  • Dude, psychiatrists don't even give out the side effects when they write scripts. and then when you're in their office complaining of Akathisia, debilitating muscle pain liver and... joint problems, they ask "why do you think that is." to which we say, "uh...i did some research." to which they reply, "Oh! we need to get you off this! Here, we'll write you a script for this!" it's a joke. med free. and the pdocs think your "better" because of the pills. Fkn morons.

  • @AkathisiA101 listen guys if i was perscribed an antidepressant for OCD when i was 13, which really helped me get through highschool am i a victim of psychiatry? i mean a victim would be someone who has pushed drugs after a 10 min analysis to shut them up.

  • MOst psychiatrist I have met, are crazy, sick in the head and assholes. To all you people out there, you can beat this shit. you are stronger than them. THEY ARE LAZY ASS MUTHAFUCKERS that did not complete medical school . Most female psychiatrists are total bitches to and hate on pretty looking girls like myself.

  • This video in itself is a fraud, I would bet my house that none of these people in this video are truly what they are labeled to be. sebkarlsson, you are a highly misguided individual spreading nothing but lies through bs videos that have no more credibility than you yourself. Give up your pathetic war on a subject which you have obviously gained your information only through google and youtube.

  • @jhuffman2424 you're hate-filled trolling speaks for itself!

  • @jhuffman2424 you're the pathetic little idiot trying to get rich by spreading nothing but lies.

  • @jhuffman2424 Unbelievable comment! Your assumptions are ridiculous in the extreme and it's most offensive with regard to psychiatric victims' families and themselves. You sir are the ignorant troll!

  • @jhuffman2424 Crawl back into your slimy whole you hungry for money slithering filth! You wouldnt be opening your big mouth if your brain was damaged by prescription drugs. Its very easy for you to be "competent" when you are not a victem. You make me sick! People die on these drugs. People trapped in the mental health system have their lives ruined. Pathetic slimy piece of shit!! So many innocent people die because of money hungry perverse monsters like you.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the only real answer... fuck drugs. Psychiatry is not a scam but it needs serious reform

  • Psychiatry is a real practice, not pseudoscience. The problem is that it needs reform, we still have alot of crap to get rid of and or fix. Like influence from big pharma, identifying underlying problems and better defining what is or isn't normal.

Psychiatry is in the situation its in largely becuase the studies on the brain are still new. So you're bound to have problems. That doesn't discredit the whole industry though. We know there are problems, we just are trying to define them.

  • @spartacandream As much as I want to like your well written response to this clip, saying Psychiatry has problems, is like saying George W Bush was quite bad for the country. After years of seeing horror stories and only rarely hearing of people helped through non-destructive ways (mainly all surgery and drugs) I honestly just want to see it gone. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like the Psych's that council patients rather than prescribe drugs willy nilly are pretty rare these days?

  • @sebkarlsson Seeing that Psychiatry is still in its early stages, it's not suprising. The problem is that we're still trying to figure things out, so our errors are bound to be greater than our successes. Though we've gotten better, we still have a long way to go. Remember, we used to try to heal people with other health conditions with lead (or was it mercury), which is poison as well. It's not unique to psychiatry.

I agree though, we need to find nondestructive means of helping people.

  • @sebkarlsson How we treat people to try to help them, is our current biggest issue when it comes to psychiatry. I definitely agree. Though don't forget, its also largely due to our sketchy abilities to diagnose and understand illnesses.

  • @spartacandream There is no Test out there that are aimed towards Neurotransmitters like Serotonin ,dopamine,Dmt or specific neurons that psychs Tell you ,it is a pseudo science ,There are no Facts that prove that those specific neurons are imbalanced...None at all!.. its mind manipulation, these brain quack psychs create cocktails to counter adverse effects from neuroleptics/benzos/ssris which only lead to more Physical and mental Damage,Dont be Fooled ,and dont be a Human lab rat.

