@Zyandian Yeah there plenty of good songs to sample. 99% of the time i use soul samples.

Just download a discografie of some old soul artists you found on google. Listen to loops/sounds you can use. And start choppin :) Good luck!

Try to put the samples in the sequincer...

why put them in the step sequencer when you have more contol with the piano roll. if you chop with slicex or put them on fpc or battery they are sent automatically to the piano roll. the only time I use the step sequencer is for hats so I can put some swing in them.

it can be easy or a pain, it all depends on the sample source. if your sampling something with no drums its usually pretty easy but if your trying to fuck with a sample that dilla used be ready to eq the crap out of it to tone down the drums and lose a lot of sound quality. some songs are just perfect for sampling and others not so much. songs withg great intros are always nice. if your eq'ing shit with drums you gotta get used to detecting frequencies to know what can be boosted or minimized

Getting the sample into the bottom of the playlist window is just a drag and drop operation.

And the two windows are there by default.

I use Edison to sample... It's easier b/c u can zoom into the part of the song u want to sample and loop...

i dont know of a sampler where you cant zoom in on where you wanna cut but edison is more convenient since its in the same window and not on some other application. audition is better for some things but its such a pain getting your chops into fl as opposed to the drag and drop of edison right into slice ex

Ahh I got it now. What I do is copy the original song into the 'ImageLine- Fl studio - Data' folder and then it'll be available in the browser on the left. You can just drag it into the section down the bottom where you can edit it from there.

yes i also found how to do this. But instead of the file itself i was able to do the whole folder =)

now what i have trouble with is getting the sample to get on beat(tempo wise, it's the onl part i got lost on in the video).Can anyone help with this?

you just got to play around with the pitch of the song until it matches up teh tempo that you want. or you could just put it through the fruity slicer and move parts around a little to keep it all on beat
