  • I love the Mescaleros; but I do secretly wish that Simonen was playing bass on this song with Joe.

  • @prettynoose8497 It would be great with Paul on bass, Topper on drums, and Mick on guitar.

  • @GravCatt I certainly cannot deny that, lol!!! I play bass and I always thought Paul was the coolest lookin' motherf*cker to ever pick up a bass. Paul nowdays is the coolest motherscooter to pick up a paintbrush!!!!

  • what the fuck is wrong with that crowd? those idiots need to realise exactly how lucky they are to see the best songwriter there ever was.... and will be. i would have given my right arm to go and see Joe. tickets are wasted on these retards

  • Happy birthday Joe...

  • Give me an F.... oops wrong Joe!

  • Fuck me the crowd are in a coma

  • Saw these guys twice... Gooooood Groooooves

  • 15 Idiots hate the music.

  • Anyone know where I can get a T-shirt like that?

  • 15 nemisis for taliban explosed

  • Sometimes, I wish I was born earlier. Joe Strummer is my favourite musician ever and i'll never be able to see him :(

  • Great loved Joe and the Clash and partied with this song so many nights....days on and on.

  • RIP Joe

  • Saw them in 1999 at Rock City in Nottingham - stupendous

  • Great live version. Piano and drums are cool!

  • 15 justin bieber's fans votes this video...

  • Sucks that i only was 8 when he died, when my biggest wish was to see him live. Fucking sucks that all great bands like The Clash and all the cool lads like Joe are dead.... fucking new music sucks donkeyass

  • wow, the crowd looks pretty dead, come on guys, this is one of the best party songs ever written.

  • @popesweetjesus253

it is not just for party . it is the best punk rock song ever , better than blitzkrieg bop and anarchy in uk.

  • f*ck all those "rest in peace" in your messages. joe lives!!!

  • The future is unwrited...

    Know your rights!

    Joe Strummer 1952-2002

    R.I.P.

  • R.I.P. ROCK IN PEACE JOHN GRAHAM MELLOR! aka JOE STRUMMER

  • I didn't give the Mescaleros their due. I apologize. I am working to correct the oversight.

  • Rest in peace, Joe Strummer.. idol!

  • The Clash... Joe... The Mescaleros... and this song.... PURE CLASS!

  • i saw the clash back in 1979 in a crap venue (sound sucked). they were brilliant. fell in love with joe then and there. love him still today. miss him and his calls at ungodly hours ( i swear that man didn' t have a watch. or know about time differences) telling me to listen to this group or that group "cause their flat briiiiiiiiliant".

  • what's that lineup? where s tymon dogg?

  • joe strummer es un genio musical mi ran idolo!!!

  • god, this gig looks good, crowds a bit lame .. but Joe on form,

  • @xXPunkRockGrungeXx doesn't it.

  • Comment removed

  • @xXPunkRockGrungeXx yep and everyone is like Oh my GOD Lady Gaga and justin bieber and (insert crappy singer)! It's really annoying. I think after about 2000 music started getting crappier and crappier except for just a few bands.

  • Comment removed

  • I love how "rappers" is in quotations. Like you don't believe in them or something...

  • Joe Strummer was and will be THE CLASH forever

  • A great talent taken long before his time. R.I.P

  • That crowd looks like they dont have a clue.

  • the best thing about good music is it stops you worrying about all your debts for a few mins

  • I saw Joe play a gig in my hometown (Portsmouth UK) about three weeks before he died. I'll remember it for the rest of my life. The Clash and Joe Strummer have made such a profound impact on my life. Sadly missed.

  • hey no fair! their cheap plastic cups

    have handles

  • Joe was one of the true Gods os my adolescence, along with Iggy and Siouxsie Sioux, all of which I was damn lucky to see perform live! He's the first of them to be gone, but his legacy will live on in the centuries to come!!

  • This is by far my favorite band. I miss Joe so much. I still wonder what it would be like if he were alive. probably people would not care for them. its like Michael Jackson, your only good if your dead. I think its stupid. no one needs to die in order to be appreciated. Katoness, you are absolutly right.

  • Its strange if strummer was still alive, There would not be all this hype as to whether the crowd reacts or not. People only care when your dead. People are fucking weird!

  • What Joe said..most people wouldn't understand in ANY language.... just listen, it's the TRUTH.......

  • The middleman germans are probably a bit mellow just because they don't understand what the song is about.

  • joe strummer lebt für immer, in meinem herz und in seiner musik, the clash for ever

  • 1982 - a good year ;D

  • what a fucking SHIT audience

    Pathetic man !

  • It's German audience, what did you expect?

  • that crowd pissed me off. I also dont like the young inde people he chose to play with

  • would you rather he play with old, bigoted, capitalist fools?

  • Id wish he would have played with someone like sid or johnny rotten more of a punk rocker. but i guess that would have been kinda hard cause he was getting old. lol

  • 微妙

  • Saw Joe and the Meskies 3 times, and the place was rockin' all 3 times. The crowd at this gig didn't deserve to see Joe.

  • Once saw Joe front the Pogues- it was rock and roll bliss!!

  • R.I.P. Joe Strummer- the best front-man/rhythm guitarist ever!!

  • Comment removed

  • I thought the Mescaleros did a good job with covering clash songs actually..

  • this song is unreal, unfortunately the Mescaleros band doesn't have the spirit of clash music, except for the drummer maybe, so the over band members look really poor

  • i need joe!