  • @getmajor Actually, they really do affect the chemicals in your brains, as do all drugs, and even foods. Even chocolate affects your brain chemicals.

No doubt just putting chemicals into your brain because it looks like its helping you is wrong, especially if you don't know exactly how it works and what its doing. And no doubt I don't like forcing people to take these drugs when they're "believed to" do stuff. Though that doesn't mean that psychiatry/psychology in of itself is pseudoscience.

  • @spartacandream i understand that the medication and many other chemicals /foods and holistic based remedies effect certain transmitters and neurons in the brain ,But most Mental health patients are not diagnosed with proper diagnostic test such as blood panels, vitamins deficiencies, etc Before hand And even they were there are no tests that can test levels of Dopamine and Serotonin for a specific mental health disease ,which makes Psychiatry a assumption based "Practice" ??

  • @getmajor Like I said, there is alot I don't like about how things are right now. I do think that we need to wait till we have the right knowledge before we start drugging people up.

  • @spartacandream -""-We know there are problems, we just are trying to define them"??.

So you are basically condoning that these doctors use Human beings as Lab experiments? If thats the case why dont you volunteer your self to a Ward or hospital and let them test the Neuroleptics on your brain..Lily manufactures a Typical Antisyctoic (zyprexa)aswell as a pill for diabities ,The leading adverse effect from there antisycotic is extreme weight gain diabities ..You do the math ..

  • @getmajor I'm not condoning anything anyone is doing. I'm just simply saying that psychiatry and psychology, heck, even brain science as a whole, is in a very primitive state. In all honesty, I think that people shouldn't be allowed to force others to take any of these drugs. We should isolate those who can't cope with society, but not force anything that can cause serious harm to them upon them.

  • @spartacandream position of power.. The transition from Lab rats to Human beings for Testing Nueroleptics is Evil ,and considering the ones being fed these dirty drugs are labeled as "mentally ill" just makes Society look past the Truth in the Pills and what its really doing to friends/loved ones/strangers and any other human being ,But then again they are "Mentally ill"?? so we my'd as well just keep feeding them synthetic pills and mind altering drugs?

  • @getmajor I've already stated that I'm against using drugs we don't know enough about. How many times do you need to restate an objection to a position I don't have?

  • If you argue with psychiatry itself then they have a mental disease listed for that too.

  • @ComradePatriot

Really! Wow.. what's that one called, do you know?

  • @sebkarlsson lacking of insight of your disease.

  • @ComradePatriot right ! theres even a bogus so called "oppositional defiant disorder "

  • Not that many years ago homosexuality was considered a mental illness. the status wasn't changed because the brain chemistry changed in those people, but the attitudes about that behavior changed. How many of those people were drugged, shocked or submitted to psycho-surgery to live a "healthy and productive" life?

psychiatry by its essnece, destroys the idea of choice. kids in high school are diagnose with bi-polar for shaving there heads or wearing goth clothes. Totaly ridiculous.

  • @MrBenquo Homosexuality was classified as a mental disorder, when we still knew too little about the brain to be able to know. It's no longer viewed as such, as homosexuality is caused by a normal brain, with an amygdala of the size of which is expected in the opposite gender.

Bipolar was for people with extreme moods, a family friend suffers from that, I can attest, she does have a serious problem. She's neither goth, nor was she.

  • @spartacandream When placebo is in effect and double blinded studies how can you not consider physicatry pseudo? Binding a neurotransmitter in all reality is just Numbing a natural chemical in the brain.people are walking in doctors offices with stress related issues and leaving with a cocktail of benzos and ssris Based on a verbal consultaion..The pharmaceutical companies/hospitals/insurance and doctors are Vanguard to every other money opportunity associated with the side effects

  • @getmajor The corruption with big pharma is obvious. We have a drug for everything these days. Got a headache? Take a tylenol. It's obvious that we have a drug problem.

Though that doesn't make psychiatry pseudoscience. Was Diabetes a pseudoillness when they treated it with bloodletting? Nah, but it definitely didn't help anyone to lose blood. It made them worse.

