I'm glad to see that Mr. Perriello can do more than vote for Obama's failed policies and then lie to his constituents about it. He'll need those job skills when he himself receives his pink slip on Nov 2. Good luck, pal.
Try checking out the better paying construction sites in Periellos district stimulus or not and see how many non Americans are working them. Whos getting these jobs he speaks of
Hmmm? Has Perriello really been fighting for jobs, or for bigger government? I live in the 5th district and I've been unemployed since November 2009. Since then I've had 6 job interviews, 2 job fairs, and have submitted my applications to dozens more employers, but no dice. There aren't any jobs out there thanks to the Obama-Pelosi agenda, so I'll be saying goodbye to one-term Tommy on November 2. Good riddance.
@thefunkyworm1 It's a funny campaign ad poking (gentle) fun at the guy himself, which are extremely rare. Paul Wellstone did a famous one in 1990 where he had to talk really fast.
Is this guy for real? Most of those jobs are specifically government jobs. Economic growth comes from jobs in the private sector. Some people are so dense.
.
Government gets it money from taxing the private sector... if they don't allow the PRIVATE sector to grow, they won't have money to fund all of their special interest projects.
.
Also, creating public jobs is the same as buying votes. If the government was paying you, I'm sure you'd vote for big government too.
@RapIsDeadly A good part of those were infrastructure. Do you think things like roads and internet provide no benefit beyond the job putting them into place?
AKA, you'd do best to shut up, you've made it clear that you don't know what you're talking about. As if that wasn't already apparent when you blamed Obama after watching an add that isn't even about him.
@RapIsDeadly: Keynsian economics states that short-term deficits are not your biggest worry; the biggest worry is that the economy will start contracting or fall back into a second recession. The idea being, spending money on the jobs are an *investment* which will grow the GDP more quickly, which is what you *really* want. It worked in the 1950s: big defecits, but also big economic growth.
This is not meant to be rude: Have you taken an economics class? If so, when?
@Shn1fty You can repeat this weird Republican talking point about govt jobs versus private jobs all you want, but it doesn't make it true. It's not that black and white. Besides, the ads talks about expanding broadband coverage (private), diary farms (private), construction (private), alternative energy (private), weatherization (private). The only "govt jobs" I see mentioned are law enforcement... and surely, you're not against those.
@tfleming You're not looking deep enough. Broadband coverage in SCHOOLS -governments pays. Construction on ROADS - Government pays. All the "CLEAN ENERGY" getting benefits from the government... a ton of taxpayers money is being dumped into clean energy and it just doesn't have the output that we need. As great as it sounds, this just isn't the time to be wasting money on "clean" jobs. Environmentalism should not be our priority in this economy. Eventually yes, it should be, But not now.
@Shn1fty You're totally confused. So what if the government is paying.... who are they paying? PRIVATE workers. And without government investment in clean jobs, we'll not be able to transition to a clean economy without much more pain. Would you prefer putting off the pain of the transition to your children? By that time, China and India will have surpasses us in this area and even then, the U.S. economy will lag. Think beyond the immediate economic situation.
@tfleming That's great and all that the government is paying some private workers but it doesn't really make sense to pay private workers with the money you just stole from them in taxes. As far as clean energy goes, NO, we do not need government support. China doesn't give a crap about the environment. Even so, fine, let them spend the money developing the technology and then we'll get it from them. I'd rather pass my children a better economy then clean energy when oil is still abundant.
@Shn1fty You're just demonstrating that you don't know anything beyond TP politics. China is investing in clean energy, even as it secures oil reserves for its exploding ( & increasingly capitalist) population. If we don't do the same, we'll be reliant on them just as we are on Saudi Arabia now. I'd rather pass onto my children a booming economy with increasing state-of-the-art tech exports and renewed American know-how than one stagnating with out-dated and restrictive materials.
@tfleming Sadly, China can do whatever they please with their money because they have it. And what do you think your politics are? "Trust our government" "invest money we don't have"
You can't just hope that clean energy saves our children. There just simply aren't enough "clean jobs" to employ enough people to help the economy. We need to get out of debt by cutting spending and using the oild that's left.
@Shn1fty Rather than drill deeper to reach diminishing oil, we should be transitioning to clean tech before we hit the end with no preparation. We can transition 50% military spending to retooling outdated equipment, producing plentiful jobs for veterans and contractors leading to a new post-war boom. We'd still be spending more than next 5 govts combined & making a boatload selling them clean tech made by vets. Otherwise we're risking our country's and children's future while others surpass us.
@tfleming Ok, Lets ignore the fact that lots of our own oil is being protected by environmentalists. Let's pretend it's not even there. I'm fine with cutting back on military spending but please explain to me what this clean tech is that our vets will be making. How are we going to sell it to other countries.
lol this is prob a lie u cant do everything yeah internet in skewls i believe that but with the economy like this i think virginia is 1/50th of the u.s people need more than that :/
@Deposetheboyking What common sense message? Democrats believe in stealing money from people who earn it and giving it to people who will vote for them. Democrats believe in spending and never cutting, just raising taxes to fund their failed social programs. Time for personal responsibility something Democrats are completely against. We have a country of free-loaders always expecting handouts. Democrats refuse to support the things that create jobs.
Awesome ad and an even better Congressman. I don't live in his district, but if I did I'd be darn proud. He is a great leader and one of the brightest political stars in the country.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
He won't answer emails or tell his staff where he stands, even on the day he is to vote on a bill. It took 7 months to answer over a hundred email and I got responses to 7 which didn't matter after 7 month. His staff has called me to ask why I have resubmitted emails. Really now... He goes on CNN...does anyone even watches CNN? He need to get on a station that people watch...remembering we were a red state before. Just stating facts from personal experience. Good ad, there were no attracts.
@libertyordeath4me I wouldn`t answer your emails either. You ,like all good Republicans, have a bad attitude and think the world revolves around you and your petty opinion. You have no idea that the Bush gang has removed much of your liberty.Keep voting for Republicans and you`ll get death not liberty.
