  • Im Sammie's cousin...in-law, but he's blood cousin's with my cousin

  • Crazy! They didn't draft Rey or James, but they did get a solid mlb in Deandre

  • i was just like you when i heard this, but im sold over on the 2009 draft

  • As am I. Levy looks like a steal and sammie hill looks to have great upside for a later round pick. Pettigrew jury is still out.. but I like for the most part what Stafford has shown so far. Its all on him this season.

  • ColdArmy are you gonna make a 2010 predraft predictions?

  • i certainly should shouldnt i? Stay tuned

  • Hidsight is a great Science.

Stafford is a beast and will become a great QB if he is given the protection,

Pettygrew was a solid pick and his numbers will get better when he nails down the playbook,

L Delmas is a Beast that will take our Defence to another level.

D Levy was a steal who only got better as the season went on,

D williams needs to up it this season.

S Hill, is a solid starter.

    Z Follett is a stud

  • We really miss Pettigrew in Stillwater. He was an outstanding player. A real class act as well. He can block and catch with the best of them. Enjoy him in Detroit. GO POKES BABY!!!!!

  • deandre levy has more tackles than aaron curry this year.

  • I saw that! He has had a very good rookie year as far as being a dependable tackler.

  • Ive seen very little of him since half their games are blacked out, but Ive liked what ive seen.

  • So far our draft picks have been pretty good. Delmas had a good game. Pettigrew improved our O-line bigtime! Stafford will take time, He's always showing awesome poise. Give the Lions time they will be so good in a few years. GO LIONS!!!

  • Delmas has been money for us, Pettigrew is hurt but I like his potential.

  • Delmas is a beast!! I saw him play at Western Michigan a lot since I go there. He will not disappoint

  • Levy is an absolute stud, Pettigrew played very well today.

  • dude you guys should of taking michael oher withe the 20th pick.

  • Sammie Hill is a beast that dude is huge.

  • Sammie Hill is from my town. He is a beast.

  • It's okay*

  • I wanted us to take Rey Maualuga too, but it's now since we have Larry Foote

  • I disagree with your first pick saying you would take Curry. Stafford has a cannon for an arm and can make all the throws and has decent speed. I wanted Oher for the 2nd pick. Oher didn't allow a sack his senior year at Ole Miss. Yet I do kind of like Pettigrew because he gives Scott Linehan alot more options on offense.

I agree with Delmas because he plays with great speed and is physical. We need playmakers on defense and he fits that mold. Overall I would give the Lions a B+ for the draft.

  • ColdArmy..

Trust me Levy is the real deal. I've watched every game of Levy at Wisconsin and played against him in high school...He is football smart and football tough. In OTA's they talked about how they can plug him in the middle because he is a smart ball hawk....I know you know nothing about this kid, but hes an amazing athlete, and a fast learner...Its going to be Peterson, Foote, Sims, with Levy being the next guy off the bench....This was a great pickup, trust me

  • I hope you are right! Thanks for the info man.

  • thanks 4 not hatin on sammie i go to the same high school he did and he was really good in high school

  • I believe the lions aren't filling in need at this moment, but getting the best available on the board. I believe in the Lions and I Believe in Kevin Smith saying the Lions are gonna make it to the post season this year. I hope they do great this year.

  • I hope they start that Follet guy. Holy shit that guy is insane!! I wish the Lions would go 3-4 instead of 4-3

  • why does everyone hate on brandon pettigrew? Did anyone see him play against Brian Orakpo?? He pancaked orakpo a few times and orakpo is a beast! Pettigrew was a solid pickup at number 20. Maybe he isnt a need now, but when the hell have the lions had a good TE? Marcus pollard for half a season is the last good dual threat tight end i can think of. btw good choice not taking mauluga, Larry Foote is sick

  • Looks like it's finally done, Welcome to the Lions, Larry Foote!! I now change my draft grade to an A

  • over all i would give them a B- at first i was thinking F but when i looked at it i started to like the picks a little more i still would have rather had Malaluaga or Laurnitis instead of Pettigrew still its better than some of the drafts in the past

  • I'm surprised no one is talking about zach "the pain Train" Follett. He's a beast

  • See my last vid lol

  • Lionsfanatic why are you flaming little old me for having an opinion.

  • broski i said same thing C+... thats it ... mabey even a C- for that last wasted pick on a second TE

  • I don't mean to sound like a prick. I want the Lions improve. But I just think they should have gone defense this year, not stacking up on offensive players.

  • brotherfease you are a retard

  • So furthermore, what's wrong with making Culpepper the starter for the next three or four years? He's only 32 years, has one of the best QB ratings of all-time, and been to the pro-bowl three times. He brings experience to the table. In the later rounds, I would have found a QB to work on for a few years, and then down the road make him the starter.

  • They obviously don't trust Culpepper's skills or durability. I do think Raji will be a great player but not worth 30 million dollars. But they need pretty much every position. They already signed two solid young offensive linemen in Free Agency. And I do think Pettigrew will make the O-line better blocking against DEs.

