the best generation

  • @ez3002008 - What makes you think that?

  • @JASONMOORE87 i don't mean this generation in particular will be the greatest ever, i mean whatever is the current generation at the time will always be the best... that's because developers are more and more knowledgable on how to make games, how to improve physics, graphics, add more content, make better multiplayer experiences.... and it'll only get better in the future.... although this generation sucks for NFL games... last gen was better on that... but 4 overal gaming tho, current gen ftw

  • @ez3002008 - Thats a intresting way to look at it, and most of your points are valid, each new generation we may witness, will indeed push the limit on graphics, and gameplay forward, the opposite theory i guess, is if...... You simply fall in love with a certain game or series and it only lasts 1 generation! then thats why someone will look fondly back on that period in time, and as it ages the style and approach will be a retro style in time.

  • @JASONMOORE87 yea thats tru. and also, to argue against my previous point, a thing that could hurt future gens, is the business part of da industry.... like I've said with nfl games, madden is the only one making NFL games due to them owning exclusive rights to da NFL, thus completely ruining this gen's nfl games, and who knows, other companies may take it a step further in the future. also chargin for dlc that should've been free sucks. but so far, da currents gens have been da best though

  • @ez3002008 Gaming, is almost losing its soul, (abit too deep lol) its almost just about how much money can they milk from us, and its only been this gen. dlc, online gaming, payed demos, second hand games cant play online games no longer "EA", servers closing after only months of being open.

i remember when games was about the single player or fun with split screens, and its goal was simple, sell well, and be innovative.

  • @JASONMOORE87 yea man... i mean i hope next gen is all about better games and content, not about how much more they can charge us... if it does go that far in the future, then i might have to give up gaming all together... i mean it's not like videogames are the only form of entertainment

  • @ez3002008 - exactly video games are only for entertainment, and the more money they make from it, the more dangerous it is for us gamers, will they just just make games with different endings you have to pay for etc, or if you want the full game you need to buy the add on packs! all those things im scared of, but as of now, i hope dlc and gaming online is as far as it goes!

  • @redy121291 - Exactly its like gaming was trying to find its feet, it really was "90%" a to b type gameplay, then we recieved the 32 bit era, and games started to evolve and Zelda, Mario, Nights Into Dreams, FF8, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Chrono Cross, Silent Hill, Resident evil, Half Life all amazing, with great storys! all in the 32 bit era!

  • Every generation gave us unique perspective to see how our games becoming a part of our lifes... and yes, even 8 bit generation like Commodore, Spectrum, NES or Atari had huge impact... but which one was the greatest ?

The greatest I think, it's still to come... PS1 and PC made incredible revolution in every aspect og gaming, so I'll go with that for now.

  • @VanPiorsing - Its hard to decide what is the benchmark, catalyst in gaming history, for example, some say the "Nes" 8 bit gaming, was innovative and saved gaming from going into the "wrong" direction. however i hear people state the Commodore gave freedom and was the highpoint in all gaming's timeline, others will argue, it wasnt until the battle between Sonic & Mario, or Arcade games, like Street Fighter was the true high point.

mine was FF7. it was when i matured as a gamer.

  • @JASONMOORE87

FF7 is an excellent choice to enter another level of understanding gaming. It was true art in many aspects and still to this day it's considered as a mile stone... It's actualy far more than just a game, isn't it ? :-)

My game was Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver... it had voice performance of actors from the english theater... also the riddle of dying from betreyal and living eternal life as a demon, actually made a big impact also on my spiritual side.

    Truly amazing times for games.

  • @cjasko94 - The 90s, was a high point for me also, so why do you like ps1 over the ps2 & ps3?

  • @MrMustBNice - Obviously in a opinionated video such as this, personal feelings play a huge part of are dicisions, i too was was raised on the 4th gen, it was while i was a kid, imagenation was high, and to me mainstream.

The 6th Gen, to me was when gaming went Global, regardless of what microsoft, nintendo, sega fans believe, the ps2 was the force and main reason gaming is iconic & popular as it is today. for many reasons, all which would take up more room than this comment box will allow.

  • SNES, enough said

  • Comment removed

  • I liked all the generations since the NES and Gameboy (those were my first consoles). The current gen of gaming is awesome since you are able to download games from previous gens. (I believe Dreamcast is coming back too) Though some people highly praise the games that have the best graphics... which I think is dumb. Not saying that the graphics of the PS3 and 360 is a bad thing, I just enjoy Mega Man 9-10, Chrono Trigger, Mario, past Final Fantasy games, etc... more than Halo, God of War etc...

  • @WarRock97 - I understand where you are coming from, if gameplay & story's are not first on the developers list, then it doesnt matter how pretty the games looks if it isnt fun, or rewarding.

Sadly many games this gen fall foul to this!

  • Hello gamer.

    PS1, N64 generation.

  • @redy121291 - That was the generation for me, that showed games could be as emotional as films (Until then i saw games, as trail & challange only) FF7, FF7 & MGS, are my examples.

  • snes, dreamcast, psx, ps2, and well ps3 my favs. dc for the first ture sidestep from arcade and or true arcade ports

  • @suicidekyd "snes, dreamcast, psx, ps2, and well ps3"

Thats very very varied, do you not hold 1 gen in high regard higher than the others?