Like I said, we have a primitive science, with a drug problem.

  • Hearing voices is normal right? I think theyre pretty nice. ^^

  • The only thing that really downgrades the valid testimonies is the fact this was made in correlation with the corrupt cult, Scientology. I feel that that cult has given people who are critical of psychiatry a very bad name.

  • Well put!

  • oh. .so you are anti gay, anti-natural health and are a nagry person. ..could it be all the drugs you're on? This is NOT as GOD intented .. but as Big Pharma intented and now forced on kids too. By the way the schools receive $450+ per month per student that gets put on these drugs. . hmm

  • Comment removed

  • @EmilyGreene1984 Erm, "have sex with thier same sex"? It's a lifestyle choice, not an oddity, and it's not "corruption of the spirit"! Goodness... I would venture as to say that is a thinly vieled slightly closed-minded comment.

  • So all those ppl who rape, murder commit the most gruesome crimes and ppl who hurt themsleves r all bogus n just normal ppl???

    MHHHMMM YEAH RIGHT

  • They are evil people, they choose to do evil things with full knowledge and intent.

  • The medications just mask the symptoms temporarily, they do not fix the root of the problem. They actually cause damage in the long run.

  • You sound like a professional plant MSUKate, with your wording. But, apart from my opinion on your stance, most people I speak to tell me that Psychiatric drugs made them much worse, just like my clips show. The DO NOT get better!

DSMIV is a catalog of made up mental illnesses that have been voted on by a panel. Note new ones like Road Rage Disorder. You can't take it seriously.

  • No i am not a plant. I am a highly educated bipolar patient who used think like you do. That all the drugs and treatments and diagnoses are complete BS. But then I ended up giving them a try, and they ended up WORKING. I think the problem people have with the drugs making them worse, or not working is that the drugs themselves are woefully behind the times. If heart disease research and treatment were at the same level as psych, it would be the equivalent of being in the 70's.

  • @MSUKate

good luck running out of drugs to take after they lose their effectiveness lol

  • Exellent Video!!!! That is Thomas Szasz,

(an incredible and intelligent human being) who said "I prefer knocking over the whole thing." Szasz and Jeffrey Schaler are great human beings. If you haven't check out their videos on this myth called "mental illness" do so, you will really like what they have to say against their own profession.

  • @sebkarlsson They made my friend worse as well.

  • I understand their arguments about not having tests, but what about the symptoms? Did patients with bipolar or schizophrenia just decide to behave in odd ways for fun?

And if that's true, then why do the drugs work? For the most part if you give a schizophenic an anti-psychotic, or a bipolar patient lithium, why do they get better? Is this chance?

Are too many things covered in DSMIV? probably, but thats due to the fact that it needs to be documented for insurance to pay.

  • You have heard of the placebo effect, you keep telling yourself after a while that a drug will work - it usually does. Also, it never fixes the root of the problem, the problem is with the soul - not with the mind.

  • The placebo effect only lasts for 30 days. So when these schitos are better for long periods of time ( and there are a lot of them) its not the placebo effect.

  • Comment removed

  • Remarkable. I believe these guys.

  • not all shrinks(psychiatrists) are greedy uncaring people. some will work with you with your meds. I refuse to take ssri's for many logical reasons and my doc complies.

  • But he's still lying to you. It doesn't matter how nicely he treats you, but the truth is he still uses the same method as these people mention and he knows there is not one SHRED of hard evidence that proves you are "mentally ill". Perhaps you would advise him to listen to this testimony.

  • There should be a new law that when a medical psychiatric doctor prescribes their miracle healing drugs, then the doctor should be required to warn their patients that the patient will most likely become horribly addicted to these drugs and possibly have other complications such as changes of eyesight.

  • But that's the point this video is making - its all a sham - psychiatry and psychology.

  • I hate Psychiatrists..

    They are the "sick" ones..

    Sick in their heads..

