You had to pay attention to the story. The stuff Ozymandias did was for the greater good. Rorshach had no choice but to expose the truth, therefore Manhatten had no choice but to kill him. Ozymandias, while possibly wrong, had the greater good in mind. Manhatten, meanwhile, had to leave.

It's not that Dr. Manhattan is an asshole, what it is, is that, he understands so much about the world, about life, about the universe, that he cannot relate to anything anymore. He has become so knowledgable and so distant he's become apathetic. Read the book, the movie takes watching and rewatching to figure this out.

Don't get ahead of yourself. The graphic novel was ground breaking. People hyping this movie up too much. They changed the ending. I don't really see any other way of joining the entire world without the ending they had in the book. I still think the movie will be awesome, especially the director's cut that will be close to 4 hours with tales of the black freighter.

It's 20, almost 25 or so years old. It redefined the genre. Any comic book based movie, and any comic book written since watchmen would not exist in any sort of form remotely close to what it is today. Watchmen is the first comic to be taken seriouslly..... by anyone.
