My impression for this guitar, from all the videos i've seen on youtube is that its muddy and dirty...not the case in 10% of the videos where the guitar sounds excellent, solid, not that bassy...But how this guitar actually sounds in real? Can you get the good tone out of it if you dont have a valve amp, using transistor-solid amp? Can you make it sound good if you have a good experience in setting amps? I cant find this guitar in my town and check her out and see how she really actually sounds.
Nice sound. I wonder why no one records himself playing ska on les pauls. If you know ska stuff i would be very thankful to you if you do some ska rhythms.
As73 has a much cleaner and warmer sound for me at least. but the les paul had that classic bite....for this song and the solo the as73 takes it....but I think the settings preferred the nature of the hollow body for this one...1 setting may work for one guitar not all. So kind of throws off the comparision of their true potentials.
ive got the as73g..and it plays waaaaayy better than a stand epi les paul, its all matter of opinion though, i like the sound of my as73g better than my friends standard paul, but hey whatever blows your skirt up.
I personally don't have a say in which guitar is better because I don't have enough expereience with either. But if I had a first choice it would be les paul.
You mean the les paul style body? No. They have their own bodies and occasionally use a strat style body, like Jackson does. I think the bodies are copyrighted, so you have to pay Fender or Gibson to use them.
great playin:). awesome sound. personally im a strat man. theres just a tone off a strat you can get out of no other instrument. but every guitar is unique i suppose
I Agree in the respect that you can.. but some styles sound much better on certain guitars, for example metal works much better on ibanez and gibson than on a strat, but yeah,, I guess both are possible
I would say that, although Les Paul himself does not really play rock, comparing the Les Paul to an Artcore is like comparing apples to oranges.
I see that you have Jazz pups on the the Les Paul but still it is very much a rock guitar (Jackson uses a SD Jazz jb tb4 in the bridge position of the SL2 and KE2's and they are rock guitars through and through.
The Artcore sounds very nice with that bluesy sound you had dialed in there.
Nice bed sheet! It's really retro. The sound of your guitars are epic. I have a crappy Ibanez Gio. It buzzes all the time and get out of tune in like 5 minutes of playing it. So i give your playing and your guitars a 10/10! BRAVO
This is awesome video thx for making cuz i was trying to decide which guitar to buy. I'm leaning towards the ibanez as73 because it has a nice and clean sound. The les paul is more rock n roll type sound.
I was also thinking about either the as73 or the eiphone,I got the epiphone because if i ever want to use distortion either have feedback like hell with the as73 or have no feedback at all with the epiphone. But if you play clean sound defenitely get the as73.
I got both guitars and even though the Les Paul can plays heavy distortion the best, you can definitely rock with an as73. I'm not sure if you'll have feedback on stage but with my practice amp max volume i'm not getting any feedback at all. I prefer the Ibanez over the Epiphone because the build quality is just better and it's a bit more special looking. Anyway if you like to play loud metal/heavy rock go fot the LP
i think they are both great guitars. It would now depend on your taste. as for me i like the bluesy sound of the as73 i agree with unopeptio06, the as73 suited this song. But i think the epi would sound better when playing a rock and roll song
I've got an Ibanez AS-73 in the 'violin burst' color. GREAT look, awesome binding especially around the f-holes...and after I stuck in a set of Seth Lover pups and replaced the wiring with vintage, it rocks as good as an ES-335...for about 2K less! ;) These are a fantastic deal!
I got an Epi, but like the sound of the Ibanez here much better.. I was looking for a video of a Ibanez AS93 but this 73 should sound like what I was needing to know..
Man I was just playing that Ibanez at the music store today. I love it. For the price, its a VERY solid purchase. As far as the les paul goes, I'm not a fan, but thats just me.
then again depends wot kind of music u want to play
ibanez are gr8 for metal and playing fast...check out the rg350 if ur looking for value for money...but epiphones are great for rhythm...not reali the most accessible for soloing

ok, my advise, and i think the les paul wins, but im just saying, when you go into the solo turn the fret switch all the way down, i think thats when solos sound best.
I vote for the les paul you can git a even cleaner sound out of it if you turn the vol on the guitar down and cut the tone back the les paul's pickup's are hotter then the Ibanez I have both
Hmm. I've actually been researching both guitars to buy. This makes my decision even harder. The Ibanez sounds brighter, and the Les Paul sounds warmer. I'm actually surprised that the Duncans didn't make it sound even warmer than it did. I wonder how the Ibanez would sound with Duncans.
Pal, I think that your Ibanez sounded much better than the Epiphone. One could argue that they are different, but I rather think that the Ibanez kicked some serious ass, technically speaking... what is your opinion?
to those who shred the Ibanez 73 is not for you. an eppip hot roded w/emg's is more of what you would naturally want, but once you actually want to gig for money and not free beer, you will move over to instruments like the es 335 clones and such. anybody over 20yrs old will understand or so I want to believe
Lol, I don't totally agree with you that a Les Paul (or Tele) won't do a job just as good as a 335 clone...BUT I gotta say I love how you phrased this man. If nothing else you didn't toss in a random "donkey balls" or "f'ing sucks"....
i have an ibanez rg370dx with stock pickups and an epiphone les paul standard with emg hz's, and i have to say the les paul plays better than the ibanez, but sitting down the ibanez is better balanced with weight. Nice video both guitars sounded good to me