  • please god in the memory of joe strummer i have no money but if i send u a blank dvd could you please record this for me?

  • this days youngs don;t listen good music :( (look at statistics to this video)

  • @Yex00 ...you clearly dont know what music is, joe strummer was a musical visionary, and you have no right to say that about the band

  • I'm sorry i don't know what i said my comments been removed o.o? Did i say i hated The Clash or something? Why would i be listening to one of there songs if i hated them?

  • it was something bashing on joe strummer, and that was my thoughts exactly, i never understood y ppl go on here and bash on videos that they dont like, its like...if u dont like it, dont listen to it lol, sorry if i offended, that was not my intention, i just have strong emotional ties to joe strummer's music

  • o.o oh sorry xD im really confused as to why i would say that i LOVE the clash :D

  • punk rock music is the voice of those with no voice.

  • Long live Joe Strummer. This song was so relevant through the Bush presedencies... Check out his Wikipedia page - very enlightening! Viva Joe!

  • live version gets my vote!

  • me identifico mucho

  • THE CLASH IS better!

  • this kicks serious assssss

  • joe is king

  • this is bullshit... i never got to see the clash.. or the mescaleros live...

eff the disney shit and the top 40 that's "popular" today, this is REAL music and joe was REAL

sucks to be 18 in 2009

  • yes i was bad born in time to im 17

  • i know what you mean i am only twelve and the things to do and hear and see are so shitty

  • 14 with the same thought!

  • no complaining man.. youve got archives and archives of old music waiting for you.. just dont tune your tv to MTV :p

  • and in addition to that.. musicians nowadays are better then musicians then.. i mean, joe strummer could write good songs but he aint nog guitar slayer (like say a jack white, john mayer, matt bellamy or even that guy fronting reel big fish)

  • Most musicians today usually are nicking ideas/tunes from groups from past deacdes.

Clash,Pistols, Ramones etc THEY were what the likes of White Stripes and all recent bands owe their sounds to imo.

  • i feel ya there man......i never got to see either band and im 27.....the clash was gone and this band just never showed in our around ohio to fit my hectic lifestyle then joe passed.

at least he left his music man....

    LONG LIVE THE KING

    sleep well joe.....we miss ya!

  • I was lucky, i was in my mid teens in late 1970's, some great bands back then that relied on the MUSIC not the VIDEOs.

  • Yup, very true. I'm 19 and didn't get to see them live. Unless we make a time machine lol.

  • @xxlondoncalling there is hope out there, good man!

  • @xxlondoncalling You have to make your own revolution, uprise to confront powers that want you to go back to sleep.

  • @xxlondoncalling It sucks to be 15 in 2010.

  • @Xantalien Agree. I'm 15.

  • @xxlondoncalling yeah mate! crap to be 18 in 2009/2010

especially when you see the state of this shit crowd

they don't have a clue what they're witnessing

  • @xxlondoncalling dude the scene sucks in general. So go out and stir it the fuck up! Do what you can make a change. Hell RATM stir up the pop world in 2009!

  • @xxlondoncalling - Shea Stadium, Queens NY, 1982 - You didn't miss much!

  • @xxlondoncalling I feel your pain. I saw them in Toronto in 1980 with Black Uhuru as the opening act. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Music lasts forever, though. Chin up.

  • @xxlondoncalling you said it but you can go out and get your friends starting bands with real passion and messages to spread - three chords and the truth will never be out of style!

  • @xxlondoncalling get your friends and start a band - 3 chords and the truth will never go out of style if done right!

  • What an idiot audience, they had a LEGEND in front of them and nobody seemed to care.

  • True!i m still watching it n i can t believe it

  • @stigmata77 Born into an era where unoriginality exists most of them

  • the drummer is very good but is acting a little... FRUITT PUNCHH!

  • Life is so stupid...W.Bush alive, and Joe Strummer dead...I Can't understand.

  • @clementles different diet...

  • @clementles Cant agree with you possibly more......all the sick and evil fucks live while anyone on a mission with love in their heart gets knocked out

  • @clementles Cant agree with you possibly more......all the sick and evil fucks live while anyone on a mission with love in their heart gets knocked out...

  • Audience fucking sucks. I'd be freaking out if I saw him play this.

  • No problem, I know what you mean. The audience in the video didn't seem excited.

  • stupid germans dont know to apreciate the good music

  • It's not germany, it's cologne. For many people in germany thats not the same.

I Know that this is fantastic music and I'm from northern germany. ;-)

  • WTF is wrong with the crowd!!!!? are all they deaf or too stoned??? Common! it's JOE F-ING STRUMMER there!!! jesuschrist!

  • this music for THIS crowd? pearls for swines

  • This was the Clashes biggest sellng single, and ironically it was not written by Joe or Mick. It was written by Topper, (the Clashes stellar drummer), who had been booted out by the time the Clash released the song, because of his heroin addiction.

Joe is starting to get his due respect in r & r circles. Springsteen said in this months Rolling Stone interview that the artists that interested him were Hank Williams, Dylan, Bob Marley, and Joe Strummer. (Great company for Joe.)

    RIP, Joe.

  • It was written by Joe Strummer. Composed by Topper Headon

  • Geez! That crowd SUCKS!!!

  • They're listening to a Clash legend song and songwriter and their just standing there.
