I collect 45s, and I now have 252 out of 253 #1s. The only one I'm missing is "Listen To The Man Said" by Wings! Beat that Time Life, you say how much it would cost to find all of the original 45s in your ads. I'm also missing just one #2 hit of the '70s, "Use Me" by Bill Withers. So, despite this big collection, I still have over 100 #1's more than this set! I'm also missing only 8 #1's from the '60s and 7 #1's from the '80s- all on a 45!
Just a few reasons I loved growing up in the 70's. ZZ Tops, Lynyrd Skynard Kiss, Grand Funk, Bad Company, Boston, Deep Purple, Seager, Billy Joel, Black Oak Arkansas, Jackson Browne, The Who, Three Dog Night, Foreigner, Fleetwood Mac, Badfinger, Led Zeppelin, ELO, Joe Cocker, Seals and Crofts, Exile, Hollies, CCR, Dr, Hook, Sugarloaf, Ozark Mt. Daredevils.......Now come on 70's Rockers add to the list............ Thanks for the memories.
@hotstuffandicecream The Beatles, Queen, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Clash, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Judas Priest, Ted Nugent, Kansas, Journey, Supertramp, Styx, Frank Zappa, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Jethro Tull, Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd, Doobie Brothers, Linda Ronstadt, Eagles, Monkees, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Cars, Police, Go-Go's, Blondie, Dire Straits, Kinks and Talking Heads. I was there also.
The Problem with the Billboard # 1 Hits is simply that they just reflecting the US Market and letting out all 70' Musical Milestones which had been No 1 all over Europe such as T Rex, Smookie, Boney M, all of the ABBA # 1 Hits except Dancing Queen and a bunch of others.
I lived through the 70s. The music was amazing! You'll love this collection because it features all the biggest hits from the decade. And it comes with a really great booklet with tons of interesting stories.
I was born in 73,too bad i could'nt appreciate the music untill 83,then the 80's sucked ass,so thank god the 70's got me through to the 90's! But i still jam the old tunes, this is what music should be today!
You left out a very important song and artist from your list of Number 1 songs of the 70's. My channel is dedicated partially to the Queen of 70s Pop herself, Helen Reddy. Helen Reddy had 9 number 1's in her career and 3 of them were on the pop charts. I see you have correctly included "I Am Woman" and "Delta Dawn". However, you neglected to mention "Angie Baby" which was the number 1 song on New Year's Eve of 1974!!! Thanks for getting back to me on this!
Thanks for the great comment! "Angie Baby" was one I hoped wouldn't get cut from the collection since it doesn't get as much attention as her two other #1 pop hits.
It wasn't included because we didn't have room. Also, Capitol only allowed us to license two of her songs. They felt including a third would cut into their Helen Reddy hits CD. This happens with labels a lot.
You'll notice there are few acts with more than two hits on the set. I fought to include two for Helen! I think she's ace!
Wow, thanks! You are one amazing guy! I sincerely appreciate the time and effort you have taken to reply so graciously to my posting. In my book, just your customer relation skills alone will get me to buy this collection!!!! On behalf of the Helen Reddy fans out there, thank you again!
