The journalist in question, IMO, was being extremely rude to all present. What I see here is that other reporters were in the middle of getting information, and this noob keeps interrupting, making a disgrace of the media in general.

One problem in America now is that folks who are just plain disrespectful cannot receive the proper calibration (@ss-beatings) they so richly deserve. There was a time when this could happen, but lawyers ruined it; the nation is in the crapper for it.

@rixmag problem is that politicians know who to talk to and who not to talk to. if he were to get any questions answered wouldn't he have to be rude since otherwise he would never have a turn to ask? if you want a one sided opinion of your politicians keep watching abc, cbs, nbc. if you want the full picture some tough questions do have to be asked.

@rixmag Watch the whole video. the "reporter in question" got to rahm first, and was repeatedly ignored. He was being shut out by the other, more favored reporters (especially levine), and simply trying to get an answer to his original question. In essence, he was the one being interupted.

I actually questioned the integrity of this video piece - thought maybe Kelly was being rude. But if you look at the unedited video, you can see that Kelly is talking to Rahm first. Rahm is trying to avoid, he looks for "safety" over with the "real" journalists and then THEY shove Kelly and threaten him. Kelly was not being rude. Levine and Thomas were being rude. Even if Kelly is not a "real" journalist, are only journalists allowed to question a guy running for citywide office?

@DSBac I agree it would be good if folks are encouraged not to be complete jerks to others. But I've been following corruption in journalism for a long time, and its far more corrupt in the last two decades or so, I expect.

And I don't think you can impose surface manners very robustly when the fundamental intention is corrupt, the behavior in carrying out the intention is going to be corrupt, too. If you're interested, A.J. Liebling's classic "The Press" is good. Also,

@DSBac the stories of recent reporters are notable..Gary Webb (who reported CIA involvement in drug-running; you can also see this on youtube videos of former agent John Stockwell), and April Oliver (use of chemical weapons in Vietnam conflict) were savaged by other reporters, dishonestly, it seems.  Amy Goodman, reported being sneered at by other reporters for asking questions regarding East Timor, rather than just taking the official government press release and publishing it!

Denoting someone by their function is a way of depersonalizing that individual.

Even if Kelly were not a "real reporter" why would that excuse the threat?

It's really all about what has replaced the "good ol' boy" network and its ideological in nature.
