70s rock can and needs to be brought back, just start a band and try to get in ads so that people can be inspired by you. seems like the only way to do it now a days
@milt098279 good boy ! My brother was (who I lost july 6 2010..my best friend in the fuckin' world!!!) And I experienced this music as a little girl through him being my best friend ...now I'm an older "little"girl and still love it all and my kids know all the words to all this music ! Music is great !
Hey debbie! Yep they are still going strong and they do a helluva show! Jim was super nice and hung around after the show and signed autographs and traded stories. You can tell he still gets off on being on stage. Lots of old timers just go thru the motions----not jim dandy!!
Yes, David Lee Roth took some lessons... but somebody from Detroit was tearing up the stage a little before Black Oak Arkansas... Ted and the journey to the center of his mind... I think.
@wdchefdave56 first of all, david lee roth and jim dandy mangrum are LEAD SINGERS of their respective groups. ted nugent is lead GUITARIST of the amboy dukes, not even their lead singer. if you look at videos of amboy dukes, ted's pretty darned sedate. his wild stage presence didnt happen until he went solo in 75, long AFTER BOA had hit ther stride
@musicvideoswhd Actually, Ted looked as bored as Neil Young did in the old Buffalo Springfield videos. Amboy Dukes sounded like the Moody Blues in those days. In East Texas... when I was a teen BOA, Foghat, Aprilwine always toured together and we would have to drive to Shreveport La. or Dallas to see them. Oh,and Ruby Star forgot to put on underwear the time I saw them. And, Jim Dandy's football pants left nothing to the imagination! They arrested Morrison for that kind of stuff.
Ruby Star stayed at my home more times than I can count along with her band Grey Star and her husband. We partied till we could not hardly stand. I miss Ruby. She was a one of a kind talent that always gave my wife and me the best seats to her shows and we always gave her the best of what we had to give. Rest in Peace Ruby. We still love you!!
@seymourbbest hi, my name is debbie. i was amazed to see your post on u-tube for black oak arkansas (jim dandy, song), which i am replying to. you noted that you saw a gig they did not too long ago. wow! my dad took me, like 12 times, when i was a kid in early 70's. i think about 'boa' now & then & wondered if they were still around. guess so! very cool. hopefully they'll be in california some time, cuz i'd love to see them again. thanks for the info. - from debbie wrobel
@summerzzzzz55 That's no shit ! Where'd "Diamond" Dave and Brett get the moves ! Ole"Jim Dandy" ! He was a sexy son of a bitch on stage ! And I don't usually care for "blonds "!
Its all good,I remember my mom catching a glimpse of Jim Dandy in his glory and being shocked that it was allowed on Tv ,guessing about 1973-74. Dig the short scale gibson bass and Tommy Aldridge on the drums
I was once looking at 'who' produced Black Oak Arkansas' first album. Talk-about 'weird scenes inside the goldmine'! Lee Dorman: Iron Butterfly, and Mike Pinera, from The Blues Image. Have you ever heard the song: Ride, Captain, Ride (Upon Your Mystery Ship) that's 'him'! Go-figure THAT one!
