the necrons have something far worse than the pylon thats too big for FW to make, its called the tombhold, a massive monolith that has 2 gauss oblitorators 4 long barreled heavy gauss destroyer cannons gauss flux arc and can fire its parctical whip 10 times, not to mention the 6 structure points

The Tau have plenty of superweapons, just take a look at the forgeworld site.

Necrons have 1, just 1 superheavy and that's also from FW.

The Tau have 4 including the massieve manta.

Erm, yes... kinda. It had a modified rule set based on a Tyranid Hierophant and the two existing Ctan, but with some funky extra rules concerning possessing vehicles and using scarab swarms. We werent sure it did it justice though, so we renamed it as a 'herald' of the Dragon

wow! shame not all the models are painted as it was hard to recognise some of them, however great battle. not too sure about the fluff as i wasn't sure who was on whose side -there appeared to be a high elf dragon wandering around too! has to be the biggest battle i've ever seen mind...

Agreed, but consider them a work in progress :) Always the problem with loads of models. The space marine player tells me that, that is his colour scheme though...

The high elf dragon was a Ctan Dragon herald conversion (hence the little scarabs running around its base). Glad you enjoyed though :)

Ive heard the plan is to have new forgeworld models for the Ctan themselves, and Apocalypse datasheets for them to do them justice in game. However its unlikely the dragon will come out as it would be too major an event for 40k background to cope with without drastic changes.

Originally it was made to be the dragon - but we couldnt come up with balanced rules that we felt did it justice - so we made it a 'Herald' of the Dragon instead - a 'Mini me' for the Ctan

I think I would rather go for the Orks or Tyranids. I just love how their close combat based. I know it would be expensive, but it seems that nothing is really cheap anymore.

True :) Both are solid armies, orks especially now as they have some incredible speed to them. Assault on Black reach (the box set) is shaping up as a great way to bulk out Ork armies cheaply - though you do end up with a lot of warbosses. Wish you best of luck!
