  • 300 euro you can buy a lot of vst that can replace complitely this 3000 euro crap.

  • Баловство.Не более.Да ещё за такие деньги.

  • Nice toy, utterly unimpressed. Wow, Roland has really slipped compared to the other players. Yamaha Motif or S series blows this away. Korg is better. Kurz is better!

  • @jaguar65100 All you hear in this vid are presets. The full power of the synth is unleashed when working with your own patches.

  • Always thought the V-synth was overpriced for what its factory presets spit out. If you want to sell a product, send it out the door with more than 'novelty sounds'

  • The more real sound and expression between acoustic instruments and musician interact but don't come with any real instruments patchs and are no findable, is just another powerful modeling synth, realistic my arse.

  • I'm really loving those "vocal designers"! So they are vocoders?

  • It will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.

  • Thas a freaking awsome synth bro!! PHAT. I love the leads too! distortion fnction any good on those?

  • I almost choked at some of these comments.. the fact is that the V-Synth is the only NEW synth in the last 10 years.. if you are getting caught up on specs/VST/computer then you just do not understand synthesis :)

  • fantastic synth i own one ....love love love it !!!!!!!

  • Awesome synth, but too bad this clip is in mono. Would have liked to hear this machine in all it's glory.

  • Does the Virus let you resample itself, timestretch loops, D-beam, have a D-50 inside, and have the original tSupersaw? Don't think so. Why would I want to use the computer anyway? A touch screen is always better than keyboard and mouse. This is a performance synth. It is not analog but you can get very close if you know what you are doing.

  • each to their own.what is easiest to work from i find to be the key.if its software you have to use a midi controller.if not then its to much pissin about with the mouse.

hardware gives you direct control.just make some damb tunes maaaaaan.and get em on youtube.peace.

  • cool vocoder stuff

  • VIRUS TI !!!! i want

  • Is a great instrument.

  • 2.05 No excuses for that!! I have a V-Synth XT - it is the most bad ass sound design tool you'll ever come across - so deep. Underground Resistance use it - enough said. This is just bullshit i'm afraid.

  • man...it's decided, I will get this thing, thanks for the video.

  • @smoke227

That's a terrible way to decide on any instrument. Imagine buying a guitar without knowing how it feels in your hands. Please play the instrument(s) first. Then decide.

  • @ORUPRANKSTAZ I know what you mean but I'm making music for videogames and I like visual synths with big knob and big screen :) The sounds are just fantastic in my opinion...the only thing that bug me is that there is only 61 keys(i think?) but there is a stackmount version..but again it's not the same, its better to have all in front of you with the keyboard...

  • Lovely sounds here dude. This is one kick ass sound engine for something really different and leftfield

  • I LOVE THIS

  • What's the price of this?

  • @Forsure3333 $3300

  • Sicc ass synth too bad the guy is a pony tail

    Fagg hahaha

  • DOES THIS SYNTH HAVE A MULTI MODE?

  • Comment removed

  • kriss j'tai tu dis d'mendormir tabarnak!!!"1

  • lol sa c du clavier mdr sa yai jle veut lol

  • ( China E-Pno 012 ) awesome patch!

  • You can make some very great sounds, also good drums, with the V-Synth. I love my XT

  • I've tested the V-synths at the store and - for the first time in music history - the "canned" sound was gone! I love the V synth idea but the synths suffer from stupid limitations. The D50 feature should have been a standard on the expensive GT, much more memory, ability to work with *wav files etc...otherwise it's a great concept; also, the V-synth works with 32 bits resolution so the sound clarity is impressive!

  • @Aetila

the vsynth gt really lacks the d50 feature?

    how embarrassing is that?

  • @Aetila Not sure what you mean by canned sound. I was impressed by the bass end on these, its not too far off analogue and it has a lot of punch and sizzle, far more than a softsynth and it sits brilliantly in a mix with an analogue pad or backing.

  • @maccagrabme

No...I said: The canned sound was GONE on the V-synth!

I myself love this synth and looking for the XT version. No doubt it sounds great and punchy...I think the sound resolution of 32 bit instead of only 16 bit on other synths makes the difference, plus the HQ effects.

  • @Aetila Yes I know what you meant, not the V-Synth but previous synths but I wasn't sure which synths you were referring to? I have an XV3080 and its clean and punchy.

