All I know is I'm 22 and addicted, these little stop motion cats capture so many of the mannerisms and so much of the body language characteristic of cats - the creator is quite the observer and his attention to detail shines in his work. I love it, each episode is a masterpiece :)

I remember the old series of this used to be on TCC at about 6 or 7 in the morning years ago. There was another cartoon that always aired after it and I think it was about cats too. All I remember is that the title sequence had a big clock in it. Does anyone else remember it?

five or six years ago, i tried to find anything about that stopmotion clay cats with the funny onomatopoetic sounds. then, i found some avi file in very bad quality. i uploaded it to youtube. after that there came many videos in better quality up here on youtube. i dont know if the new series has anything to do with this hype here, but im very very thankful for it. i love it.

@wallpills Hi! We have produced 3 series of MIO and MAO. The first one (26 episodes) was made in the 70es while the 2nd and 3rd one (52 epsidoes altogether) were produced between 2004-2007. The episode you are screening is taken from series 3. All the series have been shot in the very same place, Firenze-Italy, under the direction on Francesco Misseri, the author.

Please bring your awsome art called Mio Mao to DVD in the US. My little one and myself first saw them on Babyfirsttv, We can't get enough of them. Most of the Youtube episodes are pulled off line, no place left to watch them accept for a little segment on Babyfirsttv.

Reading about the work put into each 5 min episode is mindblowing. They are so cute and so well done. Great work, just wish we could get more of them !!!!!!

LOL! Well it seems here that the plasticine kingfisher is exhibiting characteristics of an actual kingfisher, go figure. Anyway, it's okay, I'm sure children are intelligent enough not to interpret his actions as stealing simply because he's plasticine and not real. In any case the fish are plasticine like the bird so I'm sure they don't feel too victimized.

Thats whay they sit and wait on the lilly pad and wait for the Kingfisher who is obviously a metaphor for transportation to the other side. If kids are that deep and understanding i'm living in a far to surreal world for my own liking.

ROFL, you're just too funny, lolol. Actually I think it would take alot more understanding for them to think to themselves "Hey, you know what? This bird is plasticine. He's not real. He shouldn't be eating those fish! He's stealing!" As opposed to them seeing a bird, real or not, eating fish, real or not and accepting that that's what (some) bird's do. Kids do understand alot more than you seem to think they do though so yup your world may be a little surreal there.

I mean the two cats obviously mean a "pair" a "king-fisher" well its someone who plays "poker". The fish giving up and being taken away (for all they got) "people dropping out the game". Its obviously just a sublimanal advert for a Online Poker Website . With children being the target audenice as well its disgracful.