  • @SeroxatShite Don't hate psychiatrists!!! Nor anyone for that matter. They're trying to help people in a field of study that needs reform, its not their fault its in such bad shape.

  • Be alittle forward thinking. I know that the technology to dissect and test our moods, thoughts and behaviors isn't here yet. The future will slowly provide the answers. I am a psych patient. I swallow daily several different meds, I attend bi-weekly sessions, guess what? I feel better. And better is better than worse. My brain is just as organic as my throat or lung or ass, and if it hurts, I will seek medical attention.

  • But your brain doesn't hurt does it? If you had chronic headaches doctors can do something about it and tell you why you have it. But, if you have chronic anxiety, there is nothing a doctor/psychiatrist can prove medically to be wrong with you. So there is no proof that this will help.

Just like dozens of recent news stories (I can find links if you need them) show, antidepressants are no better than placebos!!

  • Okay...

What, then, IS wrong with a person to cause them such unprovoked anxiety in the first place?

Assuming you're correct, what is the cause of a person's having a sudden bout of anxiety for no apparent reason?

Or schizophrenia? Or bi-polar? Or whatever?

    Enlighten us.

  • i disagree. i have been diagnosed by a pyschiatrist with OCD and bipolar and I take medicine and it makes me obsess about stuff less often. If you are right, then what is the solutions to these problems such as painful obsessions, frequent mood swings, etc. Is it organic foods?

  • You see that logo? It says Citizens Commission on Mental Health. This is a Scientology front organisation for their war against psychiatry. Some of what they say is true, and is acknowleged by psychiatrists themselves, but this basically ammounts to a hatchet-job. GET THE FACTS!

  • Just because it's a hatchet-job doesn't mean it's not true. It's no secret that CCHR is an offshoot of Scn.

  • Would you really expect a rational and fair examination from the CCHR? Yes, there are problems with the DSM-IV. I don't like the practice of diagnoses myself because it's labeling an individual and taking responsibility away from them. The DSM is a very valuable tool though. I use it as a reference if I notice something or have any questions about an already defined diagnosis.

  • Sorry, but I don't see how other peoples' dreamt-up disorders (eg. Road Rage Disorder - DSM IV) would help you in curing a patient.

  • Road Rage Disorder is not in the DSM IV. The DSM should be used to combat exactly what you are all crying foul about. You have questions about a misdiagnosis, the DSM is one of the best sources to go to. I am not into labeling people but I am into letting people gain access and knowledge to their disorder

  • Oh, sorry I might have the issue wrong. Let me make another example: Oppositional Defiance Disorder, DSM-IV-TR, page 100: "...persistent stubbornness, resistance to directions, and unwillingness to compromise, give in, or negotiate with adults or peers.". So this is now a disease...! How can you feel confident in referring to this as any sort of source for solutions??

  • Quite an attack on psychiatry. It is a good thing that none of it is interrupting the important research being conducted in psychology.

(By the way, one of the prior sentences is sarcastic. Take a guess at which one it is.)

  • Haha, I jsut finished the video. It's hilarious that they're calling it entirely unscientific. What a load of BS. For reference, a psychiatrist often is just an MD with a residency. These MDs clearly haven't studied psychology to an acceptable extent.

  • @JSResponds Right you are.

  • The DSM is currently under revision with review of research to support diagnostic criteria and prototypes.

  • this is a scient olgy_video right

    ?

  • What is unsophisticated is the barbaric methods psychiatry uses on their patients and have used throuhgout their entire history.

  • i agree with karlsson al what they say in the clip is true it is a hoax believe me i know

  • Yet you say nothing to discount it.. put some fact down buddy. oh yeah, you won't find any.

  • what an idiotic attempt to dismiss psychiatry. just about one of the most unsophisticated things I have ever seen.

  • how big is your check from daddy pharma? Poisoning a body does NOT heal the body. . it never did. A 5th grader even knows that .. not smarter than a 5th grader?
