These guys should be in the rock and roll hall of fame! I heard Hall on Stern about 2 years ago and he was pissed(Hall)....They have written soooo many great songs over the last 30 plus years....They have so much more talent than most in the Rock hall today......
After watching many of Hall and Oats lives, I think they play better music in live concert than in the studio, which contrasts to bands today. Many bands today sounds alright in the studio version, but can't do as good in live.
@skyroe2 ...This was filmed at Liberty Park in Jersey City NJ.....I was there...Don't you see NYC across the Hudson River in the background? Above is a description of the video....read it...was not at all in NY...
They were in NY first and then took a helicopter over to Jersey City to perform for the Liberty Concert...this was in 85...the following year was the big celebration in NY for the Statue of Libertys Birthday/anniversary..This was aired on HBO...I was right under the stage.
Hall and Oates rock!! GE Smith and T-Bone Wolk and the rest of the band have all the energy in the world. A few people must agree with me, take a look at that crowd!!
Thank you dutchmazz for posting the entire concert!! I was there in the first row...out of this world..unforgettable experience for me...I am still trying to buy this...I posted the whole show in my favorites! Love it!!!!
Im gonna thanx dutchmazz to post this great video, great clip i dont know if you had the opportunity to be there, I do..you make the great day ...4th july...was very very hot..
girls, music, good company, priceless!....nicanmopohua18@yahoo.com.mx from mexicali, mexico!
Gotta love the 80's and the "Big" hair.. Go T-Bone.. Ain't they just cute. For real. I wonder to this day what Daryl's opinion is of his past productions/performances are. He was hot and successful and a money maker. No matter his opinion of the marketing it did him good.
I like how Daryl screws up and sings the third verse where the second should be and vice versa... you can see him acknowledge it quickly around 1:43... :)
When you see great 80s concerts like this, you forget how awesome the 80s really are for music! I love it! :) Especially the 'out of touch' intro to this concert ;) x
anybody know who did production for this show? can't see the main clusters in the video and the wedges look like maybe audio anylists...put can't tell! from the side the p.a. kinda looks like clair's s4, but can't tell!
I just think Daryl's snake print pants are so cool... and the Indian/Western influence of the vest and boots... he even dances like he is Navajo or something... it's time I went back to the Native American museum so I can identify his tribal connections... a real Midi medicine man in the middle way. I'm being too damn esoteric again for my own good.
When did long hair get renamed "the mullet?" Besides, this wasn't the stereotypical mullet we refer to today. Hall's hair looked great. You can't really judge it by looking at it halfway through a hot summer concert.
I'm just not a lover of long hair. But hey, I am a huge HO fan, and of this song in particular. He can wear it to the ground for all I care! The video for this single is in my top 10 of all time.
It may have been on PPV. My brother has the VHS tape of this. He also has some CDs that someone made for him. There are songs on the CDs that are not on the tape. If it was broadcasted on PPV, then maybe there is a full version if anyone taped it live. They do an awesome rendition of Hot Fun in the Summertime at the end. They need to release a full, unedited version of this on DVD.

Great song and he actually pulls off the "Road Warrior" mullet very well, which i doubt anyone else could do. Although still, i wouldn't try that at home, kids.
Ahh! one of my personal Faves from this. notice How GE is playing a red gibson SG and then after the intro quicly swiches to a blonde fender tele... i often wondered why he did that because it didn't look like he broke any strings. but he told me a while back that he did it "for fun!" he did that for another one too...so yeah he's a true guitar man and if u got em use em!

Makin the mullet almost socially acceptable. Cuz if you're hot enough to still look that good, you win.

Great to see Tom T-Bone Wolk on the bass. Sad to hear he passed Feb 28th.
He was always a treat to listen to and watch with the Saturday Night Live band along with the incredible GE Smith.
Take Care