  • ColdArmy, I am not a Lions fan, but I was disappointed by their picks. I would have gone Orakpo/Maybin #1, Peria Jerry #20, and Everett Brown #33. The Lions didn't need a QB or a TE, or even a Safety, but they did need talent inside in order to put pressure on opponents' quarterbacks.

The biggest problem with the Lions was on defense and on protection the running back/quarterback.

  • Brotherfease, I quite reading when you said Orakpo/Maybin #1. Did anyone see the highlights when Pettigrew dominated Orakpo for the entire game. He's probably a better blocker than Jeff Backus. And why draft Everette Brown when Cliff Avril played his ass off last season with very little help.

  • dash132, the Lions should have focused on their defense in the first round and 33rd pick and possibly thrown in an offensive linemen. If you look at what happened last year, you will see that their defense was worse than the bad news bears. Why neglect your weakness area? B.J Raji would have been a great 1st round pick too.

I have nothing against Stafford or Pettigrew, but I saw better directions for the Lions.

  • There is no way they were gonna fix all there issues with just one draft but they did a good job drafting talent and establishing a base of young talent they and they did'nt do alot of reaching. Raji/Orakpo/Maybin would've been huge reaches at #1. and the Lions also have a good shot at Larry Foote also(God please let this happen). But who is your team? just curious.

  • I am not saying all their problems will be fixed in one season, but my point here is that you should start in the defense. Defenses win championships, and increase productivity for your offense. Last year, the Lions ranked last in that category. Common sense tells me to start there.

If they picked Raji, Maybin, or Oprako, they would have paid them big bucks, but it would have come with a smaller price tag.

  • your stupid as fuck if you dont like your first 3 picks

  • dude why the fuck did you make this... you just embaressed yourself 1 by picking your nose and 2 you dont know what the fuck your talking about

  • By the way, I think the Lions did a good job at the end of the draft in the 7th round.

  • I tell you what, you add some hair to the top of that head and I can see you competing with the draft guru Mel Kiper on tv!

  • ha! Hope thats a good thing.

  • I agree with what you said about Pettigrew. The more I think about the draft, the more I like our picks. Especially since we have a good chance of bagging Larry Foote

  • I heard that, that would be a very solid pick up. Hometown guy that actually said he WANTS to come here.

  • i know sammie hill we're both from bibb county he went to west blocton high and i went to bibb county high bout 10 minutes away but he's older than me im 20 but our schools never played each other i used to go to a lil club in west blocton and i used to see him all the time he went to stillman college in tuscaloosa man hes a big dude he used to always have his shirt off in......... in high school he was breaking backboards like shaq in basketball they always thought basketball would be his sport

  • Comment removed

  • Andre ware sat before he started then played with no O-line and Failed. Letting him sit will make no difference if there is still no one the block for him. Joey did'nt fail because he was "thrown to the wolves"

He failed for 2 reason 1. He never had time to learn to read defenses or get timing down because he was always either on his back or running form the defense. 2. He was wayyyyy over rated ,he had one good season and was "over hyped" by Oregon.

Sort of the same way Stafford is.

  • Remember when the Lions drafted 4 strait 1st round WR's? This is the Lions socalled "logic" .If you keep drafting wideouts ,then they will make Joey Harrington better.Instead of using those picks to build a 1st class O-line. Now they draft Stafford and do the same thing again second 1st round TE ,3rd WR. No O-line in the first 5 picks. If he starts with this o-line he will be just like Joey/Andre/Chuck/Rodney. Name one QB that played great on a team with a below average O-line?

  • I was disappointed with the picks. I would have thought Detroit would have been thrilled to have Oher still on the board at 20 and Rey still available at 33. They could have filled their two biggest needs with those two guys.

  • I see what you mean but on a team like this, we need pretty much every position. So that's why they took the best player available. And in all of Rey's highlights, he's getting to the ball carrier untouched. He won't be as good with NFL blockers assigned to him. There is a reason he was on the board for so long(I really thought N.E. would take him at #34, but they wanted Delmas :-)

  • Also i like Levy, he is big and quick. He should be our MLB but i still think we could have got Rey instead of Delmas. but let's wait and see if this pan out

  • I dont know. We have a lot of potential with these picks if they pan out. But i do not like them. I dont know too much about Delmas, but I think Stafford was a mistake N i think we needed more important needs then a T.E. Pettigrew may turn into some special but we needed LB,OT a lot of other pos. Also we gave Stafford way too much money and i dont think he's as good as anyone. Everyone wanted Sanchez and if we didnt draft Stafford he would have dropped and Sanchez would have been the first q.b

  • Sammie Lee Hill is a project and may not see playing time this year, but rest assured that he will be coached by the same guy that made Albert Haynesworth the league's best defender. Schwartz will give him every opportunity to succeed in Detroit.

I realise that a lot of these comparisons to NFL stars are just projections, but with a sound coaching staff, led by one of the league's premier defensive geniuses, and a GM that finally seems to get it, I have hope that Detroit will turn it around.

  • Levy plays much bigger than his listed 236 lbs, and has been known to knock bigger running backs backward on tackles. Very hard hitting LB, who Schwartz has already delegated for MLB duties. Don't be surprised if he's the opening day starter.

