lol, you suck at changing strings:) I have a Takamine myself. Think I will give DR Sunbeam a try, because the Elixir 011 set I use now sounds like an ass
@Demoras haha, I remember the first times trying to change strings:) Somehow, they always ended up buzzing or broken lol. I think it's a Takamine SCL-401
@TrappedInABikini Lol! It's not like this was my first time replacing strings 8) I've been playing guitar for about 12 years now after all (together with a variety of other instruments)! It's just the camera that's making me nervous, and the rather strange way of replacing strings :) I normally do it in playing position.
Ahh okay! I can't find much info about the model, but Takamine is usually good :) I have two Takamines ^^ I gotta replace the saddles with bone some day though.
@BlanFan2O Hmm, I can't really remember. I don't think they're that expensive, according to StringsAndBeyond . com the list price is 9.99.
These are pretty nice strings. I don't use them anymore though, but that's because I found it a little bit of a hassle to order strings from the USA all the time =D
That is not true. The guitar just shouldn't remain stringless for an Extended amount of time. I just put on the strings right away after I'm done with maintenance. The maintenance is simply not possible if the strings aren't removed.
The calibration doesn't go down that quickly.
It's not just me. Myriad of luthiers do this too. It is perfectly fine. Just don't let the guitar lie there for a day or so. People like to spread the myth that it's bad for the calibration right away.
Hey. How do you find the bendability of these strings? I need some new acoustic strings and I want some that are great sounding but can also bend great for solos and such.
Sunbeams have a round core. I feel that this makes them somewhat easier to bend, however, the factor that plays the biggest role with the bendability of the strings is the gauge of the strings.
I always play on .012s and sometimes also on .013s These are heavier strings and are also harder to bend. For easier bending I'd try out .011s or .10s. I prefer .011s because the .010s tend to sound weak and thin.
I don't do a lot of stringbending, but with correct technique, you can even bend .013s :)
DR Sunbeams and DR Zebras are my two favorite strings. Sunbeams are brighter and Zebras are warmer.

@Demoras Can't find much either lol:( It's still the best acoustic guitar I've tried and will probably be until I found a new Takamine:)

never use DRs, but i heard many people really like them. I'll buy a set of DR to put on my guitar when restringing next time!

I should add one more comment that actually not many people know DRs which are good acoustic guitar strings!!!
powermrkkk 2 years ago
Yeah, DR isn't very well known, I think. They make very nice strings. Definitely worth a try!
Nowadays I'm rocking Martin and cheap Webstrings though. I switch brands now and then, haha :)