  • @JASONMOORE87 psx then, made me happy to game ton of true classics unlike todays classics and hits

  • @suicidekyd - What classics of the older days do you think outshine todays classics?

  • @JASONMOORE87 umm for snes chrono trigger best rpg ever, im pissed number two wasant made after the easter egg in there game saying they should have it made. psx i guess i would pick ff7 as it brought me back to rpgs. ps2 had to many for me to choose one perhaps the grandia 2 port, xbox it will always be halo no ifs ands ofr buts.

i wont do all generations though

  • I think everyone will have a differant opinion here. For me, the Atari brings back serious childhood memories. The N64, the kids waiting for me to get home from work so we could play. Those are prob. my two favs. I really like some games this gen, but greed is getting out of control.

  • @ElwoodHi - I believe gaming has now evolved from being the niche experience to the BIG experience, gaming is now entertainment, and before it was exclusivly about skill, reward & persistence, this matured into great story telling, new ideas, and different styles of gaming, until finally what it is today, full blown movie like games, that try to compete with "movies" for the $ £.

I hold each gaming gen as a kepy piece to a larger puzzle, FF7 & 10 along with MGS 1, 2, 3 are my high points.

  • @JASONMOORE87 I agree with you there. Uncharted 1 & 2 is actually better than alot of movies ive seen.

  • Imo, definitely last gen. Mgs 3, hl2, halo, socom (when it was still GOOD), god of war, a whole bunch of jrpg's and the list never ends

  • @cobalt1201 - MGS Snake Eater, is my best Metal Gear Solid, and i hear Socom lost alot of what made it hardcore & its audience / fans are missing it.

last gen is a great gen for gaming.

  • @JASONMOORE87 i know man, same. mgs 3 imo is the best mgs so far.definitely a big surprise since mgs 2 was quite a drop. oh ya i forgot to add in RE4 in my list. the first time i played it, i just got BLOWN AWAY at the new gameplay and how smart the enemy AI was (lolz i died a lot cuz of that)

  • I had some good times on the ps2 last gen. The ps2 was a really good console and the first xbox wasn't too bad because it had halo 2 and unlike the 360 it wouldn't fail as easily as the 360 does.

  • @Ghost5FDP - I think the Xbox 360 will always been remember for its RROD honest & Gears of War lol.

Last Gen was great, i understand your reasons for that choice!

  • i would say the 4th generation (N64 era)

  • its a difficult decision between last generation with mgs2 and3, god of war, hitman series, socom series, and half-life 2.and the one before that with ps1, mgs1, ff7, dino crisis, crash bandicoot, and spyro.

  • i might say the last one with the ps2, xbox, and gamecube. my reason for that is that is was all about the fun of gaming, and making each game better and better. (and i know im going to sound like a hater here) but before the xbox came out, there wasnt as much commercialism in it, and it wasnt all about the neck-and-neck competition between the two

  • @coldfire0007 Some see the last generation as the death of Sega & the birth of Microsoft, it was was a great time to be a gamer, although ps2 was VERY dominant, it still felt competative to an extent, for the gamers, not talking about sales and companies, but as games go, halo, resident evils, mario, final fantasys, mgs etc!

  • @JASONMOORE87 thats true. but back then i didnt see much fanboys going at it. we just knew the ps2 was the best, and still played on every system

  • For me it would have to be the last generation for games like Resident Evil 4, MGS2, Final Fantasy X, Halo, San Andreas. The list could go on. It would have been a closer contest with the current generation except my 60gb PS3 got the YLOD last month. So annoying.

  • @slimmbob - The last generation was very rich in its re-vamped style of games, it is also still fresh in my mind, i remember hearing about how resident evil 4 was so new and refreshing, how GTA SA was so massive and you could ride bmx's lol gr8 memories

    Sorry about your ps3 mate..

  • @JASONMOORE87 I'll be r8. Got Persona 3 Portable at the beginning of the week anyway (it's fantastic btw) plus I've still got to do half the side missions in Peace Walker. Should keep me going till I get my PS3 repaired.

  • the generation when there were only rocks to play with LOL so fanboys couldnt say this rock is better than this this rock has more sharpness than this this rock is non hd this rock is looool

  • @Armenianps3 - Sadly i think fanboys will always be around, i would'nt be surprised if there was PACMAN fanboys & girls :L

  • @JASONMOORE87 lol

  • I somethings think you know the answers to the questions you ask. Games, of course, make a gaming generation.

  • @Predjz - I simply have my own opinions on the topic, games are the main reason a gaming generation may succeed or falter and rightly so, do you have a generation you admire?

  • the next 1 bc it introduces new technology

  • @Burgerboy58 - Nothing remains new forever! :P

  • I think the current generation is the best, ps3 vs 360 in particular.

  • The games, and I'd say the 5th Gen was the best with the PS1 and N64.

  • @MlbIndian - So do you have favourite games from the 5th Gen?

  • @JASONMOORE87

    Crash Bandicoot 1,2 and 3,

    Spyro the Dragon,

    Super Mario 64,

    GoldenEye64

    Mortal Kombat Trilogy...

    Fighting Force

I have more than that but that's all I can think of...