Derrick Williams. In my opinion, every bit as explosive as Percy Harvin, without the marijuana. He may not be a polished wideout, but I foresee him being used strictly as a KR/PR specialist right away. Hester anyone?

  • I think Derrick Williams was the steal of the draft for wideouts!! he was so badass for Penn State, Im suprised nobody grabbed him in the 2nd round, We did an awesome job with the draft,. Regardless we need a QB, Stafford coudnt be turned down. Give them time!!

  • while I would have taken Curry, Stafford isn't so bad a pick. If they handle him correctly, which I believe Schwartz and co. will do, I hear a lot of "experts" compare him to Jay Cutler.

Pettigrew is compared to Jason Witten by nearly everyone that scouted him, and will not only be a viable passing option, but a sneakily dominant run blocker as well.

Delmas is a 'balls to the wall' defender who will give 110% and provide an instant threat in the secondary. Many compare him to Troy Polamalu.

  • Stafford is incomplete until year 3or4. I agrree with you about Pettigrew, my pick was Oher. Delmas is good, but we have to see (my pick was Lauranitis or Maualuga). DeAndre Levy is a complete reach (hope i eat those words) especially when changing his position. PSU WR is good. Sammie Lee Hill is a steal. Hope he starts The rest of the picks are still questionable. I would love to see Murtha develop into a solid LT (wishful thinking of course). Brown is a sleeper kr/change of pace back grade B

  • We gave Stafford way too much. Didn't want him at all. Was hoping for one of the tackles and P. Jerry. // Pettigrew is nice but we could've taken Perry or Oher there. // I like the Delmas pick a lot. // The Wisconsin linebacker? We should have taken Duke Robinson or MLB. // D. Williams is OK but we picked up Will Franklin already. // I'm intrigued by Hill.. I like Brown's speed.. hoping Murtha is gives us something..

  • Yeah 12th pick 3rd round is definitely gonna be a bust..I stay in the D and I cant wait to see how this pans out...I give the draft a B- just because I think Stafford,Pettigrew and Calvin Johnson is gonna be one helleva combo..especially in the red zone where the Lions offense just disappears into mid air..but they gotta protect Matt "The Triggerman' Stafford...haha I just gave him that name off my head....GO LIONS!

  • i give a B+ on the draft. I would have liked to have an OL at that 4th player pick as well, but its a new scheme and im gonna give the new staff a fair chance.

  • I agree, I would have taken Curry. I will remain skeptical of Stafford until he proves himself. Brandon Pettigrew was a great pick. He'll help out that line tremendously and not too mention his hands. I wanted Maualuga too, but oh well. Delmas looks like he has the potential to be the next Bob Sanders. This was much better than last years draft. Hopefully Levy will work out as MLB. Oh, by the way hopefully Daniel Loper will start at guard. Seems like he has a lot of upside. Nice video.

  • I am not sure what makes Matt Stafford worth that amount of money? I mean come on the highest rookie contract ever? Matt made a good move by coming out early because I know he made millions more with this decision because he would not have been the number one prospect next year.

  • Rookie contracts need to be adjusted. Its Ridiculous.

  • remember that 1 year when bill parcelles drafted all defense and everyone in dallas didnt like it. Well thats what i would have done in this draft and tried to plug our o-line through free agency and made culpepper compete for #1 spot against mike vick.

  • The more I think about the Lions draft, the more I am okay with it. I wanted them to draft mostly defense but they added two immediate starters with Pettigrew and Delmas. Derrick Williams gives us depth at WR and will most likely be our #1 kick returner. Hopefully Sammy Lee Hill can challenge for a starting spot as well. Overall B.

  • Im definately high on the Sammy Lee Hill pick.

  • The only reason Curry said he would take less money is because it still wouldve still been more then being 4th

  • Of course thats why. I dont think it matters why he'd take less, just that he would.

  • season ticket holders are killing the lions. stop going to the lions game and they will get better.

  • the draft wasnt that bad i no tey needed a d-linemen at 20 but the tightend will helpthe qb's alot and the ss they got is a pretty good player he brings he wood the rest of the pick is pretty much 4 deth

  • I would have taken Sanchez over Stafford but nevertheless at least they didn't take a WR in the first round lol...

  • Definately would have taken Crabtree over DHB though.

  • You know what? I'm actually happy with DHB...Crabtree's attitude SUCKS and DHB gives us a deep threat which we don't have...plus he has some pretty consistent hands despite what people say...remember he played on a weak Maryland O in a conference that plays some D vs Crabtree and Maclin (who I don't like ) who play in wide open offenses with no-D conferences...that being said I expect Crabtree to be solid but we don't need cancers on the team

  • Time will tell on this one. Just saying it looked like a Madden 09 pick

  • time will tell on PERFORMANCE but all i'm saying is i don't want an asshole on the team and crabtree is exactly that

  • crabtree is a diva and there is no doubt about it but mike singletary is the biggest none bullshit coach in the nfl and he isnt gonna tolerate that shit from crabtree. thats why that pick made the most sense in the whole draft.