  • Great demo...I just can't believe that Roland left out the D50 feature from the GT; they couldn't install a darn VC1 card reader...that it pretty sick.

  • @Aetila : and even more sick they don't produce any V-cards anymore....they integrated the card itself (vc-2 vocal designer) into the VP-7...

The D-50 card seems to be now obsolete...

  • What a beauty! Great demo and thanks for sharing.

  • Having an awesome Synth doesn't mean you can make awesome music :)

  • Floating peacefully around Orion's Belt about now. Thanks for the Demo.

  • Digital synthesizers (imo) sound better than digital VSTs, just a bit more 'life' to it. Hard to describe. Of course throw in a bit of analog for them phat sounds too.

  • 010 sounds like JR. cool demo! :)

  • This synth is incredible. I'd pay through the nose just for the vocoder capabilities it possesses.

  • lol worse keyboard for piano sound. LOL

  • @maxde19 Maybe because it's not built for that?

  • @maxde19 well it is a synth c'mon. isn't like it's built for that sorta thing. what it lacks in pianos it makes up for in gritty and beefy synth leads that sound great!

  • if only i could afford one.

  • I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed this keyboard!!!

    IT'S GENIAL

  • He s a very good dancer what a style

  • thats sickkk

  • ANIMAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks for the video!

  • tech snobs........... you can always suck my dick in stereo

  • @mysticradio

It's too small to register as sound. Sorry.

    (No homo)

  • we prefer 7.1

  • WHY WOULD YOU POST A VIDEO LIKE THIS AND NOT HAVE IT IN "480p" aka "High Quality?"

ALL, and I mean ALL uploads to youtube are inherently mono unless you select to have them in High Quality or, now, "480p."

Who knows what the hell I'm missing unless I add &fmt=18 at the end of the URL? Unless you're a dick and only put it out through one channel... in which case it wouldn't matter.

To anyone who gives me a "thumbs down," stop listening through ur damn computer speakers and use some Genelecs.

  • LOL at Oruprankstaz for thinking Genelecs are good.

And dumbass, if you want stereo, go buy the thing you broke ass mother fucker.

  • @ScorchinBeats

LOL at "ScorchinWhiteAss" for thinking FL "Studio" is good.

Logic & Pro Tools, man. Bread and butter. But in the end, it doesn't really matter what DAW you use... unless it's FL Studio. FL Studio is a joke. Ask anyone outside of Youtube or Music Centre, and they'll tell you the same.

Also, I noticed that you make "beats." You know what they call Canadian Rap? C-RAP or, further shortened, CRAP. :)

  • You know I was just having that Pro tools > All conversation with a stupid audiowhore loser.

If you think that you can't make professional sounding music with AUDACITY, you're a total idiot. You just need the hardware and the know-how, which you obviously don't have.

PS: If you look at my channel, you'll see those rap beats are labelled as OLD.

And Canada owns your ass. If you're an american: start hating when you get free health care.

  • @ScorchinBeats

Yeah, because Canada's GDP is SOOOO much higher (cough).

And Audacity is a nice tool, don't get me wrong, but it will never take the place of a DAW. I like being able to sequence.

And I don't have the know-how? Yeah, because I don't own an (albeit old) HD24 system. Hey buddy, can you tell me what a stem is? Haha you probably don't even know that without Google! What about a Decca tree? Do you know what THAT is? Haha.. stop searching.

  • @ORUPRANKSTAZ

I personally use another daw but if I tell you the famous producers that use FL Studio you will reconsider your opinion

  • The AP synthesis is about the best thing on this synth. Very few accoustic sounds avalable for this though. As usual, the Variphrase technology ruins the sounds outside of the sampled range. The factory sounds are for the most part far less than what you can create easily on your own.

  • ok guys...stop arguing and watch my videos. I composed some fl-studio goodie2x beats for you...please have a heart and check it out... :D

  • if i won the lottery, this would be the first thing i would go out and buy.

  • I love the synth sound

  • you are the hero"!

  • WTF? Why did everyone thumbs down ORUPRANKSTAZ? He's right!

If we're going to watch one of the most expensive synths (note, I said SYNTHS, not workstations) in action we want to hear it in HQ!

