A vote for Dr. Paul is a vote for yourself. He wants to limit gov intrusiveness in our lives & allow US to make our own choices. Stop politicians & the elites from thinking that they’re so smart that they know how to run our lives better than we do. He is one of the few politicians that will make difficult decisions, he will balance the budget by his 3rd year, while most politicians plan to balance the budget after their term is over
@Someideasandstuff - There are libertarians who try to run as Democrats or Republicans; however, they're generally treated horribly by those parties. Personally, I choose to avoid the Old Parties completely.
@batmanrules1014 you didn't respond to my comment. Libertarians believe in little/no regulation of capitalism. That's considered right-wing. Leftists on the other hand want the markets regulated
@Someideasandstuff - It's a bit more complex than that. Regulation is often lobbied for by the biggest of businesses. Regulation serves to hamper competition, thus limiting consumer choice, and the cost is passed on to consumers, thus shielding corporations from bear the costs. We believe in the freedom of an individual person to bring a product or service to market, and in the individual freedom of the consumer to purchase that good, or not.
@ken4ky Regulation is not a black and white issue which is how you are painting it. For example, the EPA just passed a law limiting mercury emissions from power plants. Read up on it
@Someideasandstuff No, a bit simplified it's like this: The political right wants to give an advantage to big business, the left wants to give an advantage to the lower classes. Libertarians want that no one gets any advantage.
No, you have it backwards. Libertarianism originally came from the left and anti-capitalism. You're thinking the hijakced U.S. right-libertarian falsehood.
In Canada we had a "Liberal" who was practically a libertarian (13billion surplus, conservative economic policies, supports rights such as gay marriage).
He was too boring, though, so we went and chose a dumbed of Ronald Reagan with no personality. Now our Liberal party is just another bunch of socialists and our "Conservative" is just a money-blowing so-con. HELP!
@batmanrules1014 I've been on their site and I know the guy who ran for them in my region. He got 113 votes in a region of 110 000 people :( Sadly they aren't going anywhere.
If you mean that we vote for people like Ron Paul, and Rand Paul (Republicans who are Libertarians) then yes. Some Libertarians run as Republicans so they have better chances at being elected to public offices.
Face palm that B! LOL! "B" is for bear. Vote LP!

In a nutshell, a good way to think of libertarianism is being on the right economically and on the left socially.

Ron Paul, a libertarian, is running under the Republican party for the next election.

This video is a bit bullshit. Libertarians are considered to be on the right in terms of economics due to their views on capitalism
.

@Someideasandstuff The video is only bullshit if you are naive enough to think that republicans are fiscally responsible.

@MrRedtubelover I don't know much more about them, other than that they exist, but there is a libertarian party in Canada.
libertarian.ca I would start your search there.