  • Agreed!!!!

  • I agree! But too many dumb people just marked your comment as Spam and thumbs down. Surely they would be interested in the best quality video & sound too. I guess this world is more interested in MP3 quality than actual studio quality, which is what this synth can produce.

  • in a mix none of you ''dudes' could tell the difference.

quit arguing and go make some amazing music.... gawd

  • Comment removed

  • @mysticradio All blind tests, A/B comparisons of plugins VS hardware synths or Plugins VS outboard start with some nice sound on a hardware that later to be copied on a plugin. All plugin producers tell you each day - no difference in the mix. But they do not tell you YOU'll be more creative with a piece of hardware than with a plugin.

  • roland has one of the most beautiful preset sounds in the world..all synths have their own caharacteristical sounds..and rolands is just out there awesome sounds.

  • hey, how about that microkorg. hahahahaha.

  • Ok, some of the best software instruments can sound really ugly if paired with cheap converters and cheap interfaces. One dilemma though: I compared Korg Legacy's Wavestation to my hardware W.S EX unit and the hardware still sounded bigger, better and more detailed side by side listening to the same presets and I use an excellent M-Audio sound card !

  • Yep, LikidySplitz has it...the only difference between a VST and a hardware synth in terms of audio quality is D/A converters, which have a negligible effect on the actual output. What you're paying for is STABILITY. A synth rarely crashes or has bugs, unlike a computer.

Then again, these days with synths out there like the Waldorf Blofeld that are put out prematurely...well I won't start that argument up.

  • china electric piano at 4:07 reminds me of the super nintendo game, firefox.

  • I LOVE This synth! :)

  • WHy are half of you so retarded. Synths are SOFTWARE with fast HARDWARE BUILT FOR THE SYNTH o the only difference is a synth is faster. You morons think a synth has strings inside it or somehting? Or is it made of wood and needs to be keps in a humid environment. MORONS.

  • @LikidySplitz hey...you are talking about digital sintesis....But with analog synths the sound is made by the electronics (and no with algorithms and mathematical formulas..) so the sound it's not possible to emulate by a computer or a digital interface.....

  • @LikidySplitz

You're a dumbass with no working knowledge of keyboard instruments. You're right, though. My Mac TOTALLY has a ROM chocked full of samples built in.

Futhermore, you're generalizing. When you mention strings, I'll assume you're referencing sample-playback engines.

I think what's REALLY happened here is that personal computers have improved so drastically over the last 10 years that the line between hardware and software is being blurred.

  • @LikidySplitz a synthetizer its a software with hardware, the difference is that a hardware synth makes sound from electricity , it has circuits, cables, transistors etc a soft synth doesnt...

  • @LikidySplitz TOTALLY WRONG, you said "Synths are " the Alesis Andromeda, Moogs and Prophet and alot more are analog synths not software inside they work with complex electronic and electric variations inside.

So no morons over here, You are a noob retarded.

  • @LikidySplitz

Uhh... what about analog synthesizers? Are you daft?

  • @VectronMusic we were talking about digital synths. I collect analog/modular synths dont worry im not daft. im the opposite

  • @LikidySplitz or a magical leprechaun playing a mystical accordeon inside :)

  • @LikidySplitz All parts, A/D converters, sampling clock on a hardware synth are all designed and built to match each other and solve very specific musical tasks and all give their input in the way the device sounds and responds to your performance. If you feel that a standard Mac or a PC is Everything a computer could be then you're very naive.

GT is a really cool digital synth.

  • yall are stupid.

  • How can anyone argue whether or not real sounds better than VST? Name one plugin or analog synth that sounds better than the roland V we are listening to right now. Just name one!

  • @KhanSlayer

    vst: Omnisphere by faaaaar

synths: ALL the analogs.... haha! so simple!

  • @iasonas8 Omnisphere is definetly the best out there in my opinion. I like analog synths too but I can only listen to square, triangle, and sawtooth for so long. Even the most complex modular patches are lacking and thats why sample based blows them out of the water. You always have the option of running sampled sounds through analog style filters and effects but analog never produces convincing strings or wind instruments. so simple!!!

  • @KhanSlayer

for that kind of sounds you apparently haven't heard to Andromeda live...

every analog synth has it's own character

for example strings and wind as you say @ minimoog sucks(the basses rule).

    It depends what you want

  • @iasonas8 Andromeda plucked strings is nice but its bowed is shit just like all direct synthesis except Yamaha VL1. Check out the VL1 wind and bowed strings. It tops many sample based in imitating the real thing. Hands down the most convincing nonsampled synth of all time. Its a free country. Your entitled to your opinion and I understand your point.

  • @iasonas8 I also have to add that Omnisphere supports VST plug-ins but itself is not a vst application. Omnisphere is completely sample based man! I don't know what makes you think that it is not, but the gigs an gigs of samples that come with it should have given that away for you. A vst virtual instrument is no different than an analog patch. No offense but I don't think you know what your talking about at all!!! so simple!!!

  • @KhanSlayer

    someone discovered America...

ofcourse I know what Omnisphere is and it has(library) for the simple reason that I own Omnisphere!!! DAAAAAA!!!

And it is not completely sample-based!!! It has it's own oscilators etc so you can create your own patches, learn and then reply, or better leave it...

  • @iasonas8 Omnisphere is nothing without its samples. The oscillators and effects are nice but you can get all that with even windows media player plugins. Take the real samples away and for what purpose would you ever use Omnisphere over something like Reason 4? Nobody, including myself, ever bought any spectronics products for its oscillators.

  • @KhanSlayer : vst instruments like XILS-lab's PolyKB or XILS3 has some very serious algorythms....more complex than a V.A.S.T. 'analog' patch (for.ex.).

Its not so simple and there is the latency problem which should be optimized for the actual dsp system (for.ex a Corei7 cpu or an embedded dsp).

    Very very complex code...

  • @Nord72 im not sure I understand which comment you are responding too? For brevity I'll just restate my main point. Analog and/or direct synthesis algorithms are great at creating arbitrary sounds but very poor at emulating acoustic instruments with the exception of physical modeling (Yamaha VL1). This doesn't mean you cant create some killer leads on a dsp algorithm. Their just better suited at creating unique sounds. I've never listen to a PolyKB so feel free to provide a link for an example.

  • I agree with Vocod3r.Vst is cool but real synth is better for true musicians

  • ummm actually LikidySplitz is right...

  • THANK YOU

Fucking marry me. This tool has been going on forever with no substance in his gay argument.

    YOU ARE THE SAVIOR

  • I love this synthesizer. This and the G8 are my favs.

  • thanks for posting, where do i get a new 1 in the uk!

  • to the people discussing VSTI / real synth : all the time you waste discussing this pointless topic, you arent making music. most VA real hardware synths today like virus and vsynth are basically vsti in hardware box, the may sound better to your ear because of better audio hardware then in standard pcs. I own a bunch of synths, nordlead 2x, virus, vsynthGT etc and I prefer the sound above the software synths, but its just a matter of opinion, there isnt really a difference cept for real analogs

  • Anything digital can be recreated in the computer so you are right. The good thing with hardware is that the synths themselves have own processors which allows you to do pretty advanced stuff without having the system lagging off :P

  • I was not very impressed with the factory sounds but you can easily create some fantastic unique sounds on your own. Also the sampled violin and erhu PCM programs sound very synthetic--not very realistic although the Articulative Phrase Synthesis is worth the price by itself. Even a synthetic sound can be wonderful sounding when manipulated correctly.

  • i tried this synth today, great synth the only thing i dont know is if its better than an acces virus ti

  • what a moronic comment, vocod3r...

so you don't 'know' if its better than access virus TI..hahahaha

dude, these are 2 totally different sounding synths, and ofcourse the v-synth kills the access virus TI with its color touchscreen and controls...while the virus uses primitive lcd matrix...

as far as sound, v-synth is a lot more powerful than the virus to use it to play full songs / audio files due to variphrase sequencing.

virus is a good va synth, albeit with heavy aliasing...

  • @lavakava Well. The virus has its own VST which lets you use 16 instances of the virus aka. 16 sounds at the same time. And the "touch screen" on the v-synth is just bullshit compared to the virus vst :)

  • @LzI A wise man doesn't need to prove he is better. A better man doesn't need to prove he is wise. I think we are seeing neither here.

  • @Vocod3r

depends, what kind of music you want to make?

  • Whats the difference between this and lets say, bringing your laptop with MASSIVE or some virtual instrument software with your shitty keyboard that has MIDI?

    IS THIS 100823512o749u% wortth it?

  • Hardware is always worth the money.

  • Thats Bs.

    I say mixer, you say:

  • are you kidding? did you ever tried a real synth?

its like flying a jet through a simulator next to flying a real jet.

because the v-synth has better sound\more comfortable\easy and its a REAL synth that has what a vst doesnt have.

  • Do you know how a synth works?

    its a giant vst

  • i had it for a year and it wasnt as good as a real synth.

go to your local music instrument store. ask them to try ANY synthesizer

    than will talk...

  • None of those words mean anything when youre playing a synth...

THe interface doesnt have physical knobs, but it is just as fast and responsive and accurate...

Music stores want to sell synths you fool.

  • they do, and untill you try a real synth you dont know anything about it trust.

a real synth sound alot better and give better results

you cant compare a vsti to a real synth.

vsti's are for people who cant afford synths.

  • *also more acurate and more powerfull*

  • if it was really what you are saying, people wouldnt have buy synths...

  • Synths work faster because there is more proccessing power going towards JUST the synth.

If you have a nice quad core lots of ram computer, it wont make that big of a difference. You are a fanboy.

  • its not about the speed, its about the SOUND and precision which a vst will never have, a vst emulates a synth. even if you have a very good soundcard

and with a very strong pc you wont get the same sound\results as you get with a synth.

    noob.

  • A SYNTH ISNT A STRING OR BRASS INSTRUMENT.

IT doesnt need to be miced, and it doesnt need a preamp. It doesnt need to be converted to digital signal because it is a freaking computer.

  • it is an instrument, and it sounds alot better than a vst in

more comfortable and easy to use,

    more precise

    and more fun,

so a synth is the ultimate choice.

  • Can I kill you please?

    WHAT DO THESE ADJECTIVES MEAN?

A guitar sounds bette rthan a vst because a vst never sounds like a guitar, but a synth is a piece of expensive software with expensive hardware JUST LIKE A COMPUTER. GAH IM DONE ARGUING WITH YOU FOOL

  • you are the fucking fool here

go ask any professional and he will tell you the same.

a real synth is 2 to 4 times better than ANY vst because its not emulating anything its real and it sounds alot better.

  • IT IS NOT EMULATING ANYTHING

AHHHHH I WANT TO KILL YOU

Fuck Im going to wikipedia and I will rape you through messages

  • what vst tops the roland V? Isn't sample based synthesis the newest wave of technology meant to fill the gaps FM and subtractive synthesis couldn't?

  • @LikidySplitz:Better to say, there are digital synths (where a program runs on a dedicated platform, like all digital keyboards, or on a PC, like VSTs) or analog (where the raw signal coming from an oscillator is being processed and modulated with electronic components). There are so many synth architectures, not necessarily analog better than digital, and saying that a synth it's "a piece of expensive software and hardware like a computer" means that you don't know synths so much

  • ure right dude totally right ! :D

  • because it sounds like crap next to a synth

  • a must have

  • It is well woth the money!

Bought mine a year ago and I love it!

Took me a while to get in to the programing but now the only thing that disturbs me is that you can´t adress all parameters in the FX-departement. But it has some really killer FX´s. Like a Barberpole-Phaser(the only bad thing about it is that you can´t tempo sync the phasingspeed).

  • I will buy this synth... maybe next year... this is awesome, I hope Roland still making those synths with more capabilities same as fantoms

  • Has it piano samples too? Thanks

  • Does it have a sequencer? Are the sounds the exact same as the original v synth? Awesome board

  • Both yes and no. The Arp. can double as a standard Arp-gen or as a stepsequencer. It also features a 16step generator with four independent tracks(4per tone).

  • V-Synth GT is a bad ass synth !

  • made in japan. that explains everything!

  • KORG, ROLAND & YAMAHA a pr0duct that was made by th0se c0mpany are made fr0m japan and that means serious music techn0l0gy are inc0rp0rated 0n th0se

  • this is what called a reality..:)..

  • superb

  • cool great demonstration i think also...

    i wish i had it! :)

  • great demonstration.

  • wow - what a awesome synth
